Can someone help a little? I've been right to the centre of the crypt, killed the Lorik? guy. \in the centre I pressed the button on the plinth, which turns on the gas! (Thought I was on a gas cooker ring) tried moving the plinths outside the centre back and forwards. Been all around again, Still says in the journal that I need to find out what the vampires are after. Well, none in there, I've killed them all.
I'm stuck, found the other way out too.

You need to move them along the slots until they light and send a track along the floor then you move the next one and so on, when they are all in place the center will rise. www.youtube.com/watch?v=nsgGJLd8t9Y

Maybe you should check the wiki or something if you have problems with the puzzle. I haven't played it myself, yet.

If you are stuck, the wiki may help, but I just kept going round the circle and moving them along the slots until eventually they were all lit up.

An undead turkeybutt to act all cryptic and morose as she hands you obscure instructions on a whole bunch of stuff you really aren't all that interested in most of the time.

Hehee I see you're not a strong fan of Serana. I can't say I was either and I was fairly quick to dump her after I finished with Dawnguard in my last playthrough. She is really quite limited and also her constant flitting around was an iritation. However, Vilja's remarks to her were a lot of fun at the time. Yet I have a friend who thinks she is really good. I've been trying to get him to try Vilja, but so far, he thinks because Serana is an official Bethesda companion, she is a better bet for now and less likely to be buggy! Poor naive man! [edit] P.S. as an afterthought I decided because of revealing a name, it would probably be better if I set this as a "spoiler".

One can only hope that through your guidance your friend will see the light of Vilja and join the fold. I mean good god we all use the basic same 3-5 companions because of their better dialogue and abilities. That said I do have a crush on Serena and I hope someone (i have no clue how to mod) will do a mod to add to her similar to Aela.

The proper way to tolerate Serana is to aggravate her whenever possible making all the wrong dialogue choices, and use the console command removeallitems on her regularly then see how long it takes her to get dressed again. The scenery in the SC matches Serana's attitude perfectly.
