As we are now married, I thought it add more flavour if on occasion Vilja used the word 'Husband' or even the players name if possible. Dropped all the 'why are you looking at' lines with a few added which give a better sense of their new status together. These may be impossible, I have no idea but it would be nice to have a sense of 'difference' in the game. Maybe the player is more fearful of her being hurt or carried off (to be carried off as a slave in some distant land) After all, he isn't now just an adventurer and dragonborn to boot, He's now an adventurer with a wife and home to look after. I know she can well look out for herself but........we do like to look after the (in tiny print and whispering) the little wife at home!!!! She needs more gold to run the house too, more often. rhyls

It wouldn't be impossible to get Vilja to call the player by name - it just wouldn't be worth the effort, imo. It would take a script to read the player's name, then sound it from the letters and combinations of letters. It would take a big effort to record all possibilities, and the scripting might not be the easiest either to pull off.
The thought was really nice though.

Alright, please be courteous to each other. Everyone are entitled to their opinions in a forum-friendly manner, there's no need to get personal or defensive.
Back to the topic, Vilja calling player pet names is under consideration for the next update.

Wife sounds good to me. Most women that I know who are married to another woman will call their spouse "wife". I think it sounds quite nice and accurate.

Thank you Dova and Emma. I had thought knowing two nice young women in that situation, it was perfectly ok One is going deaf which is why I have coffee with them on occasion, to discuss BSL. I'm teachingt her some of the easier signs before she does a full course.

I just asked my wife if it is okay to call her a wife. She said it is fine but she still reserves the right to call me an idiot who was dropped on her head once too many times. Thumbs up on the BSL rhyls. Kind of you. Apologies if I offended anyone. Wife has always had the connotation of a possession to me. We prefer taksi (sister).

Cultural differences are intriguing to deal with, and here we obviously have a cultural difference. In Sweden, where equality between genders is supposed to be very good, it is in no way insulting to call your spouse "husband" or "wife", it's just a way to show affection. Obviously it is differently where you live, Sniffles. Which proves that some ingame things, like petnames, should be very optional as it can mean so different things in different cultures.

Thanks, Emma. It's not a cultural thing per se to me, but something that has haunted me throughout my academic career. My feminist militant streak comes out now and then. Wife is completely acceptable in this modern time. But one doesn't have to look back too many years to find the inequality, first in Europe then spread like a disease to America. Less than 100 years ago a female was very much a second class citizen little better than property with no rights to speak of. To exemplify, take the marriage vow 'man and wife'. At the present time in America women are paid about 78% of a man doing the same job. One of the things I deal with, rub shoulders with here in the third world is this inequality. In Sweden the Edda were revered and even treasured. Many native tribes hold women in equally high esteem. But, sadly, those are exceptions and not the rule even today. It's an ongoing struggle. As far as Vilja is concerned, there is nothing wrong with the terms and of course it is your call. I needent remind you of the origins of the words, Hus Bondi the master of the house and Wif, Vif: girl, babe and the Old Germanic, bitch, the baby maker. Be all that as it may, Vilja is absolutely wonderful. The entire mod is. I'm sorry to be sounding so gloomy and negative when what you need is positive inspirations. I was just playing her becoming a bard today and how you handled the heart to heart with the PC and dealt with the gender issue was lovely. I only wish there were many more scenes like that.

Sniffles. One of my biggest rants here in Manchester in my loacality. is the inequality that ALL the major religions preach for women. because I am an outspoken atheist. I have ALWAYS propounded the equality and am known to belief that women have some superiorities over men.DOesn't go down very well that one' A lot of my friends are muslim, and I do conversational english with students from Turkey. We all get along finesome of whom are devout in their belief. Re the apology. no rancour here Sniffles w're all back to square one. I did also say to call the player 'husband'as she tied the knot round his ankle.(or was it neck)this IS a joke! rhyls
