Alright, I'll give it another shot. Just going to try and do the Stahlrim quest & mainquest on Solstheim, then never touching it again. Would it be prudent to leave Vilja in Skyrim when going to Solstheim?

Would it be prudent to leave Vilja in Skyrim when going to Solstheim? Leaving all followers out of Solstheim would reduce your chances of corruption. But I've taken Vilja through Solstheim several times. The big thing is making LOTS of saves and expecting a badly programmed bit of landscape that is going to try to screw up your game. Having Vilja along makes Hernia Morons Laundromat From Hell MUCH more tolerable. Checking our old saved games I've got Shit1 through Shit24 (Solstheim<number>). Several of them are corrupt messes. Oh yes, the LFH can remove followers permanently from the game from some weird glitch. It did that to Serana once. Always have an extra save before plumbing the depths of that sewage factory.

I've got everything up and working again and I advanced Vilja's quest. I take it her disposition will rise on its own over time? I'm very glad with your help!

There should be an option with Beata to dial up Vilja's disposition to her former level. But she constantly is adjusting her disposition so being nice to her will eventually bring it back up.
