I don't have a problem with Vilja's behaviour in first-person side by side, not that I use first-person for walking side by side, but it seems reasonable for turning a corner and I'm looking ahead where I'm walking when in first person anyway. I've been trying out the Multiple Follower as Companions mod just for fun. With that you can have Vilja walking side by side with you using her own routine on one side of you and another follower on your other side, walking three abreast. You can also bunch-up another follower close behind. Don't apply the mod to Vilja of course, in case it interferes with her own routines.

What does [12/16/2015 - 02:59:49PM] warning: Function AAEMUninstall#Class: AAEMUninstall..OnInit in stack frame 0 in stack 521116 differs from the in-game resource files - using version from save and how do I deal with this?
Also, returning to Wilburt with a musical instrument he requested, he has no correct dialogue option. Only 'tell me about the chants' and 'It is not possible to do that quest...' a performance quest.

What is the date on AAEMUninstall.pex
located in
SteamLibrary\SteamApps\common\Skyrim\Data\Scripts
Should be 03/22/2014 the file has not changed. Therefore you shouldn't have a newer version. It's a nonsense message.

03/23/2014 (We are 1 day ahead) So, is this nonsense script thing common? How can I tell what is relevant and what is nonsense?
I reverted to a saved game just before that script came up in the PDT and the problem with Wilburt was gone.
An additional concern. When a follower is assigned to follow Vilja then the game removes that follower, does Vilja automatically reset and fix things? I note Serana seems to still be following Vilja in scripts after the game removed her to seek the vampire cure.

If you hit Serana with the reset spell it will likely remove the faction. This is one of those priority things, Dawnguard takes preference and forces her to leave. Since this is outside of Skyrim, you should have her stop following before you send her off. Since it is a Dawnguard script, it is outside of Viljas control, so she will likely not know to release her.
Edit: Likely you will log all sorts of nonsense, unless you are actively looking for an issue, it's best to leave logging off, it takes up resources...

That is a good rule of thumb. It is easy to forget dismissing a follower from Vilja before dismissing or removing from the entourage or game. The same applies with all the other mod followers. It would be the cats butt nifty to have a thing built into Vilja to accommodate the dismiss of mod followers.

Just sending Serana off can glitch. She can glitch while sneaking, she never loses her Vampire powers even when cured.... I like her A.I., even though she plays with things too much. If you walk through a gate, 50/50 she will close it and lock you in.

I've been thinking of getting rid of Serana as a follower. I have her expanded dialogue mod installed. Can I, 1, dismiss her from Vilja, 2. dismiss her, 3, untick the mod? Any foreseeable problems?

Depends upon what is in it. If it has a bunch of scripts MCM controls and the like. Yea, probably bad to remove. Just dismiss Serana, if she isn't there the scripts will terminate. They will still be in the save, but they won't be running.

Greetings forum-friends,
it's my first post here, so a short introduction of my person comes first: I'm in TES-universe on PC since 2012 after Oblivion (PS3) sucked me in some years before. Started with Morrowind, with different mod selections – Constance is my favourite thief character companion and I also tried Emmas Laura romance mod. Morrowind is still my PC first love and I still play it. As I love deep character roleplaying, when I started with Skyrim in 2014 I decided to use Requiem from the beginning on. Vilja (Vers3_02FULL) is a central part of my Skyrim setup which is somehow dated since I made it two years ago. Here is the point where my problem starts.
So I play an older Requiem 1.7.3 setup with Vilja Vers3_02FULL and after completing the MQ and doing the Bard College questline with Vilja I run into the infamous hug-bug. Vilja started to bleed after hugging or died straight after hugging. As there was no quick solution for this bug and only the new version of the mod offered a bugfix I decided for an update.
After the update everything worked fine, I finished the College questline without any visible errors. The new version offers some nice changes and new quests so I was eager to push the Vilja quests further. Then my character was killed in a fight but did not die. He just crouched like an immortal NPC – his killers sheated their weapons and walked away – and the only option to stop his suffering was to reload my save.
I guess the problem is my dated Requiem load order with the new Vilja version. I could revert back to Vers3_02FULL and live without huging Vilja and miss all the new features fron the new version. Maybe it is even possible for my to somehow fix the hug-bug with Your help in my Vers3_02FULL? Now that it's known how to fix it maybe its just a copy and paste of code from the new to the old version? I could also live with not-dieing and terminate the game via console (kill PC) or reload manually. But this could also be only the first bug that appears, other could follow as I go on. Don't know.
Could You help me to decide how to find the best solution for my problem, please?

This is a problem that I have never heard of before, but my first thought is that this could be if you at some point have used the TIM command in the console (toggle immortality)
Have you checked if it helps to write TIM in the console? If TIM is on, writing it again should turn it off.
As far as I can understand, there is nothing that has been done to Vilja ver 4 that could trigger your problem; it is an animation file that has been replaced which prevents the hug-dying from happening, and it shouldn't affect the player in any non-Vilja-hugging situation.

Thanks for Your quick answer, Emma.
It's definitively not the TIM command. This was the first thought on my mind. Right now I deinstalled the old mod as decscribed in the FAQ, waited the time in game until the scripts finished and reinstalled the new version. Checked load order, FINIS and DSR and started Viljas quests from the beginning. After updating the quests to my status quo everything seems normal, but I have to test a little longer to be sure.

My guess is your character has been set to essential. This mod did make your character essential for a brief time, to ensure the hug didn't kill it. Maybe a script lag could have avoid the second part making it unnessential again ever running, or maybe it has been caused by another mod. Anyway, regardless of the cause, if the problem is caused by your character being essential, you can fix it just by typping in the console: SetEssential 7 0
