While I love children of Morrowind its age as a Morrowind mod is showing. Also it's become apparent that it breaks lore and the modding community has just changed over recent years. It's still the only good children mod available for morrowind, but it's just not with the times. Most mods these days focus on making things lore friendly and vanilla game friendly. While I understand that's not Emma's style (at least I don't think so), it's definitely something that draws a lot of criticism from fellow modders these days.
Now I'm not neccesarily saying Emma has to do this but a lot of people would love a lore friendly and less intrusive take on Children of Morrowind these days. Most of the complaints I hear are the fact that the children are immortal, they always give you a 2000 gold bounty, even if they witness you steal something, and the playground equipment just isn't very lore friendly.
Children on Tamriel (and Nirn for that matter) wouldn't have flashy playground equipment. The younger children would probably play with eachother and some small toys while the older children would work with their parents to learn their parents' trade. Some would even become freelance adventurers at a young age.
As for the immortal children thing. I understand why it was done but killing the children should be down to player choice not the modder's. However, this is just my opinion. Regardless, a 2000 gold bounty for harming a child is too much. Worst still, the way the script works causes you to instantly earn the death warrant if you as much as pick up an inexpensive item with multiple children witnessing it. This is unrealistic and silly. Granted, we're talking about a game that lets you become pretty much an OP god and use magic but even for that setting, it's still an absurd punishment.
But yeah, I'd like Emma or someone to make an update for it to make it more on par with current times if it's not too much trouble. Anyway, thank you for reading. The morrowind modding community actually misses you btw Emma. If you ever want to come back, feel free. We're still around.

I fully agree, COM is still the best even aged as it is. but a update would be great.

I just learned of all these addons but wow.. they really do add so much to the liveliness of the game! This along with some other NPC addons and some grass, makes these towns bustle about! It's amazing

It would be nice if it worked.

"It would be nice if it worked."
I had to wrestle with it a while to make it work on my machine a few months ago. Are you trying to install through Mod Organizer or some such? That didn't work for me. I had to install it the old-fashioned way.

It would be nice if it worked. If I remember correctly you need to register the esm and open the esm file to upload textures etc on the normal folders.

I've been thinking of adding children and pet NPC around tamriel , skyrim mod , cyrondil etc ... I have the free time and the will I just need someone more expert to help me out.

I agree. I did a complete playthrough of Morrowind on my YouTube channel, and missing COM was a big mistake. Since I am all about being in character, this requires as much life in the world as you can possibly make it work, while sticking to the lore.
Originally I did try and use COM for my modded Morrowind, but I didn't quite know how to use Wrye Mash too well at the beginning. But after learning the ins and outs of Wrye Bash for Oblivion, and successfully getting Emma's Children Mod to work with that game. It made me look back at Morrowind, and I'd say it was my biggest regret not getting it in. I previously did use COM, but we are talking about 2012 or so, and it was a long time back.
So when I tried to get it to work with Morrowind this time around which was a year back, it came up with errors when loading the game. I didn't know that I just had to get it to work with Wrye Mash as I have done with many of the other mods since, but then I forgot about it until Oblivion.
Sorry Emma. You and Kateri make great mods. I will be using your mods as much as I can in Oblivion, and in Skyrim when I get to it.

For several years I have actually been thinking about doing a CoM addon for the Tamriel Rebuilt lands. This project as I have considered it would make the teenagers apprentices in various professions which I feel is a lot more lore-friendlu than the original implementation, while the younger kids would continue to act like the original kids. I would not feel right updating the original CoM itself though, since I wasn't involved in the original. I did however many years ago create a CoM addon so I am no stranger to working with CoM.

It might be easy to get Emma's approval here if you just want to add a patch to get it working the way you want in your own mod. I don't know when she last logged in, or if she logs in often anymore. But I have contacted Kateri through email a couple of times. Maybe you just need to get Emma's email and send her a request. Yeah, just click on her name. Last time she logged in was December 23rd, 2020. So nearly four months back. Her email is this: emma9158@hotmail.com
