Mind you, I love Skyrim (can't count the number of times I've played it through). But one thing always bugged the hell out of me- I kill the Dark Brotherhood and everyone makes a big deal out of it. I become the Harbinger and all the towns bow down and worship me. I defeat Alduin, and it's, "Hey, nice job... um Dovakiin... Who are you again? Cya." No banquets, no parades, no bumper stickers. Kinda a let-down when you consider Alduin's defeat is the main quest of the game. Like the phone ringing while you're having sex

As always, there is a mod for that...

I'm not sure it's wrong not being praised for finishing Alduin. Basically, nobody is aware of the true threat it poses and there are no witnesses of you having ended such threat.
Imagine you are in your workplace and one of your coworkers comments: "you know that series of murders commited recently? there was a group summoning an extradimensional demon lord that would have destroyed the worl, but don't worry, I ended the thread in a battle in another dimension"

I can imagine that as a Dilbert cartoon, with Wally using that as an excuse. an example, a Dilbert cartoon from just the other day.

The idea in the example is correct, but unlike in our world magic does work in Tamriel while it doesn't in this world. So if there I am working on the Dawnstar docks and someone says that to me, I am not going to think impossible, I am going to think "Blow Hard" or "narcissist."

Narcissist! THAT's what I want... a gold-guilded tower filled with mirrors!!! And, and... as I adore myself... a full orchestra in the background, playing Grieg's Hall of the Mountain King. Wooowooo... now where did I put that CK??? Oh, wait... MAgic mirrors! Mirrors that show a halo emanating from myself and lightning coming out my arse Woo woo.

I sure there is an audience for a mod called "Narcissist"

That should be pretty easy really- Just create an army of Couriers who scurry across Skyrim, repeating everything you say and do... the Nordic version of TWITTER Oh, and they'll have to get everyone's reaction and report back to you so you know how many "Likes" you got

OK, now THAT's a little over the top. Some modder definitely had wayyy too much time on their hands. I'd install that mod about as quick as I would a Hello Kitty War Hammer mod or a My Little Pony PC horse mod. I think we're missing the point here... probably everybody in Skyrim knows about the Alduin prophecy. I thought it kind of a let-down when I went to see Jarl Balgrufff after defeating Alduin, and he basically told me, "Yeah, that's nice. Now- I got work to do." (paraphrased.) Maybe the main game quest should have been the elimination of the Wolf Queen.
A new "Is it just me" direction...
Did anybody else get "haunted" by Vilja's The Blacksmith Song? OMG! I lost an hour of sleep because I couldn't get it out of my head. Absolutely beautiful!!!

I love The Blacksmith, and Vilja's/Emma's performance of it is lovely, though I do get a bit thrown off because I'm much more familiar with the Steeleye Span version, and the arrangement is a little different. Still great, though.

I must say, their version of the Blacksmith also gave me chills... but not as intensely as the Vilja version. I think, regardless of the genre, it's the voice that cuts into the very marrow of my bones. It is what... Compelling Sweetness?

Still great, though. There is a stab from the past. Actually I love Vilja's version and her song about the bard. That one actually brings tears to my eyes.
