Kind of A Big Deal

Couple of days ago I gave in and allowed a Microsuk update that upgraded the Net Framework. (Holding my breath.) TODAY, I noticed my screen resolution was much finer and all my icons had kinda migrated to the NorthWest of my TV viewer. Then I logged into Fallout 4 and I noticed the sound level was much higher. Eh? Whattup?
So- on a wild hair, I decided to run Skyrim (which has NEVER had any sound with HDMI). BAM! SOUND! WHA? WOO WOO. Now I can runs Skyrim on my TV monitor instead of having to squint at it on my lappy monitor!

Glad it worked out for you. For me it blow away some of my settings and turned on some eye tracking thing that produced random mouse and click stuff so my computer would constantly do random things. Once I restored my settings and turned off the eye tracker things are running pretty much the same for me. (Like before the 'upgrade')

Your computer knows which direction you are looking? "You did not look at the displayed advertisement popup for the mandated amount of time! Locking your hard drive. Authorities will be there shortly."

Indeed, until I turned it off, my computer was suppose to know where I was looking. Unfortunately it thought I was moving my mouse and clicking on things. If it hadn't been for the update just happening, I would have thought I had a short that was sending out random surges. I'm thinking of taking a look at TOR, I am getting pretty feed up with the surveillance state (the corporate surveillance state).

I use a desktop, and have my usb camera always disconnected unless using it for Skype calls. No smart speakers in my house!

No smart speakers, no facebook or instagram. Trying TOR out now, but this site blocks TOR logins, also tried a proxy server and I'm blocked via proxy whether I am using TOR or Chrome. It also looks like you can't connect to DISCORD via TOR.

Looks like TOR is not going to work out well. This site can't be accessed. Lots of extra validation of who you are each time you log into sites that are checking if you logging in from previously know location; sites like Nexus or email. Downloads are very limited, i.e. no downloads from NEXUS. Discord standalone and (hold my nose) Steam do not run through the browser so they leak data and are not shielded. Maybe I'll keep it when I am shopping online.
I did discover DuckDuckGo a search engine which doesn't store your information or sell it to others. Don't know how well it works, but will give it a try. Interesting enough I first heard of DuckDuckGo as a laughing side on a show talking about GOGGLE's virtual monopoly over the search market.

I've had DuckDuckGO as my default browser for years. I think it is a very capable search engine.
