Sigh, Hello Emma,
I know I brought this up before, but I'll toss in one, last request
You had mentioned that Fallout 4 was not the type of environment you wanted to create a character for. But, if I may add a couple of things to my request, perhaps you'd consider it?
1. There is already a stock companion ( Piper Wright ) who is not a blood-thirsty wench. She has a noble outlook on life, even in post-apocalyptia. She esteems justice and being helpful to those who need a hand. So much so, that her affinity is based on it. So, she is a beacon in a dark world. It's just too bad that she is not nearly as immersive as Vilja is. (Yet, she's really good in a fight, so her determination is clear.) It's just that she has a very limited chat.
2. If I had a more engaging affinity with a quality companion, I would be more than happy to create a walled, custom Dwelling within Sanctuary Hills to accommodate her personality. Perhaps some strawberry plants to plant?
The thing is, I switch between Fallout and Skyrim all the time, trading off between melee and ranged weapons. Currently, I play with Heather Casdin, who is a well-made companion from llamaRCA, but even Heather seems a bit cold-hearted. I miss Vilja in Fallout
I realise it's a huge project, but, one last time I will make this request. As far as modding goes, I am restricted to what is available in the CK. I stopped writing scripts after New Vegas, and I don't do anything with 3D models. Soooo... would you consider it? I promise I'll shut up about this from here on out.

Slash @emma From the feelings and impressions I've picked up, Emma created Vilja to fit an adventurous chivalrous ... and romantic world. A noble hearted girl in the age of gallantry and daring do. Vilja is the grownup of that girl. She just doesn't fit a modern world venture, let alone a post apocalyptic one. There isn't all that much in FO4 worth choosing from as far as female companions go. FO 4 has a version of Vilja in a way in Curie. Star gazing, positive, optimistic and creative, and very much a hopelessly naive anachronism. Piper is a sad self centered companion weighing everything in a world of one-upmansip and seeing plots and intrigue every inch of the way. Cate is pathetic. A bunch of nerds compiling a pile of what they envisioned as everything bad and ultra materialistic, with a plot twist that didn't work at all. Heather is okay, has depth, and fullfills various objectives left out by the developers. But nowhere near Vilja's character. Darlene is okay, if you want to spend 80,000 playing hours to discover she isn't okay and will forever be a psychotic basket case that eventually acquired a tiny bit of charm and a few dump truck loads of Hollywood melodrama excuses for being a trash heap.

I never heard of D-D-D-Darlene until you replied to my post, Sniffles. So I tried her out. Aside from the fact that she instantly appears to be a synth whose warranty expired, I couldn't deal with her speech. I have no problems with the French accent, but couple that with the muffled sound quality of the mod, I couldn't understand a thing she said. So if she would have said, "Can I gouge your heart out with a soup ladle?" I would have probably replied with, "Do what you want."
I suppose I was a bit skeptical before I even downloaded her when I read the description regarding affinity. When it said that one of her turn-ons was cannibalism...
Suffice it to say, she lasted long enough to complete her first affinity stage. After that, I relied on AFT, made her killable, dismissed her, shot her in the head... and stole her clothes. Cait actually looked pretty secksie, wearing only Darlene's jacket. Gave a whole new meaning to when Cait says, "We'd move faster if you kept your eyes on the road and off me arse."
I did notice in the CK that "Darlene" was actually "Vanessa". I seem to remember playing with Vanessa eons ago, and didn't like her at all.

Aside from the fact that she instantly appears to be a synth whose warranty expired, I couldn't deal with her speech. Awww. You didn't wait for the misery to set in. She's on a timer. So you have to raise her up to the next level, keep her there, put up with the same dialogue and continue playing until the timer kicks her in gear. There is a shortened timer option but it still takes several days playing for each level boost. That equates to about 4 to 5 days of game play kissing her butt to get to her revelations and adoration. Compare to Heather that you can take to max affinity in less that 24 hours. And with Heather you can prep your game for her, ready to do her quests and achievements before you meet up with her. I think I took her to max affinity in about 2 playing hours.

OK, so I I loaded DDar-Dar-Darlene up again and this time left Heather out of the picture (she's too much of a distraction). I got to the first stage of affinity with DDD. Now, I plan to do the Heather mission and kill 50 synths. Kinda want to see DDD's reaction to the mass murder of her former brethren. I assume she probably won't even care. She's obviously aware of the Instadouch's influence on her, not so sure about her attachment to it though. (I personally hate the Institute and their synths. Those synths, are a permanent downward spiral to the human race... by no design of their own.) Wouldn't take long for the synths to realize that humans are an inferior species and just start plotting their total overthrow. At least their lasers are a piece of junk compared to human ranged weapons. There's still that nagging realization that I'm aiding and abetting DDD. I did find it interesting how the author played out the Instamash mind-block in DDD. Biggest hurdle to overcome is her sound quality. It's obvious that nobody knew the principles of sound engineering when her lines were recorded. So- here we go again

.... "We'd move faster if you kept your eyes on the road and off me arse."... Reminds me of a line from Vilja in Oblivion, "When I asked you to watch my back, that's not what I meant!"

But, but... Vilja has such lovely back
OK, that's it. I just watched a UTube affinity play-through about DDDarlene. Now, I find it interesting that only Darlene and Curie say they love me. Ok, Heather does too, but she's not a synth or a psycho, whacked-out Talky Toaster. Odd that no normal person would reciprocate my undying devotion. SO- now that I see where this D-D-Darlene thing is going, I'm just gonna (once again) make her vulnerable, dismiss her, and then blow her brains out. There's just no way I'm gonna have a microwave oven (who will outlive me by another 800 years) tell me they love me. Hell, if I wanted that kind of unwavering devotion, I'd-a kept Dog Meat. Sure would be interesting to know where that mod-author got that acid from. It's just too bad that nobody did a good version of Nora. Whatever. At least Heather has an interesting monologue. And she likes the red dress I gave her.
PS: It's been over 200 years since the last Corvega was built- How is it that Cait said she's spent a lot of time in the back seat of a Corvega? Huh... she must like the feeling of rusty springs gouging her back. Game over. LOL

Slash I'm not sure what you expect from a companion. Vilja was a once in a lifetime one shot deal with an extraordinary amount of time and effort poured into her, along with a lot of personal sentiments. Heather comes close, and Darlene a distant third. And a few elephants in the room. Take Darlene to the memory lounge and move her sentience into a synth that doesn't have the glitches. Of course on that line, all Gen III synths are morally and ethically the property of the sole survivor. It was her DNA that went into them via her non consenting brainwashed child. Fourth ending for the FO 4 main quest -> She explains what the institute did and the Gen IIIs and all she has discovered about them to the brotherhood, to the railroad, to the minutemen and all settlers and everybody else she has helped out and is on her side. Start with the minutemen. Sole Survivor is in charge after all. Then the railroad. Get Glory on your side. SS and her call the shots or else. Then the Brotherhood. Bring in all their people power and gadgets, they get the institute technology but hands off the commonwealth. If they can build the Prydwen then can dig a few near miss bore holes and drop in some mini nukes as a wake up call if need be.
Then deliver an ultimatum to the Insitute. Turn over all Gen IIIs to her and cease and desist all experiments and raids or it's all out war and thanks to Virgil and sleuthing she knows their every trick, plot and ploy. Cooperate or we are going to dig you up and take your slice of heaven apart one atom at a time. Or blow the place up with all the mini nukes scattered around. Railroad gets to pacify and relocate the synths, brotherhood gets all the technology, and the settlers-minutemen get cooperation in a peaceful commonwealth with them in charge of the real estate. Use the new minutemen network to send in the brotherhood dogs and route out the raiders.
Then maybe hand off the General position to Hancock. Turn the entire commonwealth into Goodneighbor.

Aww what the heck, I'm just gonna adopt a Teddy Bear! Use your imagination! There are lots of weird things you can do with FO 4. For a start, Squishy has been playing OSOK taking down the entire commonwealth with a modified .308. Her own mod. It does around 300 damage with head shots and she accepts nothing else. Save and Reload. She's finished reunions I think. Playing on and off for a little over a year. In another play through she fine tuned Codsworth as a full Sentrybot with some very nasty hardware. We both play that game. Surprise an enemy then scamper back past Codsworth, hide and watch the fireworks. She's alsio working on a mod to equip Dogmeat with a gatling laser. Then my personal games. When inspired I load a very early save and continue my reforestation project. I figured out how to keep the LOD from making my computer lag to dust. The forest starts east of Abernathy and gets very dense. Set the weather to foggy and wander through at night is amazing. About 1650 trees of assorted types, heights and sizes so far. Getting ready to expand it into Lexington and up through Ten Pines Bluff. I starting to look forwards to a fresh restart of the game fully forested. Another couple of years. I've sunk several thousand glitched electric connectors in the ground so the entire grid will eventually be an electric grid.
Then there is another Squishy mod she hasn't finished. Macready in the slinky red dress or the summer shorts outfit. Danse's armor is bright pink with flowers and a Kick Me sign on his back. She's getting good with Nifscope I think. The tutu needs work. Piper in thong and leather S&M gear is okay I guess.
So you want a teddy bear. That gives me an idea. Populate the central Bostion area with 50 foot teddy bears. Put them on the roofs etc. Maybe setscale 2000 one in the middle of diamond city.

Piper? The first thing I did to Piper was reduce her mouth by 30%. Then I turned her blond... her sister too of course. Now, I pretty much have her run around butt-nekkid. It's pretty funny when she tries to kick down the mayor's door.
My weapons are all modded. The 10mm has a nv scope with a kill power of 750. My sniper rifle does 900 when modded to .50 Cal. My Combat Rifle is a .308 Auto with silencer that has a 750 kill impact. 3 Shots put down a Death Claw with any of them.
Armor is pretty awesome- Cait's Bandolier has been re-introduced to vendors... expensive but has a ballistic armor of 120 and it's fireproof. Power Armor disappointed me right off the bat so I just ignored it. (Did they make that out of aluminum?? T6061?)
Most settlements have a wall around them with platforms on 'em for turrets. Cash registers have a minimum of 500 pre-war bucks. My outfit is a BOS Officer's underarmor with 50 hit points, fire protection, energy protection, poison (is that even used?), and 3000 rad protection. I have cozy bunkers throughout the commonwealth with double beds and running water. I have a nice apartment just outside of the castle with see-through windows. Cold Beer is non-addictive... Woot. Settlers have the "Banger"- a 300 power pipe gun... they kick Raider butts and brag about it. Radios and water pumps, and couches give settlers 100 bonus happiness points too.
So the only real fight I have on my hands is when I kill the admins in the Institute. There's usually about 50 synths waiting for me as I head back up to the Molecular Relay. Or if I decide to wipe out the BOS at the airport. I could use "tgm" but that would be cheating, wouldn't it?
There's a diner in Sanctuary, next to their farm plot. Settlers just naturally seem to gravitate to it so that's where I put the bar once I've leveled up enough. So- as far as personal and settlement protection goes... I'm well covered. DDDarline seems to CTD in the CK any time I try to look at her data, but her clothing is pretty well protected. So she gets to run around barefoot in her bra and pants but I also give her my "Shredder" so she's got enough firepower to keep the Commonwealth lit up. (Steals some of my kills too... the wench.)
But I am gonna start collecting Teddy Bears and litter my home base with them. Maybe i should make a quest out of that- "Knee Deep in Teddy Bears". Kinda like tribbles

OK, DUH! I finally figured out how to understand DDDarlene. It's a highly technical work-around but... I turned on the Sub Titles. Wooh... epiphany!

Nie obchodzi mnie, czy to jest polskie!
I never got to the next stage with DDDarlene. I slept through most of the 30 game days, checked her affinity and it never got above 249. So- enough of that! I had Heather blow her brains out this time. Didn't wanna get my hands dirty. Actually, I preferred Kit in the Machine and Her. At least that was an interesting story. Sad, but interesting. I cried for weeks. Kinda like a twisted Disney movie or a vase of dead roses. Kinda like Autonomatonnatron... Hey??? Where's my arms and legs??? I think I'm gonna buy the Sims instead So- njow I have room littered with Teddy bears
