Well I gave it 3 days of Isolation and lots of Resets and: Wilbert = No Change but Vilja now wants to make me fur armor Seems like a classic case of script backlog pile up. Just IMHO, Vilja was coded properly and well done. But the game engine, in order to avoid crashes and oddities, will simply skip a script taking too long. And another and another until......... In Fallout 4 they revised how the engine handles things and streamlined operations quite a bit. Running LLama's mod Heather, similar to Vilja in complexity, the engine handles multiple quests and scripts running quite a bit better. There remain glitches and speed bumps, but the player interface allows you to turn quests on and off, the engine has some sort of revert and continue feature, and LLama installed a Heather chest terminal which does what Beata does but more streamlined and directly reprogramming the character. When doing the quests for Preston Garvey, the major quest supplier outside of the main quest, you can pile up several pending quest completions and observe from his dialogue the game engine making him pause for a few seconds, then several completions fire off all at once as it clears the backlog. Something entirely missing in Skyrim. His dialogue can be pretty weird when he deals with two or three quests more or less all in one sentence with strange pauses where you just have to wait for him to continue. (The settlement quests). So Bethseda knows they fooked things up and put in a script backlog cleaner. In Skyrim, the player has to guess or assume scripts are log jammed and try to find work arounds. No Preston Garvey pausing and checking the pending script list. So Vilja had at least one other script project going, the fur armor. Follow that one through and get it fully completed then see what she does next. But keep in mind other non Vilja scripts may be pending that can step on her quests and keep them from starting. My guess. In the case of Wilbert, it seems that there was one and possibly more quests given in the Windpeak Inn which never made it into the game. But the quest triggers are still present in that cell. And of course Karita running a looped script constantly. That is something worth a try. Go into the Inn, click on Karita and disable her, then exit the Inn, wait an hour and go back in. Maybe have the console showquesttargets and see if anything else in there is running. One instance I tested repeatedly identical to Vilja's quest constipation problem. In Fallout 4 with Heather, you execute specific projects, scripts, in a linear order, until she asks to go to University Point. But that location has 4 Karita's. A script running four enemies. Replaying the trip to that cell, about one out of four times Heather will run a dialogue then leaving the cell she will ask to go the University point again. The ongoing scripts of the enemies and their dialogues stepped in the quest completed flag or whatever and the new quest line would not start. Very similar to the Windpeak Inn. Heather would not advance her quests further, the romance options. Identical to Vilja and the Bard quest.

Well now she wants us to recover Countess Vanessa's Charm. She was definitely script constipated. I'd suggest avoiding all other quests and script intensive situations then just focus on Vilja. See where it goes. She may even re-suggest the Bards College. But you want to avoid that until it seems certain she has no other scripts pending. And seriously, investigate the Windpeak Inn. And consider disabling Karita, as opposed to putting a dozen arrows in her. I was picking up Vilja's father quest when she started her antics. Had trouble getting her father to leave the Inn and follow. Something was definitely not right when half way to Riften we encountered Vilja standing on a rock in her underwear without any dialogue.

The reference to teaching at the BC might be a precursor for that quest starting. But on a positive note, her scripts are running, and you are getting to see the pending scripts that she was stumbling over and the game had sidelined.

That will depend on whether the NPC themselves are necessary to that quest or just the ring. (I once caused the death of an NPC in an Oblivion Vilja quest, didn't think it was any problem since I'd already finished the quest, but much later there was another quest to this NPC. Tried using the console to place them where we were to meet but got the original NPC with default dialog, nothing about the quest. After banging my head against the wall for an extended period I started a new character.)

(I once caused the death of an NPC in an Oblivion Vilja quest, didn't think it was any problem since I'd already finished the quest, but much later there was another quest to this NPC. Tried using the console to place them where we were to meet but got the original NPC with default dialog, nothing about the quest. After banging my head against the wall for an extended period I started a new character.) I did the same thing including the banging. My tech explained it to me back then, as best I can remember. He used an analogy of a patient in a hospital entered into the computer database. The patient data is scattered all over the place. When deleted from the DB all the references, services from different departments remain and refer to the COPY of the original patient entry. This is the equivalent of the REF ID created from a base ID in the game. If the NPC dies, the ref ID is lost. All the scattered data looks for and refers to the ref ID. Trying to remember. Medical records, or in the game a DB entry, keeps all the data of what is done to the patient or NPC, the REF ID. The original entry, the base ID, cannot be altered or changed in any way. Something about DB security. So any creation or duplication of a lost NPC produces an NPC without a DB of what has been done to it. Even PlaceAtMe doesn't work since it creates a duplicate, a different REF ID without the pointers to the records. The game also adds the equivalent to a flag with a patient, Deceased. The REF ID is tucked away in the DB and can never be used again. This is one reason why the saved games get bloated. Ref IDs and all the data attached become a permanent part of the medical records which is the saved game. Saved game cleaners cannot remove ref IDs because the data connected to them may be in use somewhere else in the DB. Exactly like Vija naked with -75 armor. nobby Love the scenery in that screenshot. BTW, repeated use of a saved game cleaner will probably get rid of Vilja's oddities. But that can be a nightmare. My main saved game of her I did cleaning for two weeks and managed to get her running again. But I had Amgepo, one of Vilja's authors, holding my hand through the entire debacle.
