ScreenShot39.bmp (972.05 KB) Hmm, I decided Vilja should take my place to become a Nightingale, so she performed the ritual in my stead.
ScreenShot40.bmp (968.11 KB) I asked Vilja to do a little shopping, but I guess she is so sweet, she did a little shopkeeping instead.

A sweet moment, captured: First Picture: "C'mon, Adrian! Ask! If you can face down a dragon, you should have guts enough to ask a simple question!" Second Picture: "Vilja, will you...what I meant to say was...oh gee!...will you, uh, marry me?" Third Picture: "She said yes! She said yes! She said yes!"

On the Nexus of course, here's the link... www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/7184/?I usually have Vilja wearing the armor set's hood / cowl as well, as to protect her better and give some role play value ( who wanders around with no head protection in sub zero weather? ), but I removed it for the screenshot. The cloak is from "Winter is coming". I too thought this armor set fit Vilja perfectly ( it's a female only mesh ), and when it's improved to Legendary / Epic it protects her very well. Set is both craftable and upgradeable at any forge / workbench. Don't worry about that green you see on her left hand glove, that's just a glass sword with clipping issues. EDIT: Ceri was complaining all she had to run around in was some destruction robes and how come she didn't have any cool armor. Dang it girl...your a MAGE, just blast crap with your spells and stop whining... That flew over like a lead covered dragon...I finally had to make her up a pair of the same boots and gloves Vilja was wearing...I was fearing she'd eventually send a lightning bolt up my backside when I wasn't watching... She seems satisfied...for the moment... I started to comment to Vilja about Ceri's complaints and how demanding she could be, I thought for sure she'd be on my side when she replied matter of factly...."Strange"! Sigh...How about we just go kill something?

Nice story. I don't need a mage along now that Vilja has learned spells and bard chants. She stands back with me and blasts everything with lightning and the occasional fire ball (and regular insults ), then draws her sword and shield and runs in to finish the job. Her friends Junie and Angelina are melee; they do the job of holding the enemy back while Vilja and I deal damage at range. However, with sneak I can do a lot of ranged damage before the girls even realise there's a fight on. I'll have to check out Junie and Angelina Seyheb, but that won't be until my next play-through. I've read all about the way Skyrim's mods work as opposed to the way former TES games did . Gone are the days of installing and removing mods at anytime since it can cause all kinds of strange issues. Get a good working list of mods and stick to that from start to finish. Which though I see as a small pain in the backside ( I have about 15 mods I'd like to add right now )...also gives time to look through and evaluate other mods for the next time.

The best partner an adventurer can have by far: The lovely Vilja, together with two follower friends. The elegant Junie on the left; a lot tougher than she looks. Angelina on the right; when she fixes you with those piercing blue eyes, you know you have to behave! Chatterboxes and singers all.

I think your caution is well-founded. However, I do regularly take the risk of installing and removing mods in my game, but I back-up the whole game folder very frequently; I never have less than two backups stored and at the moment I have four. That has saved me problems a number of times. I know that doesn't guarantee clean saves, though I never re-start with a saved game dated later than the backup I'm restoring. I recently removed 50 old mods in a purge , then gradually added around 10, though all small ones and I never add more than one mod at a time. Larger ones get a lot of play-testing before I will add another. Although I have run into temporary problems in the past, things are pretty stable at the moment. Many of the problems I've met in the past have been the result of the vanilla bugs in the game. The Community has done a good job in hunting many of these down, and not just via the Unofficial Patches. Probably the biggest game-killing bug I ever ran into was the "perpetual loading-screen" issue, which nearly did make me wipe and re-install earlier in this play-through, but someone produced a small fix which was posted on the Nexus, which cured it. This is my third play-through without re-installing, but I think after this one I will do a complete wipe and re-install and then add back those mods I like the most and am familiar with. Starting with Vilja of course!

I found something on the Nexus, that helps a lot with stabilization ( if Beth would just code for a 64bit game, with newer engine things would be better ). Let me go find the link...it mentions a small program called Cleanmem which I am using and my game which already smooth, is now even smoother. EDIT: Link: www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/32363/?

I call this shot "Sometimes even the Dovahkiin has to do as he's told!" The expressions and body language made me think she'd just told him to go do something he wasn't too happy about.

Let me go find the link...it mentions a small program called Cleanmem which I am using and my game which already smooth, is now even smoother. EDIT: Link: www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/32363/?I've had no real problems since applying the fix, and my saved games load quickly now and without hanging. The only issue I have at the moment, though it may be unconnected, is the minor one of having to initialise SKSE twice when I first start Skyrim. It also means I have to re-start my saved game when I first join because on the first load the game is starting without SKSE. I think Skyrim is now loading my saved games faster than SKSE initialises and leaves it behind! As long as my machine remains switched on, I don't have to do it again. I just use the task manager to close the first one down quickly as soon as the SKSE error box comes up and then restart, and as everything is quick, I don't find it a real inconvenience. I used to have a utility that sets a memory flag in 32-bit applications that are installed on 64 bit machines that allows them to use a greater proportion of the 4gb limit. I got it initially for FSX, which has significant memory capacity problems because of its age and the many graphics and aircraft upgrades that now exist, but I think I also applied it to Skyrim. It's not guaranteed to work on all applications. I'm sure I archived it, but I can't find it in my utility archives. If/when I find its name, I'll look up the link and post. Thanks for the link to that stability guide and about the Cleanmem utility, it sounds useful. I'm not going to apply it just yet as things are running fine at the moment, but I will archive the information. Like you say though, the ideal would be for beth to re-code for 64-bit, but I doubt that will happen now. I hope that Beth will bring out the Elder Scrolls VI one day, but I fear they may be diverted from that idea by Elder Scrolls Online.
