For all who always wanted to give Vilja (and other humanoid NPCs) a new hairstyle, but never dared... I just released a little mod that lets you cast a spell which changes the hairstyle of the target. "The Hairstyler" is now available on Skyrim Nexus at: www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/48470/?

I gotta try this. It just sounds like a blast.
So glad I found this mod and all the people associated with it. You've all added so much to the game.
Thank you.

I tried to make Vilja a redhead, my preference as well, but...well...she just wasn't Vilja to me anymore, so I sadly gave her back her original hair. Maybe some day I'll try again. In any case, I've left this mod installed as it can't be anything but extremely useful. Thanks, Wolf!

I used it yesterday and it works great. Even saving and reloading the game, she keeps her new wig on One screen I made with red hair:

Yep, it's an awesome thing. I don't use it much as I like her normal hair, but when you feel like doing a special screenshot, you can't beat it. Gosh Vilja is just pretty no matter what isn't she ?

It is not a real fix unfortunately, because she will not wear any winter cloaks with this enabled. I believe cloaks are the same slot as the wig. Also in taverns, she usually takes her wig off (do not wear helmets indoors among friends, I believe)

Helmets and wigs share the same slot. I believe cloaks normally use the tail slot.
I use the hairstyler on followers I give Vilja but not often on Vilja herself as like Collin I prefer Vilja's normal hair.

Another option is Apachii Wigs www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/43673/? which lets you craft/pick from a secret room that you teleport to, well, wigs. It's good for simplicity, as each wig is just an inventory item and can easily be traded back and forth, but the colours are often a bit... off (most of the blonds seem garish, the browns are mostly nice but often very orangey - I guess this might just be something in my setup, but I can't think what as other hair colours look fine!) so you may well not be able to find a style you like in a colour you want (for player characters, there's a 'player only' option which takes the hair colour you already have, but I mostly use it for followers). Still, there's a few that look lovely on Vilja, particularly if you don't mind moving away from the blondeness. (I get the impression that the Hairstyler seems to stick with more vanilla/natural looking colours, and is probably a better mod overall, though I've not yet actually tested it out myself, as I found the wigs mod first and it does the job well enough for my needs.)

I use both mods. I like Vilja's hair as it is, so I use them mostly for her followers.
I usually start with the Hairstyler from choice, then if it doesn't have what I want I turn to Apachii Wigs. You don't need to go to the room to craft the wigs, you can open crafting via a spell wherever you happen to be.

Yes, sorry, my post wasn't clear, I meant you can go to the room to pick ready made wigs, not that you must go there to craft as well. Good to knew the two work together, I guess there's no reason they wouldn't. I wish I knew how to edit one of them to include some hairs from my new favourite hair mod, KS. Some very nice hairs that would really suit Lydia...
