A friend posted this on another board I belong to. It is more than a simple port of Morrowind. They are expanding it too. Video: www.youtube.com/watch?v=uJwpaVwOaHM#t=76Website: morroblivion.com/It is a successor to Morroblivion. I wasn't particularly impressed with what I saw of Morroblivion when it was under development, but Skywind looks more interesting. However, I'll let you judge for yourself. Although it is a long time since I played Morrowind (I still have it archived) it was a game I liked. If this comes off, I will likely take a look at it.

I don't like "mods" like this. It's ruining the community and will probably result that Bethesda would decide at a day not to tolerate mods anymore. Is that what some people want? Morroblivion wasn't approved by bethesda and that vality7 got the lawyers of beth after him/her and the particular "mod" had to be taken off. Bethesda has clearly stated that stuff from one game may not be used in the other (Gstaff posted this at the official forum) That's why morroblivion was forbidden, as it was a one on one copy. Better take an example of TESAlliance, who now make a whole new game of their self or at least it was founded there. No copy here, but everything from scratch. It ain't TES, but it's a rpg. Or take a look to Tamriel rebuilt.

The down sides I see to this are that there it won't be the same as Morrowind with the spell variety (sure you can use scripts to get the effects but that's not fun) and there are a lot of things that will suddenly (like in Morroblivion) be quest only, and you can't get them till you start a certain quest line... I never really liked that idea to be honest. The only reason Skywind is interesting to me is hopefully it will get non Morrowinders to play Morrowind for once.... that would be nice.... Once you get into it, you get hooked.... there is more to say, but I think I made my point.

The Skywind project looks incredible. I follow the development on twitter. There is no question that Morrowind is the best game of the series by far. However the pictures I recently saw of Sadrith Mora were impressive. Awesome really. Overall what I have seen makes Tamriel rebuilt look aged. Just take a look at what an ash vampire looks like. Now this is scary! www.youtube.com/watch?v=GtXKtWAbbsA You can see in game pictures and some of the concept art here --> imgur.com/a/6wrhW?gallery

candesco I'm not sure how Morroblivion was implemented... I never looked at it... but... Bethesda has given us all the land of Morrowind and out as far out as Cyrodiil even the white tower is there... and all this is already in the Skyrim game from them... you only have to walk through an invisible wall to see it... and explore if you want, it does get a bit sparse the farther you go but all the land is there. They are well aware of the modding community and it's way of thinking... they would have know we'd try and fill it all in eventually... if I'm correct all the Morrowind assets being used for this come from the Morrowind DVD and Morrowind has to be installed to use them (but no running )... in other words you have to also own it as well. So I really don't think Bethesda are going to stop this one. That really would be cutting off their nose to spite their face... just think of all the extra Morrowind sale (i.e. $Money$ ) it could produce. Can they pull it off and recreate the Morrowind feel though... now that's a very different question I for one am looking forward to seeing how they do with this...

Those textures as used in Skyrim are LOD's. If you remove the borders and travel there, they are unscaled and cannot be built upon. Well they can be but the results are at best sketchy.

*sigh*
Skyrim has too many engine limitations for it to be a faithful recreation, the Morrowind enchanting system for one would be virtually impossible to reproduce.
