I have read the wardrobe guide and applied the "fix for chargia". Even after applying that fix, when I do a console look at her inventory many of the items still have a "bad editor" notation. I do not really know what that means or if it is significant, but it caused me to check my own inventory. Even with my new character at creation, his roughspun tunic and foot wrappings have the same notation. I may not have a fast enough computer to want to implement that feature. I will see how it goes with the new character. Thanks for your responses. I seem to have hijacked this thread which started off to be about a face replacement:)

There are at least 5 options including things like "outside of a settlement", "outside of a city", "wilderness", "areas that are hostile". The subtlety of some of those distinctions may be as confusing to her as they are to me. At what point does "outside of a city" become "wilderness" and when does it change from "wilderness" to "outside of a settlement"? For my purposes I am happy to just have her put on her armor when we are outside and take it off when we are inside. The issues I have had relative to changes of apparel are with a character who completed her quest and asked her to remain in an older version of the mod. I had quit playing Skyrim for awhile and upgraded to 3.02 when I returned not long ago. For all I know that character had done some no-no's before I quit playing. For example, he may have used the UFO dialogue options to set her home. I have since read that screws up her AI. I did not notice anything odd until I upgraded and tried to use the wardrobe options. In any event, I have a new character who has yet to meet Vilja and will see how that goes when he does.

Oh she changes fast enough-it is probably a function of me trying to configure the options and not doing it correctly. I should have just left it the way it was before all of these options became available. Now I cannot seem to restore things to the way they used to be. For example, say she is inside wearing armor and I open dialogue with the intent to tell her she does not need to wear armor-the only dialogue option I get is to tell her to wear armor which she already is. I do not feel the need to play barbie doll with her anyway and would be happy if she would just change into her dress inside or while performing and switch to her armor outside or when not playing as she used to.

I tried the Narphous version. It looked pretty good but not as good as the picture. I have certainly found messing with face textures to be touchy. I never get it quite right and most of those option optional files invariably require some beauty mod I do not have. I am having some issues concerning Vilja dressing and undressing at odd times which a number of players are having. These were present for me both before and after I tried the alternate version. There is no picture of the Navetsea version, but I do not have any other Navetsea textures installed at least to my knowledge.
