It's your mod but I disagree with the choice to make the named weapons do the exact same damage as their non named counterparts. One of the fun things about the named weapons is not that they are named, its because they are slightly better than the normal ones or atleast they are supposed to be slightly better.
Valid point. I was watching a 100% speed run of Dark Souls 2 last night. Label it junk, junk and MORE JUNK! By the time the guy got near the end of the run he had about 15 screens full of junk. Of all that he was using 2 weapons, 2 sets of armor and about a dozen augmentations. So my attitude is excluding the vast majority of players. Of course with Fallout you can't carry more than a tiny fraction of that junk so you end up starting a junk museum as most Skyrim players end up doing, slowly turning the game into a snail as the DB bloats. Dark Souls has it more together there. Most of the junk is just icons with use effects attached that won't corrupt the game.
Seems like a mod is in order where you can make a pyramid pile of your junk in a public area instead of having to rummage around in various containers. A pile that obeys the physics engine but still permits you to pile it higher than the roofs of the average houses.
Okay, down to reality. Special named guns. That can work. All common ammunition is dialed down to not blow up the weakest factory made gun. Law suit city otherwise. Many of these weak ammos come from the old black power days. Pure shit metals, lousy powders and so on and the modern firearms are stuck with the crap. Take the 45/70. Factory load design it's a piece of crap with 6 foot drop at 1000 yards. But the modern version firing tailored powder, primer and bullets it has been revived to be the present day big game gun of choice. Nuff noise there.
So what is required is custom ammunition. That requires expertise with the GECK that is beyond me right now. Call the high powered ammunition labeled with a W for Wildcat. Stick that in the average factory gun and it degrades to crap super fast. Like each shot has a chance of blowing the chamber. Maybe 2 or 3 shots and the gun is raped.
So use Paciencia as example. Overbuilt heavy duty receiver and barrel. Accurized. Fires regular ammo and wildcats. Wildcats deliver 30% more muzzle energy. That works. Serious contender in the 1000 yard club.
Home brew/cheap Anti Mat Gun. One shot from a 14,500 FPS wildcat load and blown breech. That ammo was designed to punch through 1 inch of steel and knock planes out of the sky a mile away. Not going to be happy camper in mild steel receiver.
So you just made the whole mod work. The modern day ammo in the Fallout is pisswater weak. The watered down balancing done by developer is correct after all. If you want full firepower you need the named weapons and wildcat ammo.
Revision and re-vision. All firearms stay the same. Wildcat, W, ammo is introduced which gives more or less real kerbanging. Now I need to work it in where normal, non named or special firearms, rapidly go to thunderfuk or even die when shooting W ammo.
So how do I hand the code that is on firearms to the ammo?
Then named and special firearms get real longevity. 50,000 shots is okay by them.
