Hi there! First and foremost, thank you for this wonderful mod. Aside from some quirkyness, I can and am appreciating the time you (and everyone) put into it. But I'm having a problem: Vilja seems to have stopped progressing the romance - I say she, because I'm keeping her disposition up and have told her three times she's the most important person in Skyrim to me. She's asked me 10 times now what my favorite city is, my thoughts on thievery, skooma, etc... she's asked me 15 times about love handles and freckles... it's getting to the point I don't even want to talk to her when she asks to speak to her for a minute So how do I figure out what the heck is going on? Is she waiting for me to advance one of my quests? I'm using the 4.01 mod with no face or hair stuff. Official mods are Dawnguard and Hearthfire; unofficial are the divorce mod, the high textures mod, and all the "unofficial" mod patches. And as an aside: you may want to tell her not to bring Bruse into the house edit: btw, I can tell her I love her and she calls me sweetheart.

Hmmm.. Well for one thing in 4.01 if Bruse comes in the house she will automatically tell him to leave, you can also specify a stable that he will run to. Let us know if she isn't telling him to leave right away. That aside, you really need to be in cities, perhaps her favorite cities and just meander around in the late afternoon to evening... Did you finish the ingredients? Did you do the cure for the Donkey tale... That is important... Donkey tale must be finished to move on...
Also things will happen at home in the early evening, if she is relaxing. The romantic stuff really doesn't trigger unless you are in a safe place...

She did not tell him to leave. How do I specify a stable? I did finish her quest - I've played about 60 hours since finishing her donkey tail quest; the bard stuff was finished long ago. I am in cities and inns a lot, for her and to sell, advance quests, etc. We have had many full days at the skyrim homes (telling her to relax here for a while) and at our specific "home sweet home". Is it just on a really long timer? She's having better conversation with my house carl

Okay, so she told you about the special armor that requires wolf pelts? Had a bad dream about you and was scared? Had a night out at an Inn? All that? It does take time. She doesn't do love at first sight, it can take a bit of time...
Edit: You aren't previously married?

If you want to avoid spoilers you can try our trick: Go outside a city where there is nothing to disrupt you. Empty scenery. Use the Vilja reset spell. Walk with her for a minute, challenge her to a friendly fight and lose, walk some more and use the reset spell again. Then walk-run, not fast travel to a distant city, best being Riften or Markarth. Enter the city and spend the entire day until late evening there. If nothing triggers leave the city to peaceful area and repeat the resets.
Collin, you might get cybersquirt to check the quest stage. I've had Vilja stuck like this for many hours of playing. A month RL. I got mine unstuck (it was badly corrupted saved games in our case) and would like to know what is going on.
Example. Yesterday Vilja made a quest related remark that got interrupted. I gave her an RL hour and she didn't repeat the request (go shopping at certain city)*. So we left Whiterun, outside the city we did the above resets, then walked to Riften. Upon entering the city Vilja was an avalanche of unfinished-incompleted scripts. I just followed along and she got unknotted.
*BTW, this was an odd one. It turned out Vilja had two concurrent scripts running that got stuck. An evening out and special shopping. I didn't know both could run at the same time. And an extra. Upon properly and completely finishing the Donkey Tale, then doing the base and addition wolf pelt quests (I already had about 50 wolf pelts), getting a letter from Brit and doing the bard mnumber, until buying Vilja a special something was only 3 hours of game play. I suppose, in spite of the interrupted script, we did everything just perfectly.

I don't like messing with quest stages, that's a last resort, because if you ADV the stage as an experiment, you are pretty much done since they are interconnected. As far as spoilers for the romance, there is of course a spoiler filled step by step on the Nexus as part of Viljas' misc files.. www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/download/1000067098

Maybe?

Did you change the time scale? If you are concerned, let us know the following: open console, click on Vila and enter Tye following commands getStage AAEMcompviljaquest1 getStage AAEMcompviljaromance1 GetFactionrank XX0845F8 (replace XXL with first 2 digits of Vilja's form id)
Otherwise, I think Collin's suggestions are spot on.

One little trick I use, non spoiler. I ask Vilja 'Lets just talk...' option then 'Tell me about yourself.' If she has a script/operation pending she will answer: not right now.

Thank you all for your suggestions and feedback! I will check out the romance story you posted, wotan. I did peek at the romance spoiler posted at nexusmods but nothing tells me how to get to any of those points. I do, however, know I haven't gotten any of that dialogue. If all else fails, I will try Sniffles' suggestion. Edit: Whoops! I did rescue Vilja and she did ask about friend/more than. Nothing on a nightmare that I recall. Okay, so she told you about the special armor that requires wolf pelts? Had a bad dream about you and was scared? Had a night out at an Inn? All that? It does take time. She doesn't do love at first sight, it can take a bit of time... Edit: You aren't previously married? To be honest, I'm playing again after 2 years of not - I seem to remember having a date night at an inn.. and she did decide she loves me around 20 hours (?) after finishing the donkey tail quest - for some reason I just kept putting that quest off. I was married to the Whiterun woman, hence the divorce mod but I did successfully divorce her.. I remember the berating. Vilja did mention that she wished she had some leather or animal fur (I think), so I gave her some.. 20ish hours later, nothing yet. She may have made wolf pet armor for me 2 years ago but gods knows where it is if she did. I did find, in Vilja's dialogue options, the option to check on her quest status with er.. some woman in the Bannered Mare - the only quest I "didn't know" was one with a bottle. :? That is her exact response me when I ask her to tell me about herself. I have only used the console to spawn a few items, fly, and move players to me. The game gives me 150.00, 5.00 and 2.00 respectively.

Stuck at giving her wolf pelts. Take all wolf pelts away from her and junk them. Then hit Vilja with her reset spell. Next, go get 5 normal wolf pelts from wolves, not containers or ice wolfs whatever. Wait an while in game. An hour maybe, then speak to her looking for wolf pelt dialogue.

Okay, I'll do that too. Thanks, Sniffles. In reading wotan's saga, I did get the nightmare dialogue. I get the (start of) Aerin and Mjoll dialogue (I guess) but no options to answer her with... edit: The date "I seem to remember" must have been from Oblivion.

Aye, you must speak to Vilja with the correct wolf pelts in your inventory.
