The first time around with Vilja I found 5 pelts and stuck them into Vilja's inventory as I found them. And waited, and waited...

Well... I sold the wolf pelts I had, hit her with the reset spell, and hunted 5+ wolves for pelts. I'm still waiting for the dialogue to come up. We've spent 3 full game days in the house and I've been playing for about 12 hours. She tried to dialogue me in Harkon's castle right before the final battle dialogue so I guess that's not flagged as a "dungeon". I also had to reset her because she decided (I guess) she needed to go run back to kill/do something at the location we had fast traveled away from. She still won't respond to the "tell me about yourself" dialogue. And now she jumps location every time I go into her extra inventory. I don't know anymore but this is getting really frustrating. I mean, how many times is she going to ask me the same questions? edit: nvm. I now see that I need to wander around a city in the evening (which I can safely do now that I've dealt with those pesky vampires)
Thanks again!

I mean, how many times is she going to ask me the same questions? I'm staring in the direction of Collin, Wotan, Dova, Amgepo and Emma (to name a few) as if to say, 'NOW WHAT?' I suppose first off is to check the progresso-meter. Do the getStage AAEMcompviljaromance1 again. Now, if you possibly could, can you back up to that 12 hour point with a save game. Don't stay in the house. Vilja's quests trigger in various locations. I'd go stroll the wilderness and visit cities.
NARSTY! I would avoid Harkon-ville and that entire moonch of the Dawnguard quest line while you have a concurrent quest going. The DG quest works fine, sort of, but the castle, Soul Cairn, Forgotten Toilet, and Serana all have a nice dose of bugs that can goof things big time. Just better to take major quests one at a time.
As for the rest, if you want to continue pounding away post Harkon, Vilja has a pending script that isn't going burp. The big Vilja cheeses might have some magical remedy but I'd take Vilja the heck away from quest and conflict zones, walk her about, hit her with the reset spell and lose a friendly fight with her in each location. Wilderness, quiet corner of a city and in your home.
PS Right now I am doing the exact same parts of the Vilja quest. My game was horribly messed up by the Donkey Tail. Amgepo and Collin got me out of that mess and Vilja back to chatting. I monitored her with the 'Tell me about herself' and when she refused, I just wandered cities and wilderness. She went through each stage without a hitch. Hey! She's Vilja. She deserves being given a little special attention, right? You got her sewing together wolf pelts in the middle of an epic battle with the vampires. Tut tut.

You got it. You have to be in cities during the evening for the dinner date to happen.

At this point, I'd like a total spoil - is this going to be something she specifically wants to talk to me about or is it going to be a "..why don't we blah" type of thing? I'm now to the point where I'm making her crab legs every night.. I want crab legs every night! And I had to deal with the vampire quest line. I didn't run into any bugs but every place I landed, I did run into high level vampires (I'm level 86). They were killing too many townies. The places where I had to fight dragons AND vampires were particularly fun.. I'm seeing a lot of legendary dragons now. o.0 edit: Still at 5.00 so I'm waiting for the date night, not wolf pelts. But thanks for the helps.. I'm just a little too frustrated and way confused/concerned. If she'd just get on with it instead of asking me the same danged questions, we'd be married by now.

I'm not sure where exactly in the romance that stage is, but I think to recall the date at the inn comes before the Wolfcry armour.
You need to be in a city for the dialogue to trigger. It has to be after a certain time (not sure exactly when) When Vilja tells you she'd like to spend a night at an inn, approve and follow her to the nearest inn. Spend a few in-game hours in the inn and the quest should update. You can always give Vilja a few drinks and something to eat - she loves that.

Cybersquirt, this is something she will ask to talk to you specifically. You just finished the nightmare conversation with her. Don't worry about the wolf pelts, you aren't there yet.

Did you change the time scale? If you are concerned, let us know the following: I have only used the console to spawn a few items, fly, and move players to me. The game gives me 150.00, 5.00 and 2.00 respectively. So he's at 5, wolf pelt time. Did evening out. Or rather was before doing the Harkon stuff. We need to get an updated romance stage

Vilja should recognize the wolf pelts in your inventory more or less instantly when you talk to her. Consoling the correct pelts worked fine when I did it. (player.additem 3ad74 5)

Dova's right, I haven't had date night yet; I haven't been able to respond to Aerin and Mjoll so I suspect this is something she just generally mentions as well? The Harkon stuff has been going on for quite a while, I bought that DLC before I quit playing in 2013 - Hearthfire is the "new" DLC for me. Also, when I quit playing in 2013, Vilja didn't have a stage 2 romance so the date night I was thinking of was from Oblivion. So I'd better not be on wolf pelts, although they're not going anywhere until she asks for them.

Well, she is still replying "Not now, maybe later." to me asking about her.. Yesterday, I went to Whiterun. Spent the whole day walking around the frigging city. She eventually says "I'm hungry and thirsty" so we go to the Inn (since I'm thinking this is date night). We spent 2 hours or so at the Inn where she is "relaxing here". Nothing, so we leave and walk around the city until I get 'I'm sleepy', (arg!) so we go to sleep in the Whiterun home. Next day, I have her show me a place but by the time we get back to the city it's too late, so we sleep. Next day, I have her run me to Solitude where I send her shopping; we wander around from 4pm to her asking me to talk, exactly at 8pm, only to be asked about Khajits, or the other stuff she's asked me about 10 times before. Arg! Does she think I'm not divorced? I know I got divorced using the statue mod. She would have mentioned something before or during the dream stage, right? And I know she hasn't specifically asked for a date night. :whimper: edit: she couldn't have asked about date night because since I started playing again I finished donkeytail and got the wet pillow dialogue. I will do that, Sniffles - something needs a flushing fer sure.

Yes, you're divorced. The romance quest is started. Do you have a saved game from just after the Donkey Tail quest is complete, or better, just after the Dream? Let me simplify. I just reloaded from after the Donkeytail quest. Dedicating the play to advancing the Vilja quest and doing nothing else, in 3 hours Vilja sent us to Dawnstar to meet parents. That's about as fast as the quest can progress I think. In order to zoom through her quest to get things to meeting parents, I pre set up some things: Once the Dream is mentioned: Obtain 15 wolf pelts. Become a member of the Bards College. Have Ear, Guide and mammoth tusk in inventory. Wander Wilderness around Riften doing repeated 1 hour waits and entering Riften occasionally. Pay close attention to Vilja dialogue, avoiding encounters or anything that could interrupt her. Night out should happen quite soon after dream. Then she asks about Mjoll. Then the wolf pelts. Wait and wander. You get the Wolfcry armor. Wait and wander. She wants more pelts. Vilja receives gift/letter from mom. More wait and wander. Vilja wants poem. Make it on the fly. Wait and wander near and in Riften or Markarth. Buy ring. Engaged. Letter from parents. She takes gifts from PC. Wait and wander. Another letter. Off you two go. I might be forgetting a couple of details. My quest brains is asleep. Wait and wander is wait and hour, wander a few minutes changing zones. Enter city, leave city. Wait and wander some more.

Arg.. I really don't want to go back that far.. That's about 2 1/2 weeks of real-time play and I've been very busy trying to advance the main game/faction questline/s. ..although it would allow me to get rid of those stupid, waste of space crafting/alchemy towers in one of my Hearthfire homes, donkeytail was pretty much the first quest I finished since I've restarted playing. I do think my main problem was not being able to stroll around the cities at night because of multiple vampire attacks/NPC deaths. It does concern me, however, that she's still just asking about khajits/skooma/Dark Brotherhood/Favorite city/.... I finished her (v1.5) bard quest in 2013, though I did see that's been expanded. I wonder, is she trying to catch up to those changes? She is doing something weird, some spell effect, every time we enter a dungeon and during the crawl. At first I thought it was related to me learning the 2nd word of soul tear but I've since seen it's something she is doing. Since chants are new, maybe she wants to persue them before she asks for date night? But.. eh.. as to the saves, I'm sure I do.. still, it doesn't show as a specific quest in the player journal so how I could I know (query), from one save to the next, when the dream dialogue happened? Is 4.01 supposed to add a new one or will my journal just mention being able to locate her? Every time I ask her about her quest she says we've finished it. edit: (becaue you updated - thanks for the step by step ) When she mentions Mjoll, I still get no options to respond, just the main interaction dialogue menu.. this is also a general statement though, right? I was under the impression, based on the nervous suitor guide, that dialogue (at least the one I can respond to) doesn't occur until after date night.

Okay. We have all been missing a few things. First, have you cleaned your saved games lately. Level 86 means almost inevitable corruption here and there. Changing or updating Vilja and other stuff adds to that. Yes, the vampires in the city could easily trash the quest line. Combat will stop many scripts dead in their tracks including night out at the inn. Bard quests are different. Side quests. PC being a bard just expedites the poem part. Checking save games. Easy. Open a save game, go to console, getstageAAEMViljacompromance1 You are looking for 2 or better, 1. Your Vilja version should be 4.1 which is the newest. lovkullen.net/Emma/index.htmHonestly, with all the interruptions and updates reloading an early save, making sure Skyrim and Dawnguard have the latest patch, you do a save game cleaning, and you have the latest version of Vilja is by far the best move. Please consider this. Then I suggest right after Donkey Tail getting the vampires out of the picture. Don't have the wolf pelts in inventory. If Vilja asks for them her script will park, stop at that point, and wait. Get rid of the interruptions, then do the pelts. I realize reloading an earlier save is aggravating but pursuing corrupted quest lines that cannot be completed, doing fix after fix, is much worse. I was experiencing a lot of little problems and last week reverted to an earlier save. I lost about 400 hours of game play but it turned out to be nice. I refocused and changed how I play the game, changed my style and intentions, and just considered it a new game partly started. It was worth it. (And having amor 2000+ and a bow that did 4600 damage sneak attack was novel at first but became boring as hell event\ually)

By "cleaned saved games" you mean deleting down to a number under 200?
