Your version should be 4.01 (sorry Sniffles). There will be a version 4.1 but it's not prepared yet.

By "cleaned saved games" you mean deleting down to a number under 200? OH FORK! FORK FORK FORK and fook. Yes. Don't delete them but move all but the last 10 or 20 to some other drive. Those saved games make an unholy mess on the hard drive and the game engine gets really fussy. And now... HELP!!Would someone on top of it please zip on what save game cleaner is best and a quick how to? I do not want to display my stupidity here! Right. 4.01. Seyheb. Save game clean please.

I have been using Save game script cleaner (also known as Savetool) successfully for some time. One warning however. If you have made or altered your character using the Racemenu mod, make sure you export the head or a preset before you clean, as you may need to re-import it afterwards. And of course - back up your save. You can do that within the utility.

Hehe.. okay. I've got plenty of HD space. I'll just create a backup save folder elsewhere. So I'll do that and spend a few more days or a week wandering the city and wilds. I'm sorry for the lack of initial clarification on my part.. I have been very busy jumping from place to place, building my Hearthfire homes, and getting my quest list down to about 10 items, including misc quests.. edit: I do have an unfinishable quest in my list so I'll check out that tool. Thanks, Seyheb. And I've done nothing ..weird using console, so I should be fine.

btw.. <snip> (And having amor 2000+ and a bow that did 4600 damage sneak attack was novel at first but became boring as hell eventually) Er, you had to be 'cheating', right? I've done that in other games, and yeah, "old, quick" indeed. lol.. I will start a new game (especially since this news of 4.1) but not yet. I'm feeling a need to finish this one first... I'm too far into it. Honestly, I'd rather let Vilja be stuck and finish the official game before I start over. Which brings me back to: How do I get Vilja to learn bard chants? Or are these something she will learn on her own? It wasn't originally part of her questline, having updated from v1.5 (2013) to 4.01 (current). It is odd that she's stuck at progressing to part 2 - but, as I've mentioned before, those vampires made evenings difficult.

It is odd that she's stuck at progressing to part 2 - but, as I've mentioned before, those vampires made evenings difficult. No cheating. About 200 hours of collecting herbs and improving alchemy, collecting gems and improving enchanting, and collecting trash and perfecting smithing. I could have gone a little better. PC still has 2 archery augmentations at only 40 and some of the potions were second rate. Vilja learns bard chants by doing the bard quests Wilburt lays upon you. Don't forget Vilja also has spells. Sounds like you have one going off when you enter dungeons. Vampires only spawn once per city area visit. Enter in early evening, get rid of them, then stay in the area. Just had a lovely romp in Falkreath. 4 vampires, 4 thralls and 4 death hounds. Something screwed up in the game. They aren't supposed to spawn that many. Maybe 2 spawnings went off at once. Had to reload the game about 10 times to keep all local residents alive. PC VERY underpowed and overleveled. Still have level 20 equipment at level 43

I've set her spells, the ones Heneri taught her, but Wilbur has nothing more to say to me. If she is chanting, I see no option to choose them. It must be her shield spell, which I did tell her to use.
Is "perfecting" multiples of Legendary, or just Legendary? I've gotten my armor to 400ish but nowhere near 2000.
And yeah, I was consistently getting groups of 3 vampires which included Adepts and Nightwalkers or some such. They were killing NPCs in 5 seconds and even wiped out all the guards at a particular tower once.

Has Wilburt given you the bard quests and have you completed them? If you haven't done them, go speak to Wilburt. If he doesn't give you the quests your game is REALLY CONSTIPATED! A laxative, saved game cleaning etc is in order. If still no quests, you need to give it an enema. (Reload earlier save).
Here be the wide awake bright eyed cohort of mine.
The mega way to unconstipate Skyrims. Back up your entire hard drive to floppy disks... or don't. But a back up of the entire Data folder in Skyrim is a very very very very very very good idea. Make certain all updates and patches are in and up to date and Skyrim is 1.9.32.08 and if you have it SKSE is 1.7.02, unofficial Skyrim patch 19.2.1.1 Check the size of your recent saved games. If over 16 meg you be dicing with danger. Over 17 = beat me, I'm stupid! Untick all mods. Start game, open console and type save RAWSAVE or some similar name. Exit game. Run Skyrim Save Cleaner and Save Tool following their instructions. Tick the Vilja mod and restart game. Walk her about a little and check all functions of hers and PC. One by one, retick the other mods and check each time (if possible and time and sanity permits). Now with Vilja, if she is still mucho stucko, uninstall the mod. Wait 17 in game years, or 52 hours, whichever comes first, exit game. Retick her, restart game, go to Bannered mare, have a chat with Beatta and bring things up to speed. Enjoy. Warning. Do not do the above while enjoying psychoactive substances or while pregnant. PiSs. Rawsave is for when you perilously screw up one or more of the above steps.

I did her bard quests, lute and flute, in 2013. I think she's very much stuck at progressing to phase 2. I've spent several evenings in a handful of cities.. did your wilderness trick.. and all I get are the same old questions. 52 playing hours/15 game years, right? And won't I then have to start from scratch with her? My saves are good so far but getting close; I'm heading to 14mb. I won't be able to play another 52 hours at the rate it's growing. I ran the cleaner and had to use the advanced option for it to do anything. It removed 650 "scripts attached to non-existent created forms", which is good because I started getting CTD's ... It's time to wrap this game up

If all else fails, simply remove all equipment you want to keep from Vilja then untick the Vilja mod. Then start the game waiting 52 hours. Exit the game and tick the mod again. Go meet Vilja at the Bannered mare for the first time and do the initial dialogue. Then in the Bannered mare you will find a woman named Beatta. Talk to her. She is a Vilja mod component and you can get her to move you to most any place in the Vilja quest lines.

I do believe that's what I should have done a while ago - thanks, Sniffles! While slogging through most of her quest line again was tedious, I noticed the change in the Bard's College quest for one.. since I had already finished the Bard quest, I think she was confused because I didn't have to option to ask her to perform at an Inn. As an aside, I learned to be standing while she's performing or the controls get really wonky. Ultimately, she was not happy about being upgraded from 1.5 to 4.01 so late in the game; I really should have known better seeing all the things that got added. I had to delete 212 orphaned script instances (good thing for that SaveTool) but I'm feeling hopeful that she's finally "unconstipated". If not, I'll try again on another playthru. Thanks again for all the help.

212 orphans? That's not good. We had 9000+ once. The entire game was a little funky. Like as in CTD every few of minutes, entire inventories vanishing, couldn't exit Breezehome, dead NPCs just freezing in their tracks instead of falling down dead, dungeons and wilderness areas not respawning... and Vilja quit giving any dialogue at all.... all sorts of fluff. The save games were almost 17 meg. I miss that game. Sindra picked up a Daedric Warhammer from who knows where and looked really...

Ooh! Daedric drops! I'm finally seeing them in chests and a few vendors are selling a couple..
So if I perform for Sindra (or get Vilja to perform) does Wilbert have anything more to offer Vilja, or can he be dismissed?
And yes, 212 wasn't good, but I suspect those were related to 1.5 - certainly related to the game temporarily removing Vilja because my saves were clean before that. Now Vilja's saying a handful of things I haven't heard before (yay!) and I'm currently waiting for the dream dialogue.

Glad you got things going again! Emma added quite a bit of dialogue along the way, making things even more fun. I'm getting some comments I've never heard before and I've gone through the entire Vilja main quest about 6 to 8 times. Lots of surprises heading your way. I think Emma said she has recorded over 9000 voiced comments. Not sure if that was all for Vilja.
Wilburt's bardic quests are entirely optional. I'm not sure if I've ever done them all. They are using the radiant quest engine. You will also get a second follower through him who has a lot of interaction with Vilja. And of course, performances if you want to partake of them, also optional. If you get tired of him sending you all over the map you can just ignore him. Emma may have additional plans for him in some later update.

As I recall Vilja has right around 6500, (That was last specific count anyway, there are likely a few dozen more at this point), the rest are Vanilla followers, Inigo, and of course Viljas family and side characters.
