As I recall Vilja has right around 6500, (That was last specific count anyway, there are likely a few dozen more at this point), the rest are Vanilla followers, Inigo, and of course Viljas family and side characters. That is absolutely amazing. Talk about a labor of love. When you think about recording, how many times were a simple statement, exclamation, query etc have to be re-recorded? How many were discarded? How many shelved for later use? And then the sync. And context flow. The appropriate tone done just right. Mind boggled.

That's one of the many reasons this mod is so great - the love. Okay, we're back to the part I was trying to trigger before.. it's probably been about a week in-game since the dream dialogue, which got unglued right after killing bandits in front of one of my Heartfire homes.. not on a day mentioned in the Nervous Suitor guide but I only care that it happened (just when I had given up hope of it happening, lol).. My questions are: what Ear and what Guide? And how do I avoid encounters? I have dragons landing on me almost every time I run around the wilds - or bears, etc. edit: Is this where she suddenly says (when you click-to-talk with her) "I really need to.. you can tag along"? How do I know which of these trips leads to anything? She's done it twice for nothing so I told her to stop.. In fact, she wanted to talk to a vendor in Markarth before I reset (unchecked the mod, waited 52 hours) her. I suspect both were running at the same time then as well..

Okey dokey plonks and fritters. Vilja wants two specific books. Where they be is in the guide. FUT BIRST!! Disposition above 90, please.
Vilja has a safeguard. She only mentions the romantics in cities, to avoid monster enemas. So toddle on over the to local city, and spend some time during the day. If you got vampired, they only happen once per entry into the city, be it from outside the city or leaving a building. So get them out of the way then mooch about and enjoy the flavor of the game. Follow the guide if you must, each step and stage is in it except the 23 dragon hides and the cat hunt.

Her disposition is always above 90, I've never seen it below 96.. Vampires have been dealt with so they aren't an issue - I almost miss them. Almost. I must follow the guide because I am almost done with the game, and my saves are now at 15mb. (edit; check that, 14) At 600+ gaming hours, it's getting tedious. I even finished the Companions quest line to extend her romance timer... I'm about ready to put on the Mara amulet and marry Aela. I spent a week in Solitude, guess that isn't the city to do it in. I find it really ..funny you mention Riften as Vilja has so little good to say about Riften - she's constantly mentioning how dirty it is. edit: and the avoidance I'm asking about is when you suggest running around in the wilds, "avoiding encounters or anything that could interrupt her".

If you're aiming to shop for rings, Riften or Markarth are the towns to go.

I'm waiting for the date... again... but thanks for the post. edit: I don't like messing with quest stages, that's a last resort, because if you ADV the stage as an experiment, you are pretty much done since they are interconnected. Meaning what, exactly? She's now asked Aela 3x about archery, gone off shopping (for nothing quest related) in every city, and (after every boss fight) we're (back to) asking the same questions about skooma and other assorted life choices in Skyrim. My frustration is at it's peak, so it's either I advance to/through the date or sit her at home.

All those things are flavour topics, and have nothing to do with her questlines. I agree, they become repetetive when you hear them over and over.
Are you at the point where Vilja keeps mentioning that she wants to visit a city, but not Solitude? She will mention Riften or Markarth. If you visit either of those two towns during business hours, Vilja will visit the market and talk to one of the merchants (Madesi in Riften) She'll then suggest you talk to said merchant - your cue to buy an engangement ring.

No, she decides she wants to do some shopping when I click-to-talk her - I have nothing in her "items to sell" inventory because of it as I can't stop her when she decides she needs to do this. I had disabled this habit but decided to re-enable it and just keep that sell bag empty.
We haven't had date night yet - she's asking me about everything but that. I've wandered (in city, doing quests in between) Riften for 3 days, markarth for a few, Solitude for a few, etc.. I'm under the impression I need date night (and a few other things) before the ring. Er, right?
edit: I did tell her not to wander to the tavern whenever she was thirsty after she decided she need a drink right after we left the Bannered Mare. Would this have any affect?

Yeah, the guide mentions all that, but thanks. And I've got nothing more to add other than to reiterate: I am to the point where I'm going to sit her at home because she is driving me nuts talking about everything (over and over) but advancing her quest.

Okay, in combing file readme's/posts and loading SKSE as a last resort, I see now that 4.01 is not working as intended - I have not received any chat horns from Vilja for starters, who knows what else I'm mising - when do I get these chant quests from Mikael? So she's still stuck in v1.5. I unticked her and waited 52 hours, that did not help. Any other suggestions?
edit: Wilbert, not Mikael.. ugh.. o_0

No chat horns together with everything else suggests to me that 4.01 may not have been installed properly. Did you use NMM to install 4.01? It can sometimes fail to do so properly with large files, particularly on 32-bit systems. I suggest installing the files manually over what is already installed. That will do no harm if the files are already installed properly and is worth a try.

Just download Vilja manually then drop Emcompviljaskyrim.bsa and Emcompviljaskyrim.esp into the data folder, telling it to overwrite. Then starting Skyrim you should get a small flood of Vilja updates. (If you don't it's Seyheb's fault and I didn't type this) Actually, I did just that and Vilja dumped a huge load of foof on the PC. Along with some really nifty new dialogue and a few other tidbits.

There are some other files to install too. The simplest way of installing 4.01 after you have unzipped the downloaded package is to copy and paste the included Data folder into Skyrim, allowing it to merge with the Data folder that is already there and overwrite files. That folder contains all the files you need.

OMFG.. I don't know what happened when I originally upgraded but now she is Vilja 2.0 and gave me 2 horns. Is that where she's supposed to be? 2.0 and not 4?
edit: I'm so happy I could cry - a quick chat horn! So that makes 3.
