So I enter the church only to find people in the aisle and I spend the next 10 minutes dancing with a pillar (trying to find a way to the spot I'm supposed to land, I assume). Vilja's naked but whatever The one time I was able to just walk up the aisle, we stood there with nothing happening for 5 minutes. Help?

Reload from the autosave when you entered the chapel. Otherwise, the most recent autosave. That glitch happens all the time.

That's what I did at first... and then twice more but it just did the same thing. So just keep trying until I can make it to the altar? edit: Well, I just waited for the game to fire the ceremony script (?) while I danced with various points around the room. It seems to me that this could be avoided if everyone were made to sit the eff down. I had no path to my bride! Underscoring the ability NPC's have to push us outt'a the way but not vice-versa.

That's what I do. I also try to remember to make a manual, staring at the blank door, save just before entering so the game doesn't have a huge load of data to put away during that autosave, along with loading what is probably the most complex scene normally encountered in the game. My rule is, make that save, exit the game, restart with that save, enter, then if the PC gets bumped about, Tindra being a common bumper, just reload the save which will only take a few seconds. What you want is a clear unobstructed path for when the cut scene goes off. It also seems to help a little to be in third person camera view about as close as the camera will be for that cut scene. That also serves to remind you to put away weapons and double check your attire is right. If Vilja hasn't got dressed in her wedding gown you also want to reload as a script is hung up. If all else fails, reload a save from earlier in the Bee and Barb around the time Vilja has given you instructions of the wedding time. Hit her with her reset spell right then. That helps clear away other scripts she may be running (Thanks to the weirdness of the Windpeak Inn) As in this shot. I collected Vilja's dad, did the duties in the cave, then noticed Vilja's marker wasn't in Riften

Reload previous save. You shouldn't be able to control your character as soon as you enter the temple. If you can, reload the save, go to Bee and Barb, and ask Keerava to help you with the wedding and restart the scene, go through all steps with her.

I have 2 saves as I anticipated problems I had 3 but overwrote one with returning to Riften with Dad in tow, and then standing at the Chapel of Mara's door. I'm not Keerava'a favorite person (Thieve's Guild quest) so I didn't think to talk to her - am I introducing buggers by not talking to her? edit - I'll test that and see what happens. She did congratulate me during the reception. Crazy lizard.. I could not control my char, as scripted.. I just let her be a bumper ball through the script, Vilja dressed in the middle of the ceremony, and everything else went as it should. I think.

Am I supposed to exit the dialogue in between the text prompts (1a, 1b, 2, etc)? She (Keerava) just says "Of course" in response to them. And then, as predicted, when I do exit dialogue she tells me where the door is..

No, just select all the steps in sequence from 1a to 7b (? I can't quite remember). She telling you to head for the door was in response to your thieves guild quest. These steps rerun the scripts to set up the wedding scene.
EDIT: but it sounds like you already figured it out. Good for you.

The quest hasn't moved down to the finished area of my journal. Is this intentional?

It isn't marked as finished for a very good reason. If more content wedding related is added and we push an update you would need to get married all over again to see it. Keeping it open is best in this case.

Oh, alright. That makes sense. I'm just one of those completionists - and now she's got 3 quests lingering there.
