So.... I have always wanted to make a companion mod, just never had the desire to deal with all the scripting and dialogue, and trying to keep them alive without making them op (I never knew you could make them level up so I always thought they'd have to be a certain level to be worth while). I am using Grumpy's companion mod to get started... and I might have a few question that I need help with... the first one is... Morrowind Script extender.... I have it installed via MGEXE so I never got the version that runs without MGEXE... do I need that, and if so, how do I make it work just for the CS and not on Morrowind while I play (as I already have it installed there). This mod is going to be rather complex, with events where scripting might be needed (he interacts with the Main Quest in a similar, however opposite way, that Julan does). I have done dialogue before, and as much of a pain as it is, I think I can handle that fairly well, but I might still need help. Another thing is, I don't have a unique face/hair style for him. Does anyone know any modder resource that I can use for that? Thanks for your time

Good luck. Major undertaking. That it is! It will take a long time as life issues (health, work, youtube) will make me take my time, which to me is a good thing! Gives me time to make more ideas. I already have his background and family part done, so far as ideas go, but dialogue will take a while, and more indepth personality will take time to make as well. That, and some custom items (I can make 3D models, just not good with textures....) quests, etc. Will be there. Basically, he's a temple devout that wants to be an Ordinator, but has little training in combat, and needs some help. However, no Ordinators will train him, and his father (a former Ordinator) is too ill and old to train him. So he stands outside of Vivec city, waiting for someone to take him on. He refuses to join the Fighters and Mage's guild in order to get training, and he is already part of Great House Indoril, so the other houses are out of the question. However, not even his own house will train him or pay heed to him... he's basically a no body to all of them. While he's a devout believer in the Tribunal, and a member of the temple, he can't get training from them because they have bigger things to deal with. I was thinking maybe having him doing the Seven Graces... not sure how I want to approach it...

If I may offer a little fluff. A trick the great playwrights all use. As you work on things, take notes. LOTS and LOTS of notes! Dialogue the character may say, choreographing mannerisms and situations, facial expressions, all in the minds eye view. This is what gives life and three dimension to characters. Lift them off the pages and bring them into the real world.
Many playwrights physically act things out to see what works. Do mirror work. And as you do this, fleshing out the character, have a constant reminder, maybe a sign on the wall, of the normal general mien of the character. Morose, snide, cheerful, thoughtful and so on. Put your own mind in that vein as your progress. Then add notes of character traits and quirks that get tossed in. Hamlet: snide, moribund and morose with a dark humour streak. Jaques, rapier sharp wit and keen insight. Puck, frivolous, never taking anything too seriously. Vilja, staid, practical, down to earth with a little hint of vixen and humor.

You do not need MWSE to make a good companion mod. Should you decide to go with MWSE, you'll need MWEdit because there is no way for the CS to be able to compile MWSE scripts.
Emma has released a number of quality Morrowind heads, so I would look at those. For hairs, I would start with Better Heads.
Good luck; we're all counting on you.

Emma knows more about Morrowind than most people have forgotten about Oblivion and Skyrim. I am sure that if you have specific questions, and you PM her. She will be happy to help. Although posting here will certainly get her attention.
