Okay so I've been playing Vilja in Skyrim for the first time, and I might be wrong here, but is Vilja supposed to go back to Dawnstar after taking her Mother, and sisters to the Bee, and Barb? I made a little video to show what I'm talking about here.
I don't know if she is supposed to hightail it back to Dawnstar or not, the quest stage when you hoover over the marker indicates that she should be in Riften when you give her the wedding dress, but four times I've reloaded, and four times she returns to Dawnstar instead of being in the Bee, and Barb. The one time I actually caught her on the road to Dawnstar was when I made the video. I cannot even initiate dialog with her after giving her the wedding dress, and strawberries. When I click on her all she does is say that while I was getting the dress She, and her Mother have talked to the priest in Riften and arranged the wedding already. Then she just wanders around, and has random conversations with the NPCs.I can not dismiss her, and I can not ask for a friendly fight. I have cleaned my save to no change in the situation. Also the reset spell does not work on her either. I have waited over night, but not for any longer then that. I will try waiting for a while to see if she shows up at the Bee, and Barb, but I'm not holding my breath any. Also I can not go to a previous as I save a lot during a quest, and I mistakenly overwrote the save in the Dawnstar Inn.

You've got Windpeak Inn-itus. A script supposed to run and complete at the inn is hung up. Use the reset spell repeatedly. You can also try to get her back into the Inn and use the reset spell. If all else fails, load a save from before meeting her family at the Inn. You don't want a save while in the Inn but before it. Make a special save before entering the Inn. This is another typical version of that problem: The family arrived in Riften, Vilja sort of got lost.

Thanks for the reply Sniffles, but as I said in my original post I can not reload an earlier save, as I made the mistake of saving over my earlier saves when I was retrieving the wedding dress, and I can not engage Vilja in any type of conversation after giving her the dress, wreath, and strawberries. So the option of having a friendly fight is out of the question too. Looks like it will be an uninstallation/reinstallation cycle, and starting her all over, if she doesn't unhang the script herself.

Don't give up hope yet. Maybe one of the dev team will have an idea.

Dunno if it will help, but you could try this: Open console Click on Vilja Type disable Type enable

I got to thinking about Windpeak Inn-itis, and I figured it couldn't hurt to beat Vilja back to the inn, and wait for her, to give her the wedding dress, strawberries, and the wedding wreath. Then I left her to do what ever she would have done any ways (I figured it would be better then leaving her on the road to figure out her thoughts). She followed me out of the inn (but her father stayed there0> SO I went to Riften by foot, and she followed me all the way saying every five minutes or so "Wouldn't it be nice to talk for a while.", but I still couldn't engage in conversation with her. I get to Riften, and into the Bee, and Barb with Vilja still behind me jabberin' about wanting to talk to me, and once I got into the Bee, and Barb I could then engage her in conversation, and talk about the ceremony. which then led her and her family (minus her dad, cause he was still in Dawnstar for all I know)to leave the inn. Rest over night, blah, blah, blah, wedding, party at the Bee, and Barb, etc... and Vilja is now the happy wife of my character. It seems that all she needed was to see the inside of Windpeak Inn. At any rate thank you guys for the responses, and suggestions, I greatly appreciate them.

Whew!!! Yeay! I'm convinced it is Karita causing this problem. She has scripts running constantly that can freeze other scripts, keeping them from completing. It happens with Erandur and the Waking Nightmare quest, Vilja, her family, and later on, with Wilburt and the bard quest line.
Unless the Vilja team have some bright ideas I'd suggest avoiding the Windpeak entirely, refusing any quest that sends you there. (Save before getting radiant quests).
Much later in Vilja's story line her dad will pop back up and hopefully that will resolve his present situation.
Be certain you have the most recent Vilja, 4.01. And of course, get in the habit of making lots of save games. If on the PC, use the console. We make interim saves: save <SaveNameT>. We use the T at the end for temporary. Once past possible bugs we delete them.
Since save games are the Bethseda Waterloo there are some tricks that can help: -Turn off all autosaves! These are on the fly dynamic saves and are a very common source of game corruption. -At least once every hour of game play, stop all activity, focus the screen on a close up like the ground at your feet that has no moving scenery like grass waving in the wind, save, then exit the game and restart from that save. -Keep milestone saves after major accomplishments or significant incidents in a quest line. -Make extra saves when the game engine has really been pushed to the limits. Like a dragon fight with local wildlife, multiple followers and an NPC or two involved.
A minute or two attending to proper saves is a hassle, but losing several hours of gameplay or even restarting a major plot like Vilja is much much worse.
PS My other mentioned the ultimate bad news for Skyrim: the autosave when exiting the Windpeak Inn. ALL saved games that go from that autosave should be considered corrupt.

Thanks Sniffles, I'll remember that. I make a habit of saving often on five separate save slots (I know it is suggested to not reuse save slots) and clean my saves regularly. I don't use auto-saves. I never have as long as I've been gaming. And yeah I have a total of one dog, a turret of Dwemer design, a floating skull, and eight companions. Of all of them only two companions are not added by mods. It's fun watching them swarm over a Dragon or three (Deadly Dragons max settings), or a pride of lions (Prides of Skyrim). The game does slow down a bit during those times, and I do end up saving, and exiting the game for a bit after a couple of those kinds of encounters. At any rate Vilja's Father was at the wedding, I guess he decided to come to Riften while I was napping over night. I guess I could have mentioned that when I posted the last post (my bad). Any way thanks for the advice about the Windpeak Inn, I tend to stay away from Dawnstar, unless I HAVE to go there. Any way it's off to Solitude for Bards quests for Vilja now. I just love it when she uses her happy voice so I like to keep her happy.
