Post Posted: 06 Oct 2006 05:38 pm Post subject: The Lokken Children - Comments
I added the Lokken Children Add-on Mod. Overall it has a nice feel but there are some disconcerting items.
They ask questions and you can't say Yes or no or maybe. I'm so used to speaking to children and not ignoring them but that's all I can do with most of their questions.
They asked when we could go to Granny's House. So I took them and right after we left they asked when could we go. We were just there but they didn't say, When can we go again.
Most characters in Lokken don't recognize the presence of the children. Some of them talk about having children about but don't see that they are.
When the children aren't in their room you can ask them to rest and after a bit of neat dialog they leave and go to their room. However when you are in the room they insist you leave before they go to bed but if you peek in the room they are up and about and not sleeping.
I can't help them build a snowman. they don't build one on their own.
They tell me they are hungry. So I ask and they say they are not hungry but what do I have to eat.
So there need to be more dialog options with the kids.
* Regards,
OldManDan
P.S. I don't know if you have any control over the size of the collision box but the children block your way when visually can see there is plenty of room.

Came home to my Ascadian Cottage to find the Nanny & Ingemo missing.
Could they be hiding under it?
How do I bring them back?
EDIT: Nevermind, used this thread and figured out how to bring them back:

Yes, that should work fine with any npc, as long as you have their ID-name.
I was going to give you the exact teleport location for Balmora Guild of Mages so that you can pick them up there at any time if they get lost again:
*
for the MW-family you should type in the console:
"1em_aImhanni"->PositionCell -128.641 -1476.658 -760.666 0 "Balmora, Guild of Mages"
"1em_aIngemo"->PositionCell -128.641 -1476.658 -760.666 0 "Balmora, Guild of Mages"
"1em_aJulienne"->PositionCell -128.641 -1476.658 -760.666 0 "Balmora, Guild of Mages"
"1em_ananny"->PositionCell -128.641 -1476.658 -760.666 0 "Balmora, Guild of Mages"
"1em_aYrhan"->PositionCell -128.641 -1476.658 -760.666 0 "Balmora, Guild of Mages"

Actually, companions vanishing isn't all that uncommon. Usually it happens when another mod modifies a companion's starting cell, but there are other causes, and it can happen anytime.
My advice is always "reload a save from before the problem occurred". If it keeps happening, you probably have a mod conflict. Are you running any other mods that make changes in that cell?
If it's not the starting cell, there may be a way to fix it (not sure)... but I still think reloading is safer. Wink

Yeah, I figured as much. I believe this all occured when I added a new mod, probably the Cat Companions one mentioned on this site, along with several others. I'll check the list and figure out what changed.

I'm almost certain it's not the cats: I've played both together many times with no problems, and they don't use the same starting cell.
Anything that changes The Rat in the Pot at all would be the first suspect.

Post Posted: 30 May 2007 05:53 pm Post subject: Missing Children?
Can I post here? First post!
Well the children aren't actually missing. Not from the game world anyway, which is what I first feared.
It's just that my two boys keep running off! Yrhan and Imhanni from my Morrowind family. At first I thought that it was a Morrowind quirk and when they went missing I became frantic. Looked everywhere before I finally found them. When it first happened, I remember making a joke about boys will be boys.
I've searched on here for other instances of this; but, nothing mentions this particular occurance.
Here's some background info!
I have this Mansion just outside of, and NE of Caldera, (Sakaki Manor) and felt that it would be an ideal location to have a family. Caldera is a perfect spot for kids. Good climate, nearby playground and other children in town. I let the kids play outside during the day and try to get back in time to take them inside at night. Good role-playing father.
Anyway, one time I was on my way back from adventuring, when I didn't see my kids playing near the front like normal. As I got closer and still didn't see them I became frantic. I searched for them fearing that I might come across some little bodies laying around. There are some spawn points near a nearby tomb and I feared for the worst.
Well I didn't find any bodies and I broadened my search and finally found them in Caldera playing with some other kids. I thought at the time that this was some very unusual behavior for game NPC's. I even joked about it; but, it happened twice more. This time, #4, I positioned myself on top of the mountain and watched. The two little girls stay put; but the boys?
They play around for a bit one swinging his arms in a goofy way and the other doing some sort of crazy arm spin, and then one just kinda struts away and the other seems to follow after a bit and they go right into Caldera?
Did Emma program them for this or am I loosing it. Maybe I've been playing this game for a few years too long. Has anyone else had this happen? If not, maybe it's just this particular location!
Also while I'm on the subject of unusual/interesting behavior of children, I was leaving the Silt Strider near Vivec (Lara's Cottage vicinity) when I heard this most beautiful sound. I traced it down to a little blond headed girl child that was singing. I stayed and listened for as long as she sang. The experience was truly awesome. I wish I could take her to my mansion so she could sing all she wanted to.
Anyway, this might not be in the right forum section as there really isn't anything to fix. I just don't know where else to put it and I would like to see if anyone else has had this experience. I know that Emma has done some very unusual things with these kids. I really love to see them playing. Oh Yeah! I saw one little girl, playing on top of a Vivec Canton one time too. Amazing!

However, I can't help with your particular problem, but this "running-away-Problem" sounds not like a result of Emma's programming. Emma has truly done wonderful things with her children mod. The other things you describe, I've encountered, too, happily!

Anyway, welcome again - and looking forward to talk to you in this great place for all kinds of conversations, Cool

Yeah, I usually let Hurd wander around outside when I'm not adventuring with him - he likes killing random monsters. There's lots of other Guard type companions out there too, maybe you should think about getting a bodyguard(/nanny) Wink But I think you'll be fine - monsters prefer to lie in wait for players.

Well, there are some path-grids nearby. I put a few around the house so people don't walk into walls, etc, but I didn't connect it to Caldera's grids. Of course, maybe the boys saw the opportunity for mischief and decided to investigate the town's path-grids...

Unlikely that Emma forsaw this happening, but this is just a perfect example of how Morrowind can surprise you sometimes. The default AI can seem scarily realistic sometimes (and ridiculously stupid at others..)

Hey! Neko? Are you still around? Amazing! Ha! Old House? Not even! I've been playing the Sakaki Manor mod since for ever. I'm not sure when I first downloaded it; but, I got my first Morrowind CD in '02, free with my video card and started downloading mods as soon as I discovered such beasties existed sometime in early '03. Sakaki Manor was among these and I've never played a game with out it since. I hope that you haven't given up making mods.
As many times as I've played this Mod, I am still uncovering/discovering new things out about it.
Yeah! The Dunmer little boy, likes hiding around the other side of the house and plays on the steps and balcony. The blond headed little kid is the one that likes sneaking (strutting) off into Caldera to play. It's rather neat to watch as he suddenly stops his play and gets that "Morrowind, shoulders back type strut" very business-like, when he leaves. The other little boy doesn't follow right away he seems to lag behind a bit before he stops his play and then follows. The girls can be out there playing too; but, for some reason only the boys leave. It's truly amazing to watch. I've even video recorded it just so I could watch it later.
If anyone is interested?.. maybe I could post some screens of it, although the video really shows it best. When I first started observing this I got on top of the mountain thinking that my presence inside the cell would influence/restrict this behavior. But, I can get almost anywhere as long as I'm not in their path. When this happens they stop to talk to me, which seems to disrupt their plan. Maybe they think they're going to get in trouble.
Can't really blame them, what kid wouldn't be more interested in Caldera. There are guards with swords, mercenaries, strange, interesting people, even an occasional fight, along with other kids near their own age there. I mean, if I were that age living near such a town I think that I'd be spending every second over there too.

In principle, I haven't, although my very first mod is still the only big thing 'out there', aside from a dialogue thingy I made recently. I'm sure I will get back to my WIP sooner or later - Morrowind will never be uninstalled from my hard drives =) Just a bit hard to find time these days.

Yeah. I like Caldera - it's not a huge place like Vivec, just cozy enough, but with enough interesting shops and houses to keep you entertained. And it's really not far from Balmora if you need the silt strider.
If you've got screenshots of these adventurous kids, I'd like to see them... although I can already picture the scene in my mind, knowing just how alive Morrowind NPCs can feel sometimes.
