I have both tribunal and bloodmoon btw. and I load up morrowind but neither the hut nor laura is there at all. ------------------------------------- Posted by: USPrivateer Post Posted: 18 Jun 2007 04:01 pm Post subject: When in game, head due north out of the ramp leading off the Foreign Quarter Canton. Laura's house should be slightly up on your left, flowers out front, and Laura should be wandering around out front. Not a hut, but a house.
Sorry if this is basic
Go into the Morrowind/data files/and ascertain that the .esp file is there.
On MW startup, make sure you have check marked the Laura mod to load.
Do you get any errors on loadup? If the .esp was there, but the meshes, textures, and other files were not, you should get load errors.
Other than that, that's all the helpies I have.
-USP _________________ Credo Ergo Sum ------------------------------------- Posted by: Neko Post Posted: 18 Jun 2007 08:46 pm Post subject: I believe Laura's got one extra step, because there's multiple variants included in the .zip, with different heads. Check the readme for details, but you basically have to (runs back home to check) choose one of these 4 directories, and copy the .esp file that you want up one level into the "data files" directory. There's also screenshots in those directories so you can decide which version you want.
data files/new head no 1-esp/Tribun_Laura_3_0.esp data files/new head no 2-esp/Tribun_Laura_3_0.esp data files/new head no 4-esp/Tribun_Laura_3_0.esp data files/old head no 3-esp/Tribun_Laura_3_0.esp
After you move the one you want, it should show up in the "Data Files" menu of the Morrowind Launcher, and you can select it.

Or a head-shaped outline with no colours or details? The first means a missing mesh (.nif file), the second means a missing texture (image file, probably .dds).
I think the easiest way would be to reinstall... but do it like this:
1) Uncompress the archive to a folder on your desktop, and use pathnames. 2) Find the head you want and move the .esp file into the "Data Files" folder. 3) Delete the folders for the heads (only the folders with alternate .esp files, nothing else), and move the text files somewhere for reference. 4) Now grab the "Data Files" folder and drag it into your "Morrowind" directory. Tell it "yes" to overwrite.
That should fix it and will save you having to track down which files are missing and where they've got to. -------------------------------------

Posted by: MrSparkle Post Posted: 10 Aug 2007 01:42 pm Post subject: Is there an easy way to change Laura Craft's dance animation Back to the older one in 2.2? (the one that the Suran dancers use) Or better yet, to combine them both and have it so it doesn't stop until I open the dialogue window? The new animation stops after a while.
I prefer the old dance style. She didn't move around as much so there were no clipping issues; currently her legs and parts of her body disappear into walls and other items. And it went on forever until I talked to her. It was very useful. I would ask her to dance if I wanted to go somewhere and leave her behind, and I'd return to find her still dancing for me. Lots of fun Smile
So I'd either like to use the old animation or combine them both and have them loop infinitely. Or, at the very least, make it so the current 3.0 dancing animation loops forever until I start dialogue. I don't know if it's possible or easy to combine the animations (my guess is it's not easy at all).
I'm a novice with the construction set at best. I cannot find where that dancing animation is.
Any help is greatly appreciated!
EDIT: I still have the 2.2 zip if it's a simple matter of replacing 3.0 files with 2.2 files. ------------------------------------- Posted by: Emma Post Posted: 11 Aug 2007 01:23 pm Post subject: No, I'm sorry. The dance animation is in a combo with the kissing animation and the sleep animation. You can only add one animation file to her, and therefore you can't combine the old dance with the other features in the newer version of laura. You either have to keep her new dancing style or revert back to previous version. _________________ Please visit my Elder Scrolls site ------------------------------------- Posted by: Neko Post Posted: 13 Aug 2007 01:13 am Post subject: Emma wrote: No, I'm sorry. Oh really? You'll have to show me how to do this sometime, Emma, that sounds really useful... previously I'd been wondering, should I include a "sleep" animation, or "kiss" animation, etc, thinking it was a one-or-the-other replacement of Idle9. So I just figured I'd work that out later (MUCH later, because I've been far too occupied with the rest of the world for modding... sigh)
Or perhaps is it something only those clever clever animators can do, with their clever animationy softwares? My knowledge is pretty limited in that area - I know about the existence of .nif and .kf files, and that's about it.
-Neko [cat] ------------------------------------- Posted by: Emma Post Posted: 16 Aug 2007 08:45 am Post subject: The combo Laura uses was made by RX31, originally for synda in the Underground by Qarl. They then generously released it for everyone to use. It changes several of the idles, so you will have to look at what the original idles are for your npcs, else you might find them dancing or kissing when you least expect it. The animation pack can be downloaded from Planet Elder Scrolls, and the original kiss script (the one from the Underground, not the one Laura uses) is included. So you shouldn't have to choose at all, it's all there for you to use. Smile _________________ Please visit my Elder Scrolls site -------------------------------------

After much success with Laura on her shopping trip to Vivec, and our encounter with Ajira, a quick trip to Ald'ruhn for a drink, we headed to Sadrith Mora where I was informed she was "tired of adventuring". Sooo we headed to her place, finished off the "lover's dinner" and now every time we venture out to resume our quest, she wants to stay at home. I don't have the option of any dialog to respond to her, and if we leave her house, her disposition drops around 10 points each time I try to talk to her. What am I missing? Can anyone help? BTW I have recently switched over from "Oblivion", a great game but I encountered an animation glitch after many hours of gameplay (PS3 version). Love Morrowind and I have Witchgirl, Constance, and Laura (I have my work cut out for me). Many thanks! ------------------------------------- Posted by: blockhead2 Post Posted: 02 Nov 2007 05:23 pm Post subject: If I recall correctly, after you've given her all of the the ingredients look for a "making love" or "time to make love" topic. Click that. Then exit the dialog and go to her bed and activate it, as if to sleep.
edit: it may be that there is no dialog topic. Just make sure that you've given the dinner ingredients to Laura (I expect there will be a journal entry to confirm this) and then sleep in her bed.
further edit - and off topic ... but have you tried Emma's White Wolf of Lokken Mountain plugin? If you like Laura and Constance you may like this as well. it's my favorite quest plugin of all time. It's got snow, and Emma's usual NPC/dialog magic ... and Laurenna! The last journal entry did mention that I should have a "little talk" with her. No such dialog topic seen so I am at a loss. Yeah I will give White Wolf a try once I can get Laura out of the house w/o getting cranky. -------------------------------------

Awesome!
Thank you so much for the answer. (And a big thank you to Emma for making the mod "alternate gender preference" friendly! Yay!)
I noticed reading the description of the "Witchgirl" mod that if the PC is female she'll be your "Best Friend", so I was afraid Laura Craft would do the same.
Yay! ------------------------------------- Posted by: Emma Post Posted: 01 Dec 2007 07:08 am Post subject: Hi and welcome, * To be honest, I would have love to be able to set up Witchgirl and Lokken in the same way, so that relations could be gender independant. The reason it doesn't work that way in these mods is that it would have gotten way to complicated scripting- and dialog-wise to cater for so many possible romance options. You see, the storyline, especially in Lokken, switches depending on your romantic relationships with laurenna and Wulfren. Already now, I have had to set up 4 different endings of the story to cater for romance and non romance for male and female chars. With possible same-sex-romance, I would have hade to added another 4 optional endings, and that was simply... too much...
However, one thing you will find is that the Lokken people respond to Laura as well, and that Laura responds to what you do in Lokken. If you have Laura in tow and dare to start out on a romance with Wulfren, be sure that you will face her wrath and that things won't turn out the way you might have planned... You will most definitely not be able to live a life as lady of Lokken with Laura staying in the guest room... _________________ Please visit my Elder Scrolls site ------------------------------------- Posted by: Gwennloth Post Posted: 01 Dec 2007 02:28 pm Post subject: I totally understand. I wrote some mods for Neverwinter Nights so I know how much trouble it can be...
So I guess there's no real way to edit the Witchgirl mod to make her see a female pc as a male...
Oh well...can't have everything. Wink
Great work on the mods though! -------------------------------------

Posted by: cmorgan Post Posted: 26 Nov 2007 02:54 pm Post subject: Laura: Joining Dialogue with GOTY Edition question Hello - just beginning the whole Morrowind experience and have installed the latest Laura Craft on a full version GOTY with all expansions, and a very limited number of mods (no other NPCs, with very careful attention to the posted guides and modification lists. I come from BG/Infinity Engine modding, so know to do the research first, which led me to this mod as one of the best written, stable and supported available for Morrowind companion interaction).
As I am brand new, I would appreciate it if someone could confirm that Laura's first words should be to recognize the player character by name, and offer her house as his house; I am under the impression that I need to work to gain her trust and admiration.
The initial dialogue options at the cottage in Vivec included a "t0gether" option, my PC as a 71 reaction, and a discussion about things I do not recognize, as if she and I had already established a relationship. It sounded as if I had rescued her, and/or we had been separated at some point. (The kissing animation was wonderful, but it suprised me as being available so immediately. I have a level 1 character barely off the prison ship and to find my PC so suddenly with an armful of woman, a complete stranger, well... it was fun, but disconcerting).
Something tells me I have done something wrong, as BG folks recommended this as a well written "gradually flowering" romance. Any guidance would be appreciated! _________________ With Baldurs Gate and Morrowind - who needs a new machine? ------------------------------------- Posted by: blockhead2 Post Posted: 26 Nov 2007 03:14 pm Post subject: Re: Laura: Joining Dialogue with GOTY Edition question cmorgan wrote: with an armful of woman, That line made me laugh! The situation you describe is normal. The back-story to this plugin is that Laura already knows your character from years ago, before your character was shipped off to Vvardenfell in the prison ship (and before she was shipped off to Vvardenfell. In her dialogs (even early on) she reminds your character that they grew up together on the mainland and that they had a relationship back then. _________________ Run spot, run ------------------------------------- Posted by: cmorgan Post Posted: 26 Nov 2007 05:34 pm Post subject: Cool My thanks! Posted by: morovir Post Posted: 29 Jan 2008 09:22 pm Post subject: Laura is stuck in a sleep loop I'm probably toast, but I figured I would post it anyway. I cleaned all of the NOM stuff out of my saved game with Wrye Mash. I thought all was good, until I had Laura rest. Now, she wakes up, goes through the routine, but as soon as she stands normally, she immediately falls to the floor, and repeats the cycle - endlessly.
I have tried using start/stopcombat player. She attacks (rather than merely stopping the weird behavior) immediately. Naturally, she stops if I enter the stopcombat command. I also tried leaving her for more than 72 hours. When I get back, she seems reset, but once she rejoins the party, she always ask whether it is time to get up or not. In this state, she doesn't follow.
I even tried killing her (by setting her health to 0) and resurrecting her - but that got me a fresh Laura - minus all her gear.
Other things I've tried are using the teleport ring (she teleports, but ends up constantly asking if it is time to get up), or Laura's ring. That one is weird. Laura is there, but uninitialized - and Morgan Beck is there as well. What is fun is that he attacks immediately.
Lastly, I tried unloading Laura, loading a saved game, resaving, and then reloading the mod. This almost works, but all of her variables are now missing.
Is there any hope? ------------------------------------- Posted by: Apophis2412 Post Posted: 31 Jan 2008 09:26 am Post subject: If i recall correctly there was something in the readme about upgrading her. You could alwasy try that and see what happens. You could also post this question on the official forums, since they have a bit more experience with modding.
Quote: FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO ARE USING VER 1.0-2.0 OF LAURA CRAFT ROMANCE AND ADVENTURE MOD: If you want Laura to keep her previous skills, there are two things you should do before upgrading: 1) make sure that your PCCharacter is in the same cell as Laura when upgrading!! 2) Before upgrading, buy her a study book in any skill (this will update her skill-update script). In order to make ver 2.1 work properly, you will have to CLEAN YOUR SAVED GAME. The procedure is very simple and should take you less than five minutes. Do like this (instruction made by Fernelf): a) MAKE A SAFETY COPY OF YOUR SAVED GAME!!! b) Place the copy of your savedgame in the Morrowind data files folder. Rename your saved game from an ess-file to an esp-file (right-click on the save and hit rename.Exchange the letters ".ess" with ".esp", hit enter). c) open up TES Construction set, highlight your renamed esp-file and mark it with "X". Hit the "details"-button (don't load the esp, just hit details). d) In the details-list, look for and highlight a line called NPC +the ID-name of your npc, for instance "NPC-11AA_Laura". DELETE this line. Use the "delete"-tab. You will get a question if you really want to delete the line, say OK to this. If you look in the details list, you will now see a "|" in front of the NPC-11AA_Laura-line. This means that you have successfully deleted the line. Please note: there is also a line called "NPCC-11AA_Laura". DON'T touch this line. e) Close the TES Construction set (do not save or load the esp-file, just close TES construction set) f) Go back to your data files folder and find the saved game esp. Right click and hit rename. Exchange the letters ".esp" with ".ess". g) place your updated ess-file among your saved games. Now, you are ready to play. Please note: this is rare, but some people may have to do one extra step, as they have problems to revert their new esp back to an ess. This is how to fix it: go to start * hit my computer hit tools hit view and uncheck the last line "hide file extensions" hit apply now go back and now right click on the esp and hit rename and place the s where your p was. PLEASE NOTE: - When you return to your saved game, you will most likely get a couple of error messages. These shouldn't be harmful, as they are basically only telling you that some of the scripts look different and that Laura isn't placed in the same cell as she is in the construction set. - When you return to your saved game, Laura will probably NOT have the sharing option. In order to regain it, do like this: a) Choose topic "t0gether", ask her to wait for you where you are. Close the dialog window. b) Re-open dialog window. Choose topice "t0gether" and ask her to follow you. Voila! The companion sharing will return. (Should you at any occasion "lose" the sharing option, just do the same thing as I have just described). - At one time when I upgraded and altered Laura's looks, she had disappeared when I reloaded my saved game. As I had her telepathy ring available, this didn't cause any problem - I just told her to meet me in Balmora, and when I went there, she met up, with her new looks and with everything safe in her inventory. So, never forget that you can use both the telepathy ring and the little Vivec teleport ring to get Laura back, should you somehow lose track of her. _________________ In the great wind of progress, tradition cannot stand. I went back to my old rig, and pulled the last saved game. I then added NOM and LBS to my current mod set and used wrye mash to clean up the dependencies. I did get a couple of errors about her global scripts, but she appears to be acting normally. (She goes through sleep/wake cycles without getting stuck)
Of course, the new mod set is now a superset of the one on my old rig, so this isn't terribly surprising. All I lost was one quest on the main story, a couple of Constance quests, and one quest on Laura's story. Since I just went through them, it shouldn't take too long to repeat. (I now know exactly what to get the contact in Ald'ruhn)

"Actor animation problem with 11aa_Laura00000000
This actor has no animation class!"
Does anyone have any suggestions? I am a little new to Morrowind but I don't think it's my installation that is at fault. However if someone could tell me where I went wrong I would really appreciate it. ------------------------------------- Posted by: blockhead2 Post Posted: 28 Jul 2008 07:53 pm Post subject: Sounds like some or all of the files (nifs, textures) are in the wrong place. Can you tell us how you installed the plugin? _________________ Meanwhile, at the dance party ------------------------------------- * Posted by: ]V[ormegil Post Posted: 29 Jul 2008 07:17 am Post subject: Are you using any animation mod? Maybe that has something to do.

Also, laura mentions him being frail, But yet when I'm fighting and accidently hit him, it hardly hurts them.
