Always install by hand, btw...drag and drop. As well, be aware that fancy things like BAIN and WRYEBash are not essential. BOSS can be handy in that it can adjust bad load orders...but I never use it as I'm very aware as to what is doing what mod-wise.

Blockhead (the mod) is problematic in that you're not making things simpler. Mine was simple...lol Ack. Huh? How am I supposed to know what the load order should be? Oblivion Mod Manager (link provided)...it adjusts load orders...spots conflicts...etc. Again, I'm not referring to OMOD installations.

As mentioned, bodies are a different matter altogether. You might wish to look into Set Body (there are a few versions...basic is good)...this will provide many different types of female and male bodies. Set Body combines all the various body mods into one...HGEC, etc.
Skeletons are important...the PC's skeleton, that is. Get the latest maximum compatibility one...if you search...a few should pop-up. Depending on how elaborate you want your NPCs/PC to be...BBB...anatomically correct, etc...that takes a bit of effort adding new meshes for movements and idles. Plus...finding these things can be hard now...once easy. If there's a file you might need and I might have, you're welcome to it via MediaFire, etc. Knock on wood...this rig is getting older.

As much as I appreciate the advice, skeletons are the least of my worries. Both the PC and Vilja look like the product of an unhappy relationship between a 1956 Buick and a cheap overstuffed sofa.

You're saying a monitor issue? You can adjust Oblivion's brightness in settings. The two ENB settings...Bloom and the other....can make thing look pretty psychedelic. I use Natural Environments which gives a certain look to things... www.nexusmods.com/oblivion/mods/2536/?

But I first want the PC to not look like she has a moose in her ancestry. I'm really close to tearing it all apart and reinstalling again. HGEC was a bad bad choice. What is a good load order fixer that makes it's own decisions?

Thanks! That bloom lighting and the other was giving my monitor fits. Skin tones now look okay but all this crap has to go. When swimming Vilja turns bright purple.

I found Oblivion way too bright for my monitor, as well. The lighting bar on mine is barely at 1/4. Self shadows are also a bit wonky on anything but God-like computers...turn them off.
If you see purple anything, it's a missing texture.
To boot, Vilja doesn't handle her swim-suit like she does her PJs...wish she did.

Her swim suit obviously came from the US Government surplus store.
Having loads of trouble getting the monitor settings correct. Nvidia isn't helping. Who is the dolt that made game settings for Fallout3 and FNV but not for Skyrim or Oblivion? Techy tells me my old monitor, fluorescent, and the new one, LED, have entirely different color spectrums with the old one way up in the blue and the LED a very narrow spectrum that can't display evenly. A perfect match for these mods! BLEAH!

POLL! 1. On the bright side, it can't get much worse. 2. At least the game runs. 3. We can frighten Daedra! 4. I'll be over there, vomiting.

...you MUST be able to adjust your load order for things to work properly.... Oh, for that I have tried LOOT and BOSS. Oddly they select different orders, but either result seems to work as well. (And there's no consensus in forums as to which is preferable.)

... Having loads of trouble getting the monitor settings correct. ... Check your color profile. Windows may be using the wrong profile (such as a printer profile) for the monitor. The image you posted looks like a texture mapping issue, which indicates problems either with the 3D mesh or your textures aren't matched to the mesh you are using. (I've read of issues with the HGEC models.)

.... What am I doing wrong? Install mods one at a time and test in the game that things are working/appearing normally before installing the next mod. When something goes wrong you immediately suspect the last mod you enabled (either a problem with it or an incompatibility between it and another mod).

NEW PROBLEM! I got the custom race to work, went through the dang dungeon and sewers again, get out into Tamriel, wander over to the bloated float, everything working fine. But upon entering the BF, CTD!!! Vilja is now the problem.
Okay, I removed Jet's hair mod and her face is back and looks fine. But she's still purple when swimming. Everything else works great and the PC looks reallly good. So, HGEC issues from hell?

Purple = skin textures missing. I posted a link to a set...but you should have default. Are other NPCs affected or just Vilja? My guess is the PC 'overhaul' mod you added...try the one I posted if you want good looking female PCs (doesn't affect NPCs)...easy breezy. Re: Boss and Loot: they can only sort what they know. Plus, they can sort incorrectly if unknown mods are in your mix. That's why it's better to do things yourself if you're the least bit experimental. The thing to remember is Oblivion loads from the top of the load order down...with lower mods trumping higher mods on the list. That means if two mods change the same thing, the lower one wins.
