What happens is Shani the one I romanced with since my char is male randomely ends the relationship or romance with him as soon as I load my game. I have no clue what is causing this as the save file was fine earlier, I saved, got off the comp made myself something to eat, get back on... load and BAM that happens... Im lost O.O *Edit* Btw I can't even talk to Shani now, I load the game, see the message come up that says Your romance is over or w/e and then I go to talk to Shani who is next to me aswell as Julan and Shani won't talk to me or respond or anything really, I just click on her and nothing O.o Julan talks to me just fine... and I don't use the bi_sexual mod or the other one the prostitute one but I do use the Romance_follow mod thought I would add this info in there maybe someone else has had this problem? and after looking in the tech probs in the tech support I found these errors: Unable to locate reference for global script '11AA_mskills2'. Unable to locate reference for global script 'KS_Julan_Interv'. Unable to locate reference for global script 'KS_Shani_Interv'. Unable to locate reference for global script '_TLR_PNJ_Romance'. Im not sure if those are whats causing it.. and how do I fix it..? ------------------------------------- Posted by: korzan12 Post Posted: 09 Oct 2008 07:23 pm Post subject: Well now I feel stupid kinda... After messing around with mods etc. I found that after removing Children of Morrowind and Metal queen bot, it started working correctly? I had just downloaded MQB and COM too, so they weren't even in the game before, but I guess putting them in the game caused problems or mod conflicts it seems... Safest way is to put him in wander mode and add new mods to the end of the load list (not posssible with MQB and COM though, as they're esms.) Also, don't try and romance JUlan or Shani with the romance mod. They have their own romance lines. Using the romance mod will probably result in strange behaviour, sudden breaking off the romance, and possible attacks! ------------------------------------- * Posted by: Neko Post Posted: 10 Oct 2008 03:14 am Post subject: john.moonsugar wrote: These kinds of conflicts will likely be fixed by the new Morrowind code patch by Hrnchmd, allowing them to work together correctly. This means that some mod conflicts will no longer be a problem (and the description of the conflict above kind of sounded like the localref bug to me which is why I suggested the patch). The patch should also make it a lot safer to add and remove mods from a savegame, avoiding a known cause of CTDs. You can still have conflicts when 2 mods change the same object, but those sorts of things can often be fixed by reordering your load list. He's still working on the patch, so I recommend following the thread at bethsoft, but it's an exiting release. ------------------------------------- Posted by: Kateri Post Posted: 10 Oct 2008 03:16 pm Post subject: Yes, the new patch is really exciting! Very Happy I'm not familiar with that problem myself, but if it's due to Morrowind mixing up localrefs, then there's a pretty good chance it's fixed now. Is it easy to do a test? I'm sure people on the patch release thread would be happy to hear if it fixes it.

Posted by: Avariel600 Post Posted: 18 Dec 2008 04:30 pm Post subject: Julan not putting out; even after he says he will! typical I'm sure this is a bug, because I played this lovely mod about a year ago or so and once Julan got to the "may I ask you a personal question?" bit I remember it was when we started "sleeping" together.
However, he brought this up RIGHT as we were about to go into the cave to get his father's bones. Inappropriate moment, right? Anyway, I said we'd go find a room somewhere after much fun smooching and groping (in which Julan lost half his wardrobe, HA!) and then proceeded into the cave.
Somehow in the cave sequence he got tiffed at me for "leaving him behind when I said I wanted to go to bed with him" or something, and then after that the "amazingly beautiful" conversation option was back in my chat with him; but he just replies "Oh- nevermind." Apparently I miffed him enough to put him off nookie for good.
So I reloaded a save somewhere in the midst of the cavern, well before he and I got in deep enough to get seperated; I took him somewhere nice (i.e. Balmora) got us a room, and...?
Nothing?
I remember there being a "go to bed" option when I played this last, but that was a long time ago. There was nothing in his chat box, and just resting didn't trigger anything, either. I'm worried I broke this RP option Kateri's given us for good in this play through, and I really don't want to start over again, Im on my fourth trial already. (Though I will, damnit, if I have to...the things a Breton does these days for a good lay.)
Anyway, feedback, console fixes, anything that could possibly explain and/or fix this problem would be appreciated. Thanks! ------------------------------------- Posted by: Kateri Post Posted: 19 Dec 2008 12:13 am Post subject: LOL... Before you reloaded, I think he ought to still have that conversation option, but I'll double check... it's possible if you annoy him just before the first time you sleep together it might get, um, turned off for good, but are you sure his disposition just hadn't dropped too far? * Anyway... dunno why it shouldn't work on reload, but try opening the console, clicking on him and typing:
set mlove to 1 [then press return]

What a weird bug. I suppose he's held out on sleeping with you for so long that when he finally "offers" himself you better not even hesitate! LOL.

I've rescued Shani from the cave and I'm presuming she will get better AFTER the Cave of the Incarnate, however to -get there- I need to finish off Julan's mom's quest.. and herein lies the problem. I managed to stir up the widow, get the info out of the scout and am now at a quest stage where it says I just don't have enough evidence to confront julian&mom.. I'm assuming maybe there IS a cave with those daedra where the body of the Ashkan can be found, but I have no idea where it might be. What am I missing? ------------------------------------- Posted by: EasilyAmused Post Posted: 08 Feb 2009 07:33 pm Post subject: Odd coincidence, but I played through that part today and now I'm stuck about twenty minutes further on than you are Smile . You aren't told the details of the cave until after you've gone through the Cave of the Incarnate etc. I don't want to give too much away, but have you tried asking about Julan's mother in the _other_ Ashlander camps? That may be enough for you to get the missing information that will allow you to move forward. As for me, I think I have the right cave, but darn it, where are those bones hiding? I've been through it over and over! ------------------------------------- Posted by: EbonKnight Post Posted: 08 Feb 2009 07:37 pm Post subject: Will try it now, but the problem is I don't think you CAN enter the cave without solving mommy's mystery. Off to the other camps now, gonna report the results, but seems a bit unlikely as there are no indications that one SHOULD go to the other camps at all. Anything else you remember doing to get the cave location? I talked to the wise woman of Urshilaku, then the widow, than some random who pointed me to the scout and then the scout himself. Anything else? *edit* Yep, no joy talking to other camps, they don't even get the conversation options at this stage. Hmmmmm... ------------------------------------- Posted by: EasilyAmused Post Posted: 08 Feb 2009 07:44 pm Post subject: Hhm, so you've spoken to Rakeem, Nibani Maesa, and Ahmabi? Because besides Mashti herself, I think those were the only people I spoke with. How much does Mashti like you? I had to butter her up a little to get her to expand on some of Nibani Maesa's comments. And I think in some cases she wouldn't say anything if Julan was there - I'm not 100% sure for that, though. What message do you get when you try to into the Cave of the Incarnate? Mind you I did rest, because when I got to the cave of the incarnate it wasn't the right time of day, so I rested until it was. EDIT: I see you were writing at the same time I was. I am in the middle of the Julan Ashlander Companion mod, right when I return from the cave where Julan's dad/bones are. So I have everything and I talked to the wise women then went to Ahambi's yurt and talked with her. Everything went well and then whent the hungers appeared I accidentaly swung and hit Julan & he died. (It's a small yurt!) So I was like, no problem I just saved. But when I reloaded and went to talk with Ahambi (or whatever her name is), when I clicked ont the topic 'want from me?!' She said, "Sorry, that's priviliged information." OK..... This has kind of happened before but nothing really was all that important. Like when I talk with Nels Lendo or some other people about Julan, they say 'Sorry, that's priviliged information.' That was before this. I can't think of what to do!!! Please help! Sad ------------------------------------- Posted by: Kateri Post Posted: 14 Feb 2009 12:40 am Post subject: Hi,
If anyone can help out, I'd be really grateful, 'cause I have no idea. Stuff shouldn't carry over from the dead save when you reload a new one, should it??
I'll get the journal entries you ought to have, and we can check what the settings are in your game... wait a bit... ------------------------------------- Posted by: Kateri Post Posted: 14 Feb 2009 01:17 am Post subject: OK... can you check something for me please... go to Ald-ruhn and ask the bartender where Julan is. See if the person who appears downstairs is your Julan, or a duplicate with his starting equipment.
I think what is happening is that the game isn't registering Julan's follow global, so NPCs think he's not with you. This may be because the script is checking for a duplicate, who is, in fact, not with you.
To see what the follow global is, you can also open the console and type:
sv
and look for a global called "j_close"
You can try and set it by typing: set j_close to 1
but there's a script that might reset it immediately. However, if you were in dialogue with an NPC at the time, it might work to set it like this, as the script resetting it may not be running.
Anyway... lemme know what happens. ------------------------------------- Posted by: Gez Post Posted: 23 Feb 2009 01:15 am Post subject: Kateri wrote: Hi,

It can happen, especially with quicksave and quickload, as the game doesn't reset everything when loading a saved game. When faced with this kind of thing, then you've got to quit the game, restart it, and load the game from the main menu. This way, you're guaranteed that the memory isn't occupied by unwanted remnants from the previous game. ------------------------------------- Posted by: anais Post Posted: 12 Mar 2009 08:48 am Post subject:
Hmm. Close and restart game after quicksave or autosave. I've been having a lot of problems with Jasmine probably in a similar vein. This sounds like a helpful suggestion. BTW I've never had problems with Julan but I keep an eye on him until we get his telepathy ring. ------------------------------------- Posted by: jgf Post Posted: 02 Apr 2009 11:36 am Post subject: Haven't tried Julan yet, but had odd savegame problems with Constance, Hilda, or Laura which, apparently, were tied to frequent use of quicksave and quickload. In each case i eventually had to abandon the game and restart as I had played too long with this problem "in the background". It is a bit of a pain to use "ESC>save>new save game" and type in a name each time, but nowhere near the pain of getting six months into the game (game time) and having to start over because your companion keeps disappearing ...or you suddenly have two near identical companions ...or you lose your companion, only to find them where you first met - exactly as you first met them, with none of the (usually expensive) items you've given them, and with no knowledge of your adventures to date - then the two of you walk outside ...and find a clone of your companion - as they were two months earlier!
My eternal gratitude to whoever told me to stop using the quicksave and quickload functions. I've not experienced any of these anomalies since.

Posted by: woodtortiose Post Posted: 15 Mar 2009 01:41 pm Post subject: I can't get Julan to sober up! Hello, I very recently picked up Julan (ingame, the mods been loaded for a while), so I haven't progressed very far in his questline. I read that he went well with the main quest, so I waited til I was ready to start that before finding him. I picked him up, started the MQ, and I'm at the Black Shalk to talk to Huleeya. Julan wants a drink, has several, gets loaded...and stays that way! I got a bed at the pub, slept 12 hrs, he's still drunk. Talked to all three people in Vivec for Cauis, slept/waited for several days, went to several different towns, and Julan's still wasted!
I saw a thread with a similar topic, but not a way to fix it. I haven't added any mods recently. Does anyone know a solution? ------------------------------------- Posted by: blockhead2 Post Posted: 15 Mar 2009 01:50 pm Post subject: Re: I can't get Julan to sober up! woodtortiose wrote: I got a bed at the pub, slept 12 hrs, he's still drunk.
Doesn't Julan have a dialog for sleep? I don't recall, but you may need to tell him to sleep first. Then you have your character sleep. Then I think he sobers up. I could have this wrong, since it is from memory. _________________ Meanwhile, at the dance party ------------------------------------- Posted by: woodtortiose Post Posted: 15 Mar 2009 02:22 pm Post subject: I didn't notice a dialog for sleep, though I'll check again shortly. ------------------------------------- Posted by: Kateri Post Posted: 15 Mar 2009 03:51 pm Post subject: Open console, click him, type: set alcohol to -1
You don't need to talk to him, if he's in follow mode the sleep/statcheck/sober up script ought to run every time you rest. If it doesn't, you've got issues. Normally I'd suggest you might have a doubling, but if you only just picked him up, that seems unlikely. Unless you've been altering your modlist very recently. Do you have any mods that might affect beds/resting? ------------------------------------- Posted by: blockhead2 Post Posted: 15 Mar 2009 04:01 pm Post subject: Kateri wrote: You don't need to talk to him, if he's in follow mode the sleep/statcheck/sober up script ought to run every time you rest. Sorry I had that wrong. _________________ Meanwhile, at the dance party ------------------------------------- Posted by: woodtortiose Post Posted: 15 Mar 2009 05:19 pm Post subject: Yeah, I think I have issues. I loaded a savegame from before he got drunk and played from there. At some point we went back to my house, where he seemed to kick into a wander AI mode, as in he wouldn't follow me, just kept walkin around. So I just left him, transported away, and when I entered I think, the second cell since I left home, he was with me again. I didn't even notice that he had all his original gear until I went home again, and found I had two Julans. I'm not sure whats causing the doubling, since I haven't added any mods lately (or changed load orders), but I am running 100+ mods, so I'm sure its a conflict somewhere. Thanks for the console command Kateri, I'll give that a whirl. And by the way, little bugs aside (again I'm sure they are conflicts somewhere) I'm lovin your mod. He's a innocent smartass, and I'm having a blast playing with him.
Edit - no, no mods that affect sleep/resting (that I know of, running this many mods, I've found lots of quirks that I have no idea which one caused) ------------------------------------- Posted by: woodtortiose Post Posted: 15 Mar 2009 09:01 pm Post subject: OK, that console command worked, but I've got another question.
*possible spoiler*
*
I reached the part where I try to speak with Hassour? in Aldruhn, and he tells me to finish Julans 1st quest. I found the hints link on another post here, trained Julan up, and in Vivec He said he was ready for another crack at red mountain, and would I go with him. Of course, m'boy, I says. Now we are there, and I'm stuck with him saying "paraphrase' "ok, now we're here, lets go to the ghostfence gate, I know the way from there". I can't get past this, I try talking to him on both sides of the gate, in the middle of the gate, inside the towers, etc etc. Where is the spot where he takes over? Is there a 'sigh' console command to progress the quest at this stage? ------------------------------------- Posted by: Kateri Post Posted: 16 Mar 2009 02:19 am Post subject: You have doubling. This what caused the permadrunk issue, it's causing your Ghostgate issue and it will continue to mes up your scripts till you fix it. This is major issue, and is generally caused by changing your modlist while playing (though there are rare cases where it seems to happen as a result of a cell conflict with another mod, when you take a particular companion into a particular modded interior. If you think it was this, I'd love to know which cell you think caused it).
If possible, and you can identify where the doubling occurred, put your modlist back to how it was, and revert to a save before it happened. If you still want to change your modlist, do it so that Julan's mod retains it's place in the order, i.e. if it was 20th mod to load, keep it 20th. , e.g. by adding new mods to further down the list.
If that's not an option, and if you haven't been playing with Julan for very long, I strongly suggest you remove all your important items from Julan, and run Wrye Mash's repair all function. This will delete him, but retain the copy that is working. If you're not sure where he is, summon him via the bartender in Ald'ruhn, or the woman in Ghostgate (I forget who... ask around after him there).
If you don't run Wrye Mash (fool! Razz ) just park the original somewhere and use the doubled copy as above. You'll have to retrain his skills, but in the circumstances, I think adding yourself a bit of cash for the purpose is justified ( player->additem gold_001 10000 ) ------------------------------------- Posted by: Kateri Post Posted: 16 Mar 2009 02:21 am Post subject: Oh, and I'm told the Morrowind Code Patch prevents issues of this type, though I dunno if it fixes existing ones. ------------------------------------- Posted by: woodtortiose Post Posted: 16 Mar 2009 06:16 am Post subject: Hmmmm..... I have the morrowind code patch, and wrye mash. In fact, I recently ran repair all on a save game (I do this periodically). That was right before I found two of them. I think I disabled the wrong one. I'll try that again, and keep the right one this time. If I still have problems, I'll probably turn off this esp, clean the save, and try it again, which leads me to the question, can I start playing Julan when I'm already at the point in the MQ where I need to go to Aldruhn and speak with the ashlander Hassour?
Since I haven't added any mods or changed my load order, it may be a cell conflict like you mentioned, but I'm not sure which one. When he wouldn't follow me I left him at home (in Telperion, the treehouse, I can't remember the name of the modder, Cait or Cali maybe), he reappeared when I entered VIvec plaza.
Oh and the girl in Ghostgate is something Retheran, the redoran trader. ------------------------------------- Posted by: Kateri Post Posted: 16 Mar 2009 08:40 am Post subject: How strange that you seem to be doing everything right, and still get these issues! If you're running the latest v. 1.3 .esp for Julan, there should be a very low risk of cell conflicts in any case, as I renumbered the references before release.
If you do decide to try cleaning out the mod and starting again, I know it used to be that you had to be before the end of Vivec Informants, but I know I tweaked that part in 1.3, so you MIGHT be all right if you've got the quest to talk to Hassour, but haven't actually done it yet. I'd have to check the .esp when I get in from work... but, on reflection, journal entries are preserved even if you remove the mod, so you would be fine, when you readded the mod, Julan should just follow you straight away.
I hope so, anyway - messing about with this stuff is voodoo. The MW engine is such a nightmare, and clearly the code patch doesn't fix this stuff as well as I'd heard! Pity...

I'm trying to get ready to go into the Cavern of the Incarnate... but Shani keeps insisting she still has to rest and will talk to me later. I have talked to the Wise Woman in Mashti's birth clan and have also heard Rakeem's story, my last journal entry is about talking to him and that I have "...still no proof..." From an earlier topic here on these forums it seems to me that I'm probably at a stage where Mashti should have barricaded her door, but that's not happening. She still talks to me about the same old stuff, where she's from, being exiled, not really marrying. The topic "background" that I've also read about in a discussion about a mods conflict doesn't even appear in Mashti's topic menu in my game. But maybe I'm missing doing something in-game?
The only other companion mod I'm running is Hurd, who doesn't really seem to be affecting topics. No Ashlander-related mods except Julan either.
Will appreciate any help! ------------------------------------- Posted by: Kateri Post Posted: 03 Apr 2009 06:40 am Post subject: I think you've done everything you need to. Posted by: Galiae Post Posted: 03 Apr 2009 07:37 am Post subject: Julan Script Error Before I state the actual problem, I just want to say: Kateri, this module was the first companion mod I'd ever tried (and one of the first mods in general, for that matter), and I honestly don't think I'll ever need another companion. Julan has such character, and the module itself is very well developed. I'm in love.
But the actual problem!
I had recently downloaded abot's "Where Are All the Birds Going?" module, and when I attempt to load it I receive the following script errors:
Unable to locate reference for global script "KS_Julan_CloseCheck" Unable to locate reference for global script "KS_Julan_Interv"
The last thing that I want to do is cause problems with the Julan module, so are these script errors going to cause major problems? Is there a way to fix the issue so that there are no script errors at all?
I remember seeing something about module load-order, but I'm afraid I don't know how to work with that.
Help is appreciated!

Adding/removing mods can cause this. How to prevent it:
- put companions in wait mode before adding/removing mods - if possible, add new mods to load lower in the list than Julan, by changing the filedate if necessary. ------------------------------------- Posted by: Galiae Post Posted: 03 Apr 2009 09:55 am Post subject: Ah-ha! So that's how you do it! ^_^;
Thank you very much for the quick response, and I'll give this a try! ------------------------------------- Posted by: Galiae Post Posted: 03 Apr 2009 11:15 am Post subject: Just as a follow-up, changing the file dates worked fine, and the problem no longer persists.
Thanks again! ------------------------------------- Posted by: Galiae Post Posted: 06 Apr 2009 04:43 am Post subject: Script Error Round 2 * I had changed the file date for the mod I had previously been trying to install, and it ended up working out just fine.
However, I attempted to install the first map of "Tamriel Rebuilt", and started to receive the same script error again. I tried changing the file dates, but that didn't seem to work--perhaps because it is a Master File?
I also tried putting Julan into wait-mode, but that didn't seem to work either, and I wonder if I'm doing something wrong.
Perhaps this is Julan's subtle way of telling me not to drag him to all corners of the world on various misadventures. T_T ------------------------------------- Posted by: Kateri Post Posted: 06 Apr 2009 07:36 am Post subject: Hmm... You could try this:
Add Tamriel Rebuilt, but move another mod (one that won't be affected by load order, something like a minor tweak) from above Julan to below him. Therefore, he will still have the same number of mods loading before him, which is the important part. I think.
Keep savegames from before though, just in case! Wrye Mash is the easiest way to change filedates and maamge load order, in my experience. ------------------------------------- Posted by: Galiae Post Posted: 06 Apr 2009 07:41 am Post subject: *determined face* Going to give that a try right now to see if it works! ------------------------------------- Posted by: Galiae Post Posted: 06 Apr 2009 07:52 am Post subject: The number of mods before/after was indeed the important part! Everything is working just fine now, Kateri, thank you again!

Posted by: rocko44 Post Posted: 17 Apr 2009 04:42 pm Post subject: Problem with Julan I've been having a... umm BIG problem with the Julan mod. This mod is the only one that I currently have installed.
When I head to Ghostgate, anytime I get close to the actual structure itself (within loading range), I receive the error message "Actor Animation Problem With 'KS_Julan00000000'. This Actor Has No Animation Class!"
I have no clue what this means and no clue how to remedy it. I've approached Ghostgate from all angles (road from Balmora, Aldruhn side, and even Red Mountain, but still no luck) Should I reload the mod? Any suggestions? Neutral
Thanks! Very Happy _________________ Proud owner of a '96 Geo Metro. "To the Crapmobile!" ------------------------------------- Posted by: DAYKS11 Post Posted: 17 Apr 2009 06:50 pm Post subject: Try downloading the mod again and installing again.

I too have no idea what it means. Confused _________________ Yay for Morrowind!!... and also Oblivion!! ------------------------------------- Posted by: Kateri Post Posted: 18 Apr 2009 02:34 am Post subject: Hiya,
I'd try reinstalling the mod, yes. Sounds like a corrupted/misplaced file somewhere, the .esp or animation maybe.
Anyway, I've not heard of it happening before, so I think try reinstalling, then redownlading the mod if it persists.
(You're not using FPS Optimiser are you?) ------------------------------------- * Posted by: Jac Post Posted: 18 Apr 2009 07:30 pm Post subject: The error probably stems from the view distance being set to far. For whatever reason, Julan's animations aren't loading properly and thusly the game throws up that error. If you're using something like FPS otimizer or MGE that increases the view distance and reinstallation doesn't help, try lowering it until you've met Julan, then increase it again. _________________ My modding website ------------------------------------- Posted by: rocko44 Post Posted: 20 Apr 2009 02:21 pm Post subject: All Better Now! By the way, I am in love with this mod. Julan makes the main quest so much better! This is one of those Morrowind additions where you go, "Why wasn't that in the game to start with?!" Fantastic job. I'm at the part after you get the moon-and-star ring and Julan ran off. I spoke with both Shani and his mother and found the cave that he was hiding through and got to the ghost guarding the door. That's where I become stupid... I've looked over the entire freakin' cave and can't find his ring. An exact location would be lovely. Please! ------------------------------------- Posted by: Kateri Post Posted: 10 May 2009 10:35 pm Post subject: Did you get the hint from using your telepathy ring? *

Posted by: Jazhara7 Post Posted: 14 May 2009 03:08 am Post subject: Julan seems to be sick of me... ...because every time he says something, it's "What is it with these thick-headed outlanders". And that one thing with "I have better things to do, etc.". Also, I don't seem to get any mod specific greetings any longer, just "Do you want something?" or "What is it?", and stuff like that. Also the ever present "I was thinking...ah, nevermind. What do you want?" (or something like that).
My disposition is 100 with him, and we already made up after the Ashlander informant thing again. I am currently putting off the Sixth House Base quest.
Any help?

Is he behaving normally otherwise? And you get no location-based greetings at all? How does he respond to topics, does he give you normal responses, or is he rude then? ------------------------------------- Posted by: Jazhara7 Post Posted: 14 May 2009 06:56 am Post subject: He responded well to all topics.
I do seem to have found out what the problem was. After seeing that these greetings were under "Attack" in the toolset, I checked if everything was alright. Turns out he somehow got set to "Don't attack" (I had been wondering why he didn't take out his bow any longer and only occasionally summoned skeletons), because when I adressed the topic "Combat" he said "I hope you reconsidered about me not fighting! I'm a warrior for Azura's sake!" or something like that. So I set him to "Do what you want", and he had normal replies again.
So, it seems that Julan was merely sulking about not being allowed to play with the other kids. Laughing
Still, I wonder how he got set to not attack. I never set him to that - unless I accidentally hit the wrong line when telling him to lower his weapon, or something.

I did wonder about that, but I couldn't see how that would affect his normal greetings, just his annoyed battle mutterings.
ANyway, glad you figured it out. It would have happened if you called him out of battle via his telepathy ring, as that puts him in non-fight mode, you have to reset it manually. I'll try to think of a way to make that reset itself so you don't have to do that...

Posted by: Zora Post Posted: 18 Jun 2009 01:06 pm Post subject: Julan / Sanit problem *spoiler*
Hi guys.
I have got myself in a pickle trying to get through the Daedric Barrier in Sanit. First of all I charmed a Hunger, only to find he wouldn't follow me. I reloaded and tried again, this time he followed me but the barrier was still in place, clicking on it didn't do anything. Tried this again a couple of times and no joy. I tried coc-ing myself into the chamber (after looking the id up in the construction kit), but without Julan, the spirit wouldn't talk to me.
So I backed up my save, went into the mod, removed the barrier, saved and redated it, cleaned the save with Wrye Mash and reloaded. Yay, I was able to get into Bitter Gall with Julan.
Then on reaching Ahmabi, I find she won't talk to me because she thinks Julan's not there. I looked up the error on this forum, found out about the j_close variable and tried setting it to 1. It reset to 0: I had a duplicate Julan somewhere. I went to Ald'Ruhn and found the dupe, and (I had to leave Julan #1 outside so he wouldn't see me do this...) killed him.
Ahmabi followed through fine, but now Shani won't talk to me because she think's Julan's dead (even though there's a Julan standing next to her, d'oh).
I've hunted high and low, and I can't see anything on resetting the 'dead' variable with the console.
I either need to know how to do that, or to find out why the barrier wasn't dropping when I brought the Hunger down to it, and then I can re-install the mod and get everything back to normal. Rolling Eyes Any ideas? ------------------------------------- Posted by: Zora Post Posted: 18 Jun 2009 03:07 pm Post subject: Hi again.
Well, I didn't manage to work out why the presence of a Hunger wasn't getting me through the barrier, but in the process of learning how to troubleshoot a script, I did work out another way to bypass it. So I'm back on track. Very Happy
Can I just say how much I'm loving playing the game again, with not only Julan but Constance and three mercenaries from LGNPC! We make quite a gang. Many thanks. Smile

Posted by: SheBear Post Posted: 18 Jun 2009 03:26 pm Post subject: I Lost Julan I have a problem with Julan, I've lost him and I have no idea what could have happened to him. I was in Bal Ur on the temple quest and I went closer to the shrine (which is up a winding rock path thing), I turned around and Julan had just disappeared, and I hadn't entered a new cell or anything, just moved into a new room in the tunnel. So I didn't think that much of it at the time (and so saved after this happened, which was stupid) and thought that when I recalled to Vivec he would come with me like he usually does. but unfortunately I lost him. I went back to the inn in Ald'ruhn and asked the bartender about him, but she just said that she thought he was with me. So, how am I supposed to get him back, any suggestions? ------------------------------------- Posted by: Loriel Post Posted: 19 Jun 2009 12:36 am Post subject: I frequently managed to lose an npc while I was beta-testing for Melian, and she provided me with a few tips on recovery (as well as debugging what was happening and why) - see the thread "[BETA] New healer companion - testers needed!" in Morrowind Modding Central at forums.elricm.com/emma/viewtopic.php@t=4738There's also a couple of shorter/older threads in Morrowind Gameplay: Finding a Lost NPC at forums.elricm.com/emma/viewtopic.php@t=1311Lulu, Where are you? at forums.elricm.com/emma/viewtopic.php@t=1851Hope these help. Anyway, things seem back to normal now. ------------------------------------- Posted by: Loriel Post Posted: 19 Jun 2009 09:30 am Post subject: Resurrecting a character involved in a complicated quest, as Julan is, may have nasty side-effects * - e.g. the game might have recorded them as "dead" and effectively closed the quest as "failed". Unfortunately my experience with Julan is relatively limited, so I don't know how serious the problem might be. Kateri should be able to give you better advice when she spots the thread. Loriel ------------------------------------- Posted by: SheBear Post Posted: 19 Jun 2009 02:44 pm Post subject: hmm... well hopefully I'll be able to circumvent that with some journal entries or something maybe. But right now it seems alright, though I haven't tried to do anything with him other than walk around. ------------------------------------- Posted by: Kateri Post Posted: 26 Jun 2009 06:33 am Post subject: If you resurrected him, then his quests will be broken, since his mother and Shani will still think he is dead. YOu can fix this by opening your save in the Enchanted Editor and resetting his DeadCount to 0, however I'm not sure of the exact way you do this, you will have to find out from someone else, or figure it out.
