Just tried a mod: 'Alternate Start Live another life' installed directly into the Data Folder manually. Game doesn't start and there isn't any any way to close it down that I can see. It doesn't even open and CTD, just nothing happens at all. So far I cant see anywhere to deselect the mod either. When I open the Data folder I can't remove the mod because it's' open in skyrim'
This means going to Steam and uninstall local files, then reinstall.
UGH
just tried to delete 'local files' cant do thiat because the game running. Have to shut down PC and reopen .

I've not needed to use it on SSE yet, but Task Manager works fine for closing the original Skyrim when it decides to just freeze.

That happened to me started game just got black screen on both monitors and couldn't get to task manager. Had to emergency shut down with power button. I was starting with Alternative Lives. Oddly it did start on other occasions.

Playing now with Alt Lives. although my game is 'Ultra' and the graphics are very good.
Not sure I like this, it seems 'too fussy' Maybe it has to grow on us.I have put Amazing Tweaks in ` manually and it opened, but it doesn't show in the mod list.. I have 5 mods which I chose installed automatically by Bethseda. But still not taken with it all

Tried to take SSE out for a spin last night. Problem is I did on a new rig I just got. (Old potato only handle Vanilla in low mode so not trying SSE there) New rig i7, 16 meg, SSD and 1070.
New rig and new game: too many variables at once for me. It told me to run SSE in low mode and didn't offer a setting to select my graphic's card. I could get it run in high but not Ultra. Graphics were jerky even in lower resolution modes. Shadows were weird etc. Glanced at Steam from advice and decided to wait till I was more comfortable with the new rig.
Backed off and decided to get legendary working instead, only one variable.
That is fine in Ultra so far.
Started cleaning that and found out that TES5edit is tiny in 4K resolution. Had to set the resolution down to what my potato uses to see what I was doing.
Had headache and went to bed.
Now Nexus is forcing manual downloads only and for some reason NMM is not handling manual install files correctly. Guess I go back to the potato and compare how that version of NMM is handling manual down loads.
Edit: Stupid me, they just reversed the tabs in NMM and confused me. Manual installs works just the same between 0.63.1 and 0.63.3
I feel a new headache coming on.

Just went to open 'Old Skyrim' in the Steam/Steamapps/common folder and it's disappeared from the folder all that remains is Skyrim SE. They were both there before I opened the SE game. Why would that happen?
Game still opens from the Desktop Shortcut.

Skyrim SE and Skyrim 'old' shortcuts are both on my desktop. I can open the old game ok and play, its just not shown in the 'common' folder now? Another annoyance: put a mod in which doesn't work and the SE game doesn't do anything, not open and CTD, nothing and it appears the only way to stop it running( because it is running, even tho'it wont open.) is to restart the PC.
Is there an answer to this?
Also, although running, it doesn't show in Task Manager
How many of us are running Win 10? Is that why?

Aye, i understand that both shortcuts are on the desktop. But if you right click and show "properties" you'll see the destination for the shortcut. Is that still in the stemaops/common folder? Or has it moved somewhere else?
I'm running on a win10 pro. And i haven't begun fiddling with mods for SK64 yet. I'd think I'm gonna make a play through on basic first. It was 3 yrs ago I had an unmodded Skyrim so i figured I'd give it a spin first. Will also see if i can make it without the dlc's first and then put them on. I've never done that before. As my pc isn't highend anymore i don't think i can run on higher graphics than medium, maybe high. Aah well, we'll see. / Slaintë me lads and lasses. 😘

Just tried out a new mod (new to me) Valdaci's Item Sorting www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/5224/?Frankly it was kind of a pain in the butte until I found Auto Patching - VIS www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/10959/?So much better than scouting out patches for each mod you use or making your own patch. It took a few tries to get the results I wanted - Avoid the "Amend ESPs" option until you are confident in what your doing. Or to be safe, like me (laughs up sleeve) don't ever use it. Tip two: put the main Valdaci's Item Sorting mod high in your mod order. I had trouble with it reverting the changes made by Opulent Outfits - Mage Robes of Winterhold 2017-SSE www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/861/? (Tip 2B: If you use Opulent use the replacer not the all in one. The robes are wonderful the other clothes no so much.) Anyway, the upshot is I think the Auto Patcher is wonderful and seems to do a pretty good job.

SSE Survival Mode - Steam update (currently in beta): From the write-up, it seems to me to be mostly a Bethesda copy of Frostfall and iNeed with no-fast travel. It's no auto-health regen and lower carry weight might be good challenges, as would be no leveling except during sleep.
When it goes live, can be downloaded and kept for good during the first week for free, then, ug, ug, ug, premium Creation Club content.

usvfs crash.txt (1.08 KB) I'm currently unable to start SE through MO2. Everything worked fine yesterday but nothing today. Tried several options listed in forums but nothing works so far. SE does start and run from Steam or the desktop link. Wondering about re-installing Steam or checking game files. "cringing" Any idea on the effect that will have on my MO2 files? I re-installed vc-redis.x64 "2015" but wonder if it's the same as the files in the Skyrim SE folder? Was able to pull the dump file but am unable to decipher it. Also see MO2 version 2.0.8 is gone from Nexus errr&**^%$$%^^^^

I have been looking through all the forums I could find googling but nothing relates. I posted to the MO2 support forum to see if anyone has a solution. In the process of looking I found I did a zip folder of a cleaned Skyrim Se after I installed MO2! I'm going to run it and see if it works but wither it does or not if anyone knows what this issue is I'd still be interested in the answer. Oh and found MO2 2.0.8.3 aip on Github
Ok that didn't work. Did Bethsoft update SSE?
