First off, if this is the wrong place to post this question, my apologies.
Now for my actual question: are there any major events that take place after the wedding? I just finished a fairly extensive playthrough. All the major quest chains I plan to participate in are done, I have literally every word of every shout, etc. Completing Vilja's romance quest took about a week beyond all that, and I'm wondering if it's time to retire the character or if it's worth just killing time until more things happen with Vilja.
Tl;dnr do any major events happen after the wedding?

The major event in Vilja is the wedding. However, there are ongoing errmmm, things popping up, some of which can take quite a few hours of game play to manifest. Among other things, some new minor quests, some new armor, and some new potential followers are all in the wash.

Awesome, thanks! Now to obsess over whether I should continue that play through or start a new character and try to match up my Vilja progress with my progress through the rest of the game more naturally.
...
...
Does Halvdan come back for a third try? Please say yes please say yes please say yes...

Not in this version, but during the wedding party at the Inn one of the guests makes a mysterious reference to something... Who knows what may happen in the future?

Got mixed feelings about the return of Halvdan. One of my most favorite play-throughs with Vilja was heading to the temple, Halvdan gave some lip, then a dragon swooped in and giving everyone a few daymares. To my delight, after I put an arrow in Halv's butt the dragon used him as a squeaky toy. Would have liked to have kept that as my main pre marriage save but unfortunately all the named NPCs in central Riften went the way of Halvdan: future dragon poop.
Don't know why the Dragonborn is so down on dragons. They've helped her out quite a few times. And with Deadly Dragons and Populated Forts Mods it's always fun to save before an encounter then wait and hour. POP: instadragon. Duck, run, and watch the carnage from a safe distance.

Does my memory betray me? I thought I killed him just before the wedding.

Does my memory betray me? I thought I killed him just before the wedding. No, your memory will be correct. It IS definately final as far as the current game is concerned. However sometimes 'hooks' are left behind just in case it is ever be decided to return to some things in the future even though that may never happen. It is a magical world, after all.

Yeah, the woman from the bottle says something about a witch taking his body, or possibly raising him. It was hard to hear because Vilja's father was right next to me during the conversation and his voice is way louder than hers.
Hopefully the witch will bring him back as something that will pose a moderate challenge.

I want Halvdan to come back to life and try and kick your ass. Maybe kidnapp vilja and you have to hunt her down like some kind of detective shit. TES-V LaNoire XD

Halvdan was "Supposed" to have been taken to Granskog Island where there is "The Witch"... ( Vilja mentions a Witch on Granskog as part of her chatter ) This quest was discussed, but never implemented... However because of the initial large delay in fixing Granskog, it just sits on the digital shelf... Vilja and her Wolf.. Things are bigger on Granskog..

Halvdan is probably one of the most enjoyable kills in Skyrim. (at least for me) When I go out for my pre-wedding stroll around Riften I always make sure to have a set of Black soul gems and my Soul Dagger with me. Then, after the ceremony, I present Vilja with a protective amulet and ring for a wedding present. He wanted to be so close to Vilja.... well, he gets to spend his afterlife protecting her.

The best Halved-dan was when I saved a game for Squishy to annihilate him. She had a counter ambush all arranged and went forth to engage him in the dialogue. (Un)fortunately we had just installed Deadly Dragons with all stops pulled out. Squishy did the console TCL and sat the Draggingbum atop one of the buildings to observe the mayhem. She pointed out Halved-dan becoming a dragon chew toy with another dragon parked in the middle of the market and a third dragon apparently in a holding pattern waiting for landing clearance. She delivered the coup de gras to all three dragons then we went to inspect the disaster area. It was rather weird, Riften without a single living person in sight, Halved-and-quartered Dan found floating face down in the canal.
