I was kind of in the same boat. Last time I really played (saved game record) was way back in 2007 and not on my current machine. I've managed to keep quite a number of original mods downloaded way back when. I recently dusted off the whole back-up game activating characters not played for years. Everything ran fine. More about a current game downloading on another thread.

So life happened and shortly after my last post in this thread I stopped playing Morrowind. I've just yesterday purchased the GOG version of Morrowind GOTY for cheap in their sale and I'm working on piecing together the mods I used to run. Oblivion is taking most of my attention at the moment, but it would be nice to have Morrowind standing by and set up ready to go should I feel like a change.

I thought I'd try out the Morrowind Graphics and Sounds Overhaul mod which is one I hadn't tried before. A bit of a fluff getting the magic installer to install into a GOG version and the installer kept freezing my mouse when I actually needed it to click option buttons & etc, but after a couple of goes I got there in the end. The mod certainly makes things look better than the vanilla game and does all kinds of stuff as well to make Morrowind work better on a modern computer. I'll most probably add some more mods later, but I think this will do for now.

Better Bodies is usually the first thing I add to Morrowind, followed by a good head/hair replacer (such as those from Emma or Canadian Ice), then Galsiah's Character Development, and Necessities of Morrowind (both personal favorites but not everyone's idea of the game), and Passive Healthy Wildlife. Morrowind Graphics Extender (MGE) has many useful functions but will not work with a No-CD patch. And of course Constance as a companion. Qarl's textures were nice but a bit too much for the old system on which I played Morrowind. Ah, the memories come flooding back....

MGSO has MGE built in and it certainly has made a difference. I'll most probably load in all the 'Betters' next; - Better Bodies, Better Clothes, Better Heads & etc. Passive Healthy Wildlife sounds a good idea since being madly attacked by every creature in the game was in some ways worse in Morrowind than it was in Oblivion. When I played Morrowind for the very first time I was a bit stunned how every creature in the game large and small made an immediate beeline for my character with the rabid urge to kill her.
Ah Canadian Ice, - I was a keen member of her forum; - all gone now sad to say. Yes indeed, the memories come flooding back

Real Signposts was always a mod of choice when I was playing Morrowind before. And so was Grumpy's Packguar too.
I never had much luck with companions in Morrowind, but that one does look interesting.

I've read through the mod description and I have to say it really does look like an impressive piece of work. It's downloaded now and safely on my hard drive and I'll install it later on today.
I'm still getting myself settled in with the game as it's been a long time since I last played, but all is good so far.

Also check the "LGNPC" mods, over a dozen specific to certain towns/areas. These add more NPC dialog - people discuss current events, gossip about each other, some added quests. (http://lgnpc.org/home)
And we would be remiss if we did not mention Qarl's Underground mod.

Wow, - the LGNPC mods are/were certainly an ambitious project. Is it still being worked on, - or did it slowly die away with the passing of time?
I remember Qarl's Underground mod, back then my computer was too wimpy to run it.

Wow, - the LGNPC mods are/were certainly an ambitious project. Is it still being worked on, - or did it slowly die away with the passing of time?... The most recent date on the site is 2010, which is probably about the last time I was there. But I just downloaded some files that I didn't have, so there must have been some activity since then. These are the type of mods that are never finished, you can always think of more to add.
