My game locked up (after about 20 hours play)with breaks. I had to shut down the PC to clear. Now I can't even get to the continue screen, Immediate CTD on trying to start. I have tried cleaning the saves with savetool. Tried going back to a earlier save , no luck at all.
I've done all of M'rissi and we are now kin. I've got Lydia in tow and was just going for Vilja Can't think what I can do now, Being not very computer literate in the techie parts. SO, please anything which may help a lost soul stuck in Skyrim.

Sometimes there will be a clue in the Papyrus log. That's assuming it's script-related, and unless you just added a mod that's the most likely. It's not on by default, and is controlled by bEnableTrace in the [Papyrus] section of Skyrim.ini or SkyrimPrefs.ini (I think they override in that order, if it's set differently in each one). The output goes to Documents\My Games\Skyrim\Logs\Script and the latest is always Papyrus0.log although there may be older ones as ...1.log, ...2.log, etc.
You're likely to see a lot of things that failed, and most of those are OK, because it's just the game allowing for DLC's that aren't loaded, and things like that. And the crash may also have happened before it could written out, but it's one place to look.

Sounds like it is something in your load order or a base game file that is corrupted. Since you are not getting to the continue screen it would not be save related. You are just loading up the game and mods. If you are using a mod manager, start by disabling everything and seeing you can get to the load continue screen to start a new game. If you still can't verify and your binaries and reclean them.
I assume you have totally shut down your computer, and tried running it after restarting.

Look for: [Papyrus] bEnableLogging=0 bEnableTrace=0 Set the =0 to =1 Retry to start the game once. Then open the log file and examine. You can copy and paste it here to confuse people and get confused.

1. Power down, wait a bit for memory to totally clear. Try again. 2. Check that you are loading all master files required by what is in your load order. 3a. Disable all plugins and preloaders. (Check if problem is in mods loading) 3b: If you can start a new game start narrowing down which mods cause the problem. 4: Still have a problem restore your Skyrim game and check.
We know the problem is not with a save because he does not get to the place where you load a save. Thus it must be with the mod load order or skyrim it self.
Fortunately I see Rlys is posting again so assume he sorted it out.

I had the same problem when installing for the first time on this computer. Game wouldn't load. Turned out to be a Dirty main game file. Fixed it and Everything has worked nicely since then.
