Is there a way to have Vilja wear a ring on her left hand? The manual says that some rings are right-handed, others left-handed, but although she will wear the Ring of Namiria (and others, I'm sure) on her right hand, I have yet to find a ring for her left hand. (I have been trying unenchanted rings, hoping to find one that she'll wear that I can then enchant).

There is a way, and you've found it, lol. There will usually be one ring in my inventory I want her to use, so I give her that one and note on which hand it appears, then give her any others, one at a time, til I see one on her other hand; then take all away except those two (if she has a choice, she may not wear the one you want). Also, if the ring(s) pertain to armor or weapons, such as Fortify Blade skill or Fortify Armor, she will not wear them unless she is wearing armor (oddly this doesn't seem to apply to amulets, I found one with a +25 to Blade skill and she wears that all the time).
I haven't yet played with the CS much but i suspect there must be some flag for rings to denote which hand they are for and this should be evident in the CS.

Didn't know that about rings. Vilja won't wear a tail slot item, either...which is a bummer.

"When I asked you to watch my back, that's not what I had in mind!." Pretty much. Mad Companions will wear any tail item you give them while following...handy. My other peeve about the Oblivion Vilja is the oooooooold swimsuits. Swimsuits should be treated like her PJs. Wear whatever is in the bag. But it must be some earlier scripting grandfathered into her programming. So our Vilja switches from some big beautiful Nord babe (from Set Body) into a skinny elf every-time we hit the surf.

My ring problem was well solved. I found the "Ring of War', which increases seven stats by 10 each, and Vilja put it on her left hand. That's that!

It's ridiculous that the player can wear any ring on either hand but the rings are handed for NPCs. Would a simple mod removing the flags from the rings alleviate this? or would some weirdness in the coding then prevent NPCs from wearing rings at all?
