more questions
The CS crashed while I was placing a rock; now whenever I start it to work on that same mod it complains:
Reference attached to wrong cell for its location: REFR form (01000F1) to STAT form 'RockGreatForest520' (0003D051) in cell 'Wilderness' (00005DB4) (29,25) in Worldspace 'Tamriel' (0000003C)
The gist of this seems to be the rock is in one cell but its reference is in another. But is (29,25) where it is or where it should be? And I assume I can find and delete it from its reference number, but use the REFR form or STAT form? And what is the easiest way it find whichever number I should use to eliminate this errant rock?

Your best bet is to use TSEdit and track down the form ID and delete it there. Shouldn't be too difficult to locate. Otherwise, try looking in Wilderness Cell 29,25 using the CS and see if your rock is there...it would be asterisked if so. Make back-ups before making any changes you're uncertain of.

Which number do I seek: REFR form or STAT form? I think REFR...but you know....back-up, back-up, back-up. I could be wrong. I had that with a torch sound...oddly enough. I guess it was because the torch is dynamic....and I sorta slip n' clicked when I dropped it into the world space. Gone.....

Which number do I seek: REFR form or STAT form? Definitely REFR. You want to fix the placed rock, not the definition of the rock. It happens when you try to move a static between cells. Your only option is to delete it from one, and add a new one to the other. What gets really annoying is when you havok settle something and it falls down a slope into another cell.

Thanks; I assumed it would be like the Morrowind CS - delete the wrong one and you remove every instance of that item from the world instead of your one item. ... It happens when you try to move a static between cells. I was dragging a rock from the object window to the render window, about the time I released the mouse the CS went "not responding". What gets really annoying is when you havok settle something and it falls down a slope into another cell. Lol, that's like killing a blasted Will-o-Wisp outdoors. If it's on the slightest slope you'll never catch that little blob of goop it drops; toggle the grass off and you'll still be lucky to find it ...a mile away.

Yes, deleting the form instead of the reference still tries to do that. But I think now you'd get a bunch of errors trying to save, instead of it actually doing so. What probably happened is that you dragged the rock into the render window over one cell, and then tried to drop it in the next one. The CS registered the cell it was over when it crossed the edge of the window, and then threw a wobbly when you let go in another. I always have the cell borders turned on when doing any exterior editing, just to avoid this.

I had the borders on, especially since working in two adjacent cells (am creating a waterfall).
Looking at my esp in TES4Edit there are apparently only two instances of that particular rock, one in each cell, and with different IDs.
