Well. What to say. Is it for you? Is it for me? Is it for people who have never played Fallout......
I again watched all the way through, Main quest and the Overseer side quest and several others...
First off I am not a huge Fallout fan. Sure I played Fallout 3, mostly. I got bored. New Vegas, yes, but not all of it, I got bored. Fallout 4, well I actually liked Fallout 4. Still play it as a diversion. But, you see I am a graphics snob. I care how a game looks AND how it plays. For me a game must be immersive. I need to get lost in the element.
Then there is Fallout 76. It can be very pretty at times, its' HUGE. You can certainly get lost and side tracked. But it seems like the game doesn't really know what it wants to do. The engine is buggy. It crashes, it respawns enemies in ridiculous ways. The enemies spawn every time a new player enters the cell, so it can be a huge grind. You fight your way through something so that you can explare then suddenly all the enemies are back and know exactly where you are even if you are out of line of sight. Some enemies even will act like they are part of the PVP.
Okay what does that mean... The way the game is designed is that if you attack another player unless they attack back, they take little damage. Somehow some of the enemies get pulled into this. This can be a real drag, you can basically shoot them until your weapon breaks and not kill them. It doesn't happen often, but it does happen.
Survival mode, well the whole game is survival mode. You need to eat and drink often or you basically are encumbered. Of course you are basically encumbered the whole time you play. Everything has weight. Bullets, water, stimpacks, chems food... Sure its' realistic. But if the game wanted to be realistic the weapons should be realistic as well. You shoot an enemy with a double barrel shotgun at point blank range, they stumble and keep fighting. Really?
Sure level up, get perks so the weapons do more damage. But starting off its' ridiculous. There are still quests that don't work. Your storage space is always full. If you complete a quest it gives you a bunch of heavy stuff that you end up dropping so that you can still move.
In the end I am not sure who the game really appeals to. There are things to like about it. It is certainly more fun to play with friends, 99% of the people that are playing are friendly and helpful. I have yet to see anyone playing as a Raider. It just wouldn't work. You kill somebody just for fun and the entire server is PAID to hunt you down and slaughter you. Replay value? Not really. You can't join a faction and play through the game, you MUST join ALL the factions to reach the end.
The game just seems like a grind to me. You level up and scavenge and build up your weapons and armor and by the end you can kill anything. Then its' over.. Really over. The side quests are okay I guess, if you like to travel a lot. You like running from one place to another and get a reward? Then it's the game for you. Like exploring. Then it's the game for you. Want your friends to play with you? Then it's the game for you.
Do you like the previous games, with interesting characters to team up with and have consequences for what you do? Sorry, this isn't that game.
The game seems like an experiment. If you can get it cheap enough it's worth a look, I don't hate the game. But it isn't something I would spend money on.
