I was wanting to know if there had been any update to the Children of Morrowind mod that allows you to get married and even have children. I ask because I have created a character for my wife in the Construction set, that she chose, and I would like to be able to have a Morrowind family, for fun! Not a group you find and have live with you, but something built from scratch. So I wanted to know if there were any plans for this, or if it is out, were I can find it.
Also, HELLO! I have wanted to install this mod for a while, and was wondering if it were fully worth the time, and now I will hopefully know! ;D

Welcome ! I think there are two separate mods which each provide half of the solution that you want. The "Romance" mod at planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=4699 appears to cover the pregnancy and childbirth part, but the child doesn't appear to grow beyond a baby. Then the "Your Morrowind Family" extension to the "Children of Morrowind" mod ( both found at lovkullen.net/Emma/kids.htm ) provides some older children for your family - though it falls into the "group you find" category. I don't know of any mod that combines both aspects. I think those who install the "Children of Morrowind" mod usually find it worthwhile - but I am probably a little biased after the time I spent testing it. If you do try it (Children of Morrowind), make sure that you read the installation instructions, as it follows the "activate the BSA file" route, rather than the more common "copy lots of files into various folders" one. I see, I could try to add them both in like that.... though maybe I could look at the scripting and see if I could make a way for the child to grow up.
About the install, sounds just like TR, which I have, so no worries, I have become good with mod install, just not mod making.... lol
The mod sounds worth it if I were to add them together. I mean it looks like a very great mod, and it is obvious a lot of work was put into this mod, so it wasn't just thrown together quickly, which is a good sign.
Now, I am doing a let's play of Morrowind so when I install this mod, it will be on there for all to see.
Thanks for your reply! I will look more into this and see what else I can do as well with some scripting.

I recall a mod providing a companion which "grew" as you progressed in the game. This was done with a series of esps; at certain times you would get an in-game pop-up instructing you to save, exit, and follow the readme. You would disable one esp, enable the next, clean the save with MASH, then restart the game.
I don't know how well this worked as, after reading all the instructions, I never tried the mod. (Just seemed too complicated and intrusive for me.)

That could have been done with one mod and multiple versions of the companion. As your companion "grew", the "younger" version could be replaced with the "older" version. The multiple esps were an unnecessary complication.

I don't think the companion "aged", perhaps "progressed" is more appropriate. (Relying on memory of several years ago for a mod I never played.) I do remember one of the points where you were to change esps was if you selected an option to have a romantic relationship.
But it all seemed too complicated ...and Morrowind is finicky enough as it is.

Still, that could have been handled all in one esp without the need to swap them out.

Certainly not arguing that point, my knowledge of scripting is minuscule at best (the reason most of my mods are now gathering dust).

The only problem with that, that I could see, is on lower end systems it may cause lag. Now mine should be okay with those scripts running in the back ground... but that just means I have to figure said scripts out.... also with them growing as time goes on, one must be able to make the right calculations for time gone by before they get bigger, and if it is at larger intervals (like if they don't have a toddler stage, and what have you due to that not existing, not sure if it does) then you would, for the sake of realism, have to wait even longer to see the advance. If it was me doing the script (and it looks like it might be) then it would take a full Morrowind year for them to age at all.

It would probably be easiest just to track how many months have past. Once that reaches 11, you know it's time to "grow" the child.

Two points to add to the discussion: 1) I think there is a scaling function that you could use in the script to adjust the size of the child - I would suggest you could call it once each time the child is loaded, and adjust its size according to time passed since birth (and also adjust to a different model for baby/child/teenager etc if you want) 2) You need to consider timing - as I recall, in default MW time runs about 30 times faster than normal. That means that you would need to play MW solidly day and night for 6 months to advance a child to mid-teens. This is probably too slow, so consider how much faster you would want the child to grow.

Wow has it been a while? Well, got a new computer, going to add this mod in. I will let you know how it goes. I plan on (now that I have a good computer) doing a let's play for my step son's channel, and if I do, this mod will be in it. Wish me luck at the install! Also, hello once more!

Well... that didn't go so well. Did everything too. *sigh* dropped the files right, used the bsaReg, ran MCP to try to fix the errors, didn't work, and I can't find wryemash anywhere anymore, as all the downloads seem gone, and I get redirected to buy a website.... and since I own one already, not really looking for that, lol! Just a bunch of errors saying it can't find such and such so it will use the error mesh instead.... actually, never had this issue before..... how does one go about fixing this? Thanks in advance!
Edit: Never mind, I am an idiot! LOL I failed to realize that even with bsaReg you have to add the archive.... sorry about that!
For future readers ADD THE ARCHIVE OR YOU WON'T BE ABLE TO PLAY!
Yeah.... so, now it is working, will be back with more info in a bit!

Loriel Quick question about the romance mod. Is there a romance mod out there that doesn't need an adult content warning? I am not so sure I like what the mod entails, as you can just sleep around..... and I know my wife won't like that either (yes, I always seek my wife's approval, we do that because we love each other). If not, I may try (and fail) to make a mod similar.... anyway, thanks for the ideas!

The romance mod covers almost all aspects of adult sexual relations, hence the reason for the adult content warning. It may not go into graphic detail like Lovers and Legends, but the content is still there. For what you want, you might be better off making your own. I had thought about messing around with the mod, but the scripting commands are in French and I don't have the desire to translate them through Google.
