Hello Emma's Forum I'd like to ask a question about wrye mash.
I read the readme of a mod, and there I saw that a good way to avoid bugs from mods is installing wrye mash. I installed the 84 version that includes the phyton (I don't know well what phyton is, but I mean that my wrye mash should be working correctly as it is. A link mencioned in the readme wasn`t working so I looked for another one and found that). I reinstalled the game and deleted all the mods I had, so the wrye mash should be working when I add mods again.
My question is, if it works by itself, the same way as patches do, or if it is a tool to be managed handly by myself.
Lots of thanks!

Are you familiar with Wrye Bash for Skyrim or Oblivion? or Wrye Flash for Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas? If so, Wrye Mash works pretty much the same except for the UI: it's a program that you have to run manually to work with mods and saves. Some of the things it can do are: - Lock times for mods and redate them if they've been updated/changed.
- Repair bad references in saves that tend to cause crashes.
- Redate mods so that they load earlier or later.
- Resync a saved game's load list to whatever mods you have loaded and fix the save so you shouldn't get any loading errors.
- Export your mod list in load order.
- Created a merged leveled list so any mod that adds things to leveled lists won't overwrite another mod.
While it can be confusing to learn how to use at first, it's a great tool to have. By the way, since Wrye Mash isn't written in a programing language like C++, it uses Python to run. Basically it's not a program, but a script and Window's can't process Python script natively, hence the reason for needing to install the Python runtimes and libraries.

I'm unfamiliar with it at all, I never used it, only know that it exists.
Thank you very much for the answer! that's exactly what I needed to know.
I downloaded a tutorial about wrye mash. It's a bit long and in english, I'm spanish so it's a bit harder and slower because that, besides that I still don't understand much about this things, but knowing that the manage is handly and how useful it is, I'll try reading it.

I finally managed the program!! All the mods that I had in my previous savegame are working perfectly without alert popups, Thanks again for the info jac! that encouraged me to go on with it, and it was worth. I thought for several times that it was never going to work properly. But everything solved and working I leave here the link to the tutorial I used, for anyone who finds this post looking for how to manage wryemash, there are lots of info on the internet, but to have a point to start, a easy way is this guide I think. This is the guide: www.mwmythicmods.com/tutorials/Wrye%20Mash%20v84%20Guide.pdfThe most recent versions called "stand alone" don't need extra installation. I hope it can be useful for anyone.

I'm glad you got it working, Nuka. It's a great program for managing Morrowind mods and saves.

Keep in mind that next to python you also need wxPython v2.8. The python which is here described ain't a snake or rollercoaster, but a programming language. In simple words: it's used to make programs. The files of mash goes right into the morrowind map. The easiest way is to unpack the zipfile somewhere and copy the 2 folders to the morrowind map. If everything goes right you should end up with a map called mopy right into the morrowind map. In datafiles you will find then 3 maps called docs, mash and mits. To use mash just go into mopy and run wrye mash for python 2.5. Better make a copy of this and especially if you have morrowind installed in an other directory then the default one (c:\program files or program data) Nowadays there is a sortkind of standalone version made of it which doesn't need those steps anymore. I still use the original 0.84 version. It ain't that hard to install it. And yep, it's a great program to manage mods and savegames. It removes orphans, fixes references, you can redate mods (which is usefull when one mod needs to be loaded before an other), renumber references and so on. It's the swiss knife for your morrowind mods and actually required if you use mods.
