Dumb question. How do you get followers other than Vilja to ride horses? They need to come with their own horse - like Vilja and Anduniel for example - or you need a mod that allows you to buy and assign a horse to them.

Sofia also conjures up her own horse. Just one hint: Get yourself a dark or bright coloured horse if riding with these 2 ladies. Bruse is white, Sofia´s (nameless) horse is off-white and she reacts very aggressive if by accident you mount it instead of your own one. Oioioi!

I try to remember that. Having misplaced Frost, I seem to need to get a new horse. (Haven't installed Sofia yet, but she's on my list of new mods)

Go for Sofia, she is superb. Just one word of advice: Don´t be prudish, 1st time you will meet her she will probably be naked, depending on the body mods you installed. And she pulls off lots of spicy innuendoes. Shame there is no big quest attached to her as with Vilja. But I digress...

Aeonbarr is superb. I used to have my char ride a black horse from Swift Steed Stables, but Aoenbarr is way better: Eye colour colour of fur coat, size, damage resistance, all customizable. You can conjure him up if you lost him and he stays where you left him. I like Haflingers so I gave him this colour which perfect matches the ginger hair of my Breton char.
In order to give a verified answer to Sniffles´question: For a test, I just had my char go to Whiterun and recruit Toccata as a follower, then fast traveled down to the Whiterun stables, where my char, Vilja and Sonja had their horses. Having mounted them, Toccata still was standing around. I then went into the MCM menu for Convenient Horses and activated the option "followers have horses". I then let my char dismount. Next thing, Toccata got herself a trumpet and called a horse which she mounted instantly. Any questions left? Don´t think so.

Mewgull, I love that you can customize his damage resistance. I didn't change any of the defaults except fall damage, which I moved to 100%. Now he won't die when I have him jump down off some rocks like previous horses did.
However, I do have an issue where when I dismount, he sometimes disappears entirely. Or he'll run off some distance for no discernible reason. But having that ability to just summon him works wonderfully on those occasions.
As for the original topic, having other followers ride as well, I fear I don't have a good answer. With Vilja able to summon Bruse when needed, other followers get to work up a sweat running to catch up. Luckily Matthis appears to be faster and more agile on foot than Vilja is on horseback.

Hi Roykirk, looks like we posted at the same time. Did you tick the option "Followers prefer riding"? This is important. BTW: Sofia may still need some time to mount her horse, even in the last version of the PI. Guess her horse is quite ticklish, just as Vilja described about Bruse.

Convenient horses is a very good mod in its function. The down-thing is that it relies on another mod to work. Many mods rely on MCM, but I've been avoiding them.

The ultimate horse mod requires: (According to my horse and that strange equine thing a friend of mine partnered up with)
-It's availability is in inverse proportion to your need to ride and get somewhere. IE, if you aren't planning a trip it is up in your face constantly. If you have to dash from Riften to Markarth i'ts at the far end of the pasture and a bushel of apples presented while on your knees pleading will eventually let you catch it.
It balks and walks sideways for no apparent reason.
If you want it to walk it trots. If you want it to canter it trots. If you want it to trot from a walk it canters. If you want it to trot from a canter it ignores you.
It spooks at rocks, tree branches and things unseen.
It doesn't notice bears crossing the trail in front of it but spooks from bear scent from a half mile away.
When feeling frisky it charges at you in a dead run, trying to miss you by a few microns at the last second.
When saddling it walks away. Forever.
When trying to put a halter or bridle on it's head is eleven feet in the air.
When you want it to jump it may, without notice, not jump at the very last second and alter the laws of fizzicks by suddenly traveling in another direct.
When fully saddled with a lot of gear on it's back it will roll and force you to redo everything.
Horses law: Mares are always in season. Stallions can find mares in season in the dead of night in a blizzard 500 miles away. You are always sitting on the mare in season that the stallion has found.
More as time permits

Mewgull, are you referring to an option in a horse mod with functionality like Convenient Horses? If so, I don't use those. Hence why only Vilja rides. Reading up on those mods, they seemed a bit unstable, and after the issues I've had with follower mods, I decided not to use one.

@ Roykirk: This is interesting, because I have been using Convenient Horses a long time by now and never experienced any trouble. If you do, maybe you could assign horses from Swift Steed Stables to your followers? Haven´t tried this, though... @ wotan: I feel like most mods rely on MCM by now. Any alternatives? @ Sniffles: LOL!!! As an avid rider of recumbent bikes I have had my share of experiences with horses that panicked. But seriously: I don´t like about horses in Skyrim: They bump into each other. E.g. my char is riding with a group of riders, detects a hostile NPC, stops and gets his cross bow ready. He takes a good aim and - bump! - gets thrown off his aim because another horse hit his one and turned horse and rider at least 45 degrees off course. Guess this has got to do with the collision model in Skyrim which apparently only uses the collision model of humanoids.
