If Emma agrees I would suggest that you open the console (the second key from the top on the left side of the keyboard).
Then type
help Vilja
and press Enter
You will then see ID numbers, for example the number of NPC Vilja. Note the first digits of the ID
then type
prid XX0012c4 (XX are the first digits you have written down)
and press Enter
then type
moveto player
press Enter and turn around.
Then cast the Vilja Reset Spell on her.

Yes, I agree, you can do it that way, too, but I would still be VERY interested in knowing where she actually IS, as she shouldn't be vanishing at this point. So, pretty please, before you do anything else, please activate her quest and see where her questmarker shows up. (Have you looked inside the Hlaalu farm btw?)

I've opened a save where we are just starting to look for the ingredients for Heneri. So Vilja does have a marker over here, I remember this had gone after we completed the Donkey Quest and Vilja stay. Now I know this save I shall go look in the Questlog after opening a save without her

I opened at Whiterun AFTER I had the pet dog and the donkeytail quest finished. Looking in the quest journal for Vilja,it shows her to be at Haalu Farm. went there and no sign of her Heneri says 'hello, what do you want?' but I have no dialogue. All three women are there.

The last page of posts seems to have gone. I am only seeing up to 21.51.
I had said in answer to your last post: that Vilja is shown as being at the Haalu farm. She isn't because I went to look. The questI checked it on was the last one 'Brinehammer'
I have got the pet dog now, so it appears that only Vilja has gone awry.

I am very reluctant to use the console to reset because it means a new start, after all the heartache.

Gavain, now that we know where she is, you can just do what Wolf suggests:
If Emma agrees I would suggest that you open the console (the second key from the top on the left side of the keyboard).
Then type
help Vilja
and press Enter
You will then see ID numbers, for example the number of NPC Vilja. Note the first digits of the ID
then type
prid XX0012c4 (XX are the first digits you have written down)
and press Enter
then type
moveto player
press Enter and turn around.
Then cast the Vilja Reset Spell on her.
this won't force you to restart anything, Vilja will be teleported to you and when you cast her resetspell on her, the variable that forces her to not be summoned will be set to 0

I am very reluctant to use the console to reset because it means a new start, after all the heartache. Don't worry, you neither will lose your quest progress nor your love, if you are resetting Vilja. It's only that she gets her summon spell back. The quest is not reset by doing this.

Thank You for all the help. I guess it is time for bed now both here and there, your only an hour ahead. Hopefully I shall be back in Fallingbostel next year.So Vilja will have to be smuggled inside my laptop.
Also A very Happy Christmas to you and all the team.May the New year be a better one.
So it's off to the console for me and isn't she going to get a telling off!!
;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Sorry if this is ressurecting an old thread, but I too had a similar issue (the only problem I have encountered with the Vilja mod) at the same part of the questline; after I returned to the Hlaalu Farm with the Sweetrolls and Alto Wine and where Vilja should have been awaiting after learning her new spells from the adorable and funny old Dunmer witch.
Once I had finished the dialogue with Hennie I looked around for Vilja but she was nowhere to be seen. Bruse was waiting on the road outside the farm and Vilja's marker was above the farm, but no Vilja.
However, I had an idea where she was. Whilst I roamed Windhelm looking for the neccessities I started the 'Blood on the Ice' questline. As I entered the abandoned location where a grim find is to be discovered (I won't say more for spoiler reasons, but I think you know where I mean), there was Vilja! She spawned in the room as I entered. I talked to her and she told me she would 'just stay here awhile', or something similar. I couldn't interact with her about anything else. I carried on, thinking it was just a small bug and Vilja would respawn when I next entered the Hlaalu farm.
A few game hours later I entered the Jarl's palace to talk with his stooge and there was Vilja again! This time stood next to Ulfrics throne. Again, other than a line of dialogue, she wouldn't do anything than stand there.
After I had completed the section of the Donkey Quest where you're supposed to reunite with Vilja and she didn't appear, I returned to the Palace and there was Vilja still at Ulfrics throne. This time, however, she DID come with me and acted like nothing was out of place.
Strange.
Don't you think so too?
I hope Gavain2 got his problem with Vilja sorted out in the end, very much!

I've had similar (though, much smaller problem). When I have told Vilja to wait at home she leaves my service but her teleport ability seems to still "kick in" and she randomly teleports to locations behind you(as,when she teleports it's always behind me).
One time there was a quest I was afraid would get bugged if she came with me and I had told her to wait. When I came back she wasn't where I left her.She had teleported inside ,where I had been.
Maybe this has something to do with this problem? Her teleport ability is getting bugged somehow.
Dunno,just a thought.
PS this also happned in 1.2.I have not incurred this problem since
