Some hints on how to find lost companions, extracted from threads in the old Forum. Also useful to find other npcs who have wandered away.
Most companions come with some form of summoning - ring, amulet etc. Try that first, it usually works, and if it doesn't you may have other problems.
NOTE Resurrecting a dead companion is often a bad idea - it risks breaking related quests - so it's usually better to reload the last save.
You will generally need to know the companion's id, which can be found by opening the construction set, loading the relevant mod file, then searching for the companion. Also you could open the console, point the cursor at the companion, and see the id displayed (but as you've lost the companion, this probably isn't much use, unless you do this on an old save).

By Neko, from the thread "Lulu where are you?", to retrieve the packguar Lulu:
... should be near the balmora strider port
--------------------------------------------------------------
A more extensive/generic version of this, by Kateri, from the thread "Finding a Lost NPC":
First, you need the NPC's ID-name. If it's an original game NPC, this will usually just be their in-game name, but you should put quotes around it if there is a space between the first name and surname.
First, go outside, into an exterior cell.
Then, open the console and type:
player->getpos x
player->getpos y
player->getpos z
You should receive three numbers. Then, if you wanted to find, say, Edwinna Elbert, you would next type:
"edwinna elbert"->position x y z 0
with x y and z replaced by the numbers you received for those values previously. Hit return, and Edwinna (or whoever) should appear where you are.

Osiris suggested an alternative way to get player coordinates (but if it's hosted on the old elric site, and we've moved from there because the site is unstable, then the mod may not be available...):
If someone is interested to know the in - game coordinates i suggest an easier way - use the "Lodestone" mod, by Shiva 7663.
Here you go:
www.elricm.com/
and look around for "Lodestone".
Copying from Elric's:
"From the console, type "player->additem shvLodestone 1". When you wish to check your current location, drag the Lodestone from your inventory as if you were going to equip it. A MessageBox will appear with the needed information; click the OK button when done."

Suggested by melian, from the thread "[BETA] New healer companion - testers needed!", to locate/retrieve Comes-by-Road
[if] "getpos x" doesn't return any value at all, you *may* be able to get him back by using "positionCell 0 0 0 0 wilderness" then using the amulet.
