I tried installing it, and installed fixes, ran Wyre Mash, BSAReg and Morrowind code patch. And nothing! It keeps giving me problems! I will upload the warnings file which holds all errors I get when trying to run the game and my Wyre Mash image-- Although other than that I will be glad to see a full tutorial to installing it. D: What am I doing wrong?! Attachments:Warnings.txt (12.91 KB)

I'm sorry but you enclosed the wrong attachment. this is Wrye Mash load order.
Do you get messages about missing body parts and CTDs when entering a cell with Children? In that case it's probably the bsa that isn't properly registred.
If the bsa isn't properly registred and you don't know how to install it manually (there are instructions in the readme), I would suggest that you simply extract the bsa and install the folders. This mod is 9 years old, made for Windows XP users at a time when Wrye Mash didn't even exist and BSAReg was the ultimate bsa-tool. So some of the instructions might not work equally well with Windows8 and a new computer.
I hope that extracting the bsa will help, as I think the mod is still very much worth having - it does breath new life into Morrowind to have kids running around.

I tried starting a new game, and all downloaded files were extracted properly into the Data files folder. (Steam.) As I said, it gives me issues about Meshes, missing Master files and does not acknowledge the fact I also extracted the .nif files fixes from your site. If I do let it load without quitting, it crashes anyway. Take a peek at the Warnings file, maybe? It seems to just focus on Meshes and children, although I did download all files and extract them.
Hmm... by extracting the BSA files you mean to get the files inside of it? Otherwise I have no idea what could be wrong. Unless it's just because I have a newer computer than the Mod was meant for.

Hi, I can't see your warnings, as you uploaded a page from Wrye Mash instead of the warnings you should get in the datafiles-folder (see my previous post). Oh, sigh, you're on Steam!! Then I have no idea how the Morrowind files should be placed. If it's anything like Skyrim it's in a Steam/SteamApps/Common/Morrowind/Data folder, but I seriously have no idea of how it works with a bsa package that is made for a traditional Bethesda/Games/Morrowind/datafiles-folder. Now I must strongly suggest that you extract the BSA so that you get to the files that are inside it, because it is the only solution I can Think of. You probably aren't the only one playing Morrowind with mods on Steam. I would suggest that you ask your question also here: forums.bethsoft.com/forum/12-morrowind-mods/ There must be other people using Children on Morrowind with Steam, too.

Good news, Emma! I did as you said and extracted all files from the BSA files. The game loads now, and I just saw the pretty kids in the first area! But when started the game I still get an error which goes something like this:
"Object reference 1em_child_338
Current file MW_CH_ELVES.esp Cell "Ald_ruhn"."
Is there another file I need? I'll also try on the forum you gave me, but maybe you know how to fix this one issue that still pops up. Thanks!
Oh, this is my current Warnings file:
One of the files that "Tribun_iboyfriend_2_1.esp" is dependent on has changed since the last save. This may result in errors. Saving again will clear this message but not necessarily fix any errors. One of the files that "MW_family2_0.esp" is dependent on has changed since the last save. This may result in errors. Saving again will clear this message but not necessarily fix any errors. One of the files that "MW_ch_orc.esp" is dependent on has changed since the last save. This may result in errors. Saving again will clear this message but not necessarily fix any errors. One of the files that "MW_ch_elves.esp" is dependent on has changed since the last save. This may result in errors. Saving again will clear this message but not necessarily fix any errors. One of the files that "MW_br_im_no_kids.esp" is dependent on has changed since the last save. This may result in errors. Saving again will clear this message but not necessarily fix any errors. One or more plugins could not find the correct versions of the master files they depend on. Errors may occur during load or game play. Check the "Warnings.txt" file for more information. Object reference "1em_child_338" missing in master file.
Current file "MW_ch_elves.esp" Cell "Ald-ruhn" Texture "Textures\_land_default.tga" count 3. Texture "Textures\menu_thick_border_bottom_right_corner.dds" count 2.

Where did you download the mod? I Think the file MW_ch_elves.esp was an add-on to the outdates ver 1 of Children in Morrowind, but it was at least 6 years ago that I updated to ver 2 . These two messages should be harmless (provided that you are using the latest version of Morrowind family and not the old one, and as it says 2_0 it should be OK): One of the files that "Tribun_iboyfriend_2_1.esp" is dependent on has changed since the last save. This may result in errors. Saving again will clear this message but not necessarily fix any errors. One of the files that "MW_family2_0.esp" is dependent on has changed since the last save. This may result in errors. Saving again will clear this message but not necessarily fix any errors. It only means that your install of Morrowind is newer than the date on the esp. But the MW_ch_elves and orcs are old files.

Forgive me for resurrecting this old thread, but I thought that with Steam's recent release of 'Morrowind: Game of the Year Edition' there will surely be others who - like me - looked for the solution to this extremely frustrating problem here on this forum (only to be disappointed!) If this is indeed the case, then here is the *very* simple answer:
Open morrowind.ini and add the bsa to the [Archive] list e.g.
[Archives] Archive 0=Tribunal.bsa Archive 1=Bloodmoon.bsa Archive 2=MW_Children_1_0.bsa
Sorted!
For some strange reason I only got this issue when I reinstalled the game, and had already enjoyed many happy hours with this mod (and why I was desperate to fix it.) Thank you Emma and Robert for this really brilliant creation!
*Edit* I've learned that 'BSA Registration Utility' will do the same job for all the BSA files in your directory.
