Why, Dogonporch, you made me want to dig through my old Oblivion screenies and see if there was anything worth posting! I haven't done an Oblivion playthrough in years (I thought the Oblivion gates appearing every time I turned around was really obnoxious, but unfortunately, that was kind of the point!), but found a couple I could put together into one image. In the first image, Saerileth seems to be saying, "And just where do you think you're going, mister?" In the second, the Andrevik is muttering, "She's making fun of me again. I hate when she does that!"

Here's another one, while we're at it, but a little more somber. This screenie was taken right after the big battle to disable the enormous Daedric Siege Engine toward the end of the main quest. One of the companions, named Julia, sadly didn't make it. Andrevik pays his respects at her grave.

I don't bother with the Main Quest anymore. My wife is playing with the MQ active...but she kind of regrets it, now. She has about a dozen other mods active that add their own sprawling quest-lines. Overload...plus it makes the world look pretty ugly if one has many gate spawns. Currently we only have the two PCs active. This particular set-up is female only so I'm pretty much delegated to being one. But my PC is used mainly for Construction Set purposes...that is...does the new mod work, etc...so she has hundreds of hours of playtime just standing around scratching her rear. Oblivion...and Skyrim...are like one of those big model train sets. You can just keep adding to the world as you see fit. That's the real attraction. I'm just about done fixing the hurriedly built...but beautiful...Shivering Isles. Away from the roads, not much attention was paid to detail...or even making sure that the rocks were set properly. So that needed to be rectified as well as adding more NPCs, villages, trees, mushrooms, flora, critters and what-not. The works...as they say. As for the PCs themselves...many mods were added to make them more realistic. They have their needs...and wants. So you gotta eat, drink, sleep, go to the bathroom, breath, get clean, have sex...etc. All with pros and cons...carrots & sticks. Scratch, scratch, scratch...

dogonporch: "Nice pix...are those Spicy Fox leather armor? ...or something else?" Honestly, I don't remember, it's been so long. I think we got into a really nasty fight in a cave to get 'em. That's all I can recall. Saerileth's uber-dippy helmet almost certainly came from Shivering Isles, though.

I forget all the stuff I've added or changed. But it is over 100 gigs in size...bloated monster. I know I've installed all the Spicy Fox stuff. But damned if I can recall who I had sell them. We counted once...with all the mods...there are about 10,000 added NPCs with full AI wandering around. Not all at once, of course.

Nope...AI functions off screen pretty simply. Following commands on the hour. On screen, our Oblivion is set to 100 NPCs allowed in a complex scene. Too many in one place could certainly slow you down. But that's quite rare.

Saerileth is very cute, specially in your screenshots. Right now, I decided to give my 2012 character, Olivier, an inn on the Green Road. Here's him with Fergus and Vilja. The Inn Here's him as the tavern owner. I added an alchemist so that the player can buy potions from him. I am to create a few paintings with the screenshots to show that he used to be an adventurer.

"What a lovely evening"...says Vilja. Emily eyes-up one of the Knights of Order's crystal shrines for potential plunder...but Vilja has other plans for Emily.

... I haven't done an Oblivion playthrough in years (I thought the Oblivion gates appearing every time I turned around was really obnoxious, but unfortunately, that was kind of the point!)... I also found the whole Oblivion gates bit overblown, especially since destroyed gates never disappear but remain a smoking blight on the landscape for the duration of that game. But there is a mod - BFG's Open All the Gates - which helps by giving you control over how many gates appear; at one extreme only those gates necessary for the main quest appear (about eight, I believe) and do not respawn, at the other extreme you can have 100 gates open at a time and they all respawn. One reason I hated the gates so is they seem little more than incredibly repetitious FPS mini-games tacked on to an otherwise enjoyable RPG.

Thanks, dogonporch! I'm still working on it. I think I'll add a couple of paintings with Olivier's screenshots showing his life as an adventurer. jgf I remember that I used to find Oblivion gates fun until I realized they could repeat over and over and over again. Last time I played, I didn't bother to progress in the main quest. LOL

I'm a prolific builder at times, myself. I finished-off both Hammerfell and Black Marsh...tons of unused landscaped brought to life. www.nexusmods.com/oblivion/mods/46934/?www.loverslab.com/files/file/8176-blackmarsh-wilderness/Both are done-up proper with AI pathing, spawns, NPCs, settlements, etc...

dogonporch I'll double-check your mods, I downloaded both. I also discovered Desert of Anequina have been updated. I did like that mod.

They're companion friendly...ie Vilja. My wrist hurt from all the rocks... Black Marsh has a slight conflict with Elsweyr (near Alabaster) that is fixed with Land Magic...link in the mod's read-me. They don't conflict with other Hammerfell/Black Marsh projects that use their own world spaces.
