Forgot to include the 3D head render. I found recently that there are ways to manipulate the stock head mesh when you run out of slider limits in stock facegen. The biggest problems I've found with the stock head shape is that the lip line can be bowed downward or the cheeks can be too prominent or the eyes too large but these problems can be tweaked in construction set.

In Oblivion, I was using the Breton Freckles mod...looked similar. Good looking charcter.

Nice. It's so difficult to make an oblivion character that doesn't look like an ugly balloon-head.

Nice. It's so difficult to make an oblivion character that doesn't look like an ugly balloon-head. Seconded. Unless I was using an already-attractive template, all my characters were terribly homely.

"...all my characters were terribly homely"
Then they are right at home in Cyrodil, where the denizens look like they fell out of the ugly tree and hit every branch on the way down.
With diligence you can create decent characters, but the controls are so inter-related that every time you adjust something it interferes with something else, so there's excessive back-and-forth between adjustments. I've spent well over an hour creating a character (and once had the blasted game crash afterwards, before I could save).

On the left is a stock Oblivion character I just created. On the right is my latest character mod. Working with the stock character in stock facegen I did the best I could, adding only a hair and eyelash mod. I see Bethesda could have done SO much more with the face textures of their stock characters. I notice the blown out areas in the stock face texture, such as the areas under the eyes and the forehead. The lips also leave much to be desired. Only after moving the age slider all the way to the left was I able to remove the crows feet from under her eyes and was able to get a somewhat decent character. It took at least an hour working on her. So you guys are right; it's not easy getting a decent stock character. I've been modding face textures so long I forgot how difficult stock character creation can be. Attachments:

A quote from a Gilbert and Sullivan best describes Oblivion chargen-> "She might very well pass for 43 in the dusk with the light behind her." Wondering how in heck I remembered that.
@ urrl That's about as good a vanilla face as I've ever seen. Kudos. There is still the lighting issue but I don't know if anyone has been able to address that.

I think the lighting issue is that there is different lighting in the chargen screen than in the game. Seems I saw a mod somewhere that changed the chargen ambient lighting.
