I just found this on a yahoo Education and Reference site. Written by an American! Here it is
In Britain, I noticed plenty of spelling mistakes - centre, "zebra crossing" - that's retarded, aluminium, doughnut (the correct spelling is donut), and some more I can't think of. Why haven't they brushed up their English? I thought with the help of American movies, music, books, TV shows, and other medias, their English would improve. But I guess I was wrong.....
This is a joke? Well, I hope it is.
And now we buy 'muffins' which are a cake. I grew up with a muffin being a round flattish bread. Why are we becoming so 'Americanised' over here in our language. It's not for the better as far as I'm concerned' I love English English the Welsh accent and Scottish also.plus all the many dialects of our own here in England.

I bet you still can't say Aluminum properly Seyheb. Although Aluminium is written exactly the same in German, it is pronounced completely differently. In English it is: Alummmminium or even Alummmnm In German it is: Aloumeeeenioum or Alou mean youm:) I say Ali mini eum, eum as in ted ium rhyls

Most do, it is a running British, American joke that Americans cannot say it properly. Which is why I tossed it back at Seyheb.

rhyls, we are amicable because we are here, or rather, because these are Emmas' forums, the ONLY reason we would be here and posting, and chatting with each other. Is that we truly care about Vilja, and Emma, and the work and I DO MEAN WORK, that was done by her and Amgepo and Wolf and others. Vilja is a Concert, with a very very good conductor. ....and in this forum, with one of the best and most appreciative audience.

Accents are a strange kind of thing. Personally, from the first time I listened to Vilja I was intrigued. At this point, after playing with her as a companion and wife, I hear what I want to hear. I still hear her as the first time I met her. It's because it's what I expect and want to hear. I have traveled extensively and my ex-wife is natural born French (stole her away from France many years ago), so I am used to hearing accents every day and at times when I think back, I still her original accent, but when I'm upset with her, I don't hear the accent.... Strange. Any way, I truly think that if you get immersed in a subject, you do hear what you first learned of the voice, but as time goes on and you become complacent, then you find it harder to detect your initial experience.
Sorry for the wandering thoughts, but I just thought how ironic it is that we sometimes forget the wonderful things in life, like Vilja's voice.

As far as accents go, I've always personally felt that they only add to someone's charm. But I do wish to believe there is another factor that helps to add to the type of mood created or united sense of comradely in a group. And that is the attitude or life condition of the Conductor (central figure ). Just like parents can set the mood of their family's behavior or a manager can set the tone of their workplace I feel that Emma sets an example by how she behaves and motivates us to respond to her expectations of us. (at least in my case! ). Everyone here brings their own unique flavor to the community pot. Yet they all blend together so well! (with a little stirring! ). All I can say is thanks to everyone and especially thanks to you Emma for creating the magic we all can share, in the first place! (or double magic in my case! ).

I have to say that I find this Forum a comfortable place to be at. I think because there are so many threads in which everyone can find some comments to add,or advice to share, generally,it is like being among friends.
Just imagine everyone sat around a big table and some jugs of beers etc on there. Chaired of course by Emma and Vilja.
