Heya everyone,
I already experienced that Vilja walked off in the city because she had the urge to do some shopping. Not that I asked her to, no she just walked away and impossible to stop. Fair enough, who doesn't know that from rl ;-) But today I had travelled quite a bit to a quest and when I want to enter the location (quite a bit away from Rifton) she says "I need a drink and I need it now! You can meet me ..." - and off she walks, back to Rifton. Well I laughed pretty hard, but I'd like to know if that behaviour is completely random or if I have been a bad company for her not giving her something to drink for a too long time.
Does anyone have experience with that?
- Aar

If you wish, you can turn off that behavior by going to "Travelling together..." > "Regarding your behaviour" > "Regarding some of your habits". She is very configurable and it is worth exploring the options under "Travelling together".

I thought she only does that when in cities to prevent her from walking off while doing quests in the wild.

I configure her not to do that, but occasionally she decides she needs to talk to someone like Adrienne or the Riften Blacksmith regardless of that configuration.

Could you please check your armor before we get into a fight?

Typo for "dancing" would be my guess.

Apologies about the word 'nancing'. It's a facetious ironic slang restricted in this intent mostly to the gay community in San Francisco.

Nancing... Being a Nancy. No idea where it came from originally but I am familiar with it.
As for the situation her walking off for a drink is normal behavior but can you clarify where you were when she did it? She isn't supposed to do it in hostile area's and in my question about it in another forum I said entering a dungeon. There's also the question of did you tab out of dialogue with her in Riften then fast travel from Riften to the quest location? If you did tab and fast travel she could be finishing what was started in Riften.

Nancing... Being a Nancy. No idea where it came from originally but I am familiar with it. In SF we redefined the term to being the opposite of what you are. A facetious/ironic tongue in cheek rejection of derogatory terms of LGTB people. It's sort of a counter cultural term. As example, a butch gal dressing up femme max is nancing. A macho stud beefcake dressing femme, say skirt and makeup, is nancing. Or Vilja, demure but hard bitten battlemaid, doing the nude thing instead of armor would be nancing. The gay pride parades are loaded with nancing. A statement: we defy being categorized and labeled. The original nancing TERM was a vicious slap in the face to a man acting swish, so we just twisted it into our own version. Origin: dictionary.reference.com/browse/nance

Oh, OK. Understood.
Now I remember hearing the term "nancy-boy" in a British comedy many years ago. Similar meaning, I think.

Thanks for the replies to my question. Actually I like this behaviour, just wanted to know if it is completely random or if there are reasons she does so. Concerning the question about the "where": It happened at the Black-Briar-Manor. I know that I did not fast-travel there because I had not discovered the location yet.

OK that location isn't considered a hostile location by the game like a bandit camp or fort would be. So yeah she can decide it's drinking time there. Kinda an appropriate one as well, Vilja thought Blackbriar and the first thing that comes to mind is mead so she just had to go get some mead.
