I am getting a bit nervous about Vilja's repeated question, "Do you know of a cure for vampirism"?" I hope this is nothing ominous. :-)

Just idle chatter. Vilja cannot "catch" vampirism without being scripted to do so. And if you become a vampire she will stay with you (in fact she has another idle comment about "laying around looking languorous" if that happens).
FWIW, Vilja will get sick once; it is a scripted event and you must find a cure. You will know immediately since she will bend over as if in the middle of a technicolor yawn and refuse to go anywhere. I am convinced this is programmed to occur at the most inconvenient locations imaginable.

There are some topics Vilja will repeat when something is installed wrong. The idea is to make the player ask in the forums and so to be informed that something is not installed. I didn't recall the topics, neither the parts needed to be installed (so much time...), but "do you know of a cure for vampirism" could be one of them. Ensure you have the main file, the bsa package and Vilja in solstheim patch.

I have everything for Vilja installed, to the best of my knowledge, have successfully done all her quests (unless there is something well hidden which I've never triggered), and I still hear the "cure for vampirism" comment; it seems quite random, so I've always assumed it was one of a pool of phrases she used.

I didn't realice this wasn't about the Skyrim Version of Vilja. Sorry.

I am getting a bit nervous about Vilja's repeated question, "Do you know of a cure for vampirism"?" I hope this is nothing ominous. :-) Take a look in your Oblivion effects and see if there are any drains on your PC. In our experience, Vilja can say this anytime there are drains on fatigue. I assumed she just "thinks" it's vampirism.

You are probably in an area where there are vampires nearby. She says this whenever InhabitantType = 1 inhabitant types: 0=unknown, 1=vampires, 2=necromancers, 3=undead, 4=conjurerers, 5=daedra, 6=bandits/maurauders, 7=goblins, 8=monsters/animals

Thanks for this useful information. I should have specified Oblivion Vilja. I have progressed quite far with her, I think--past being sent hither and yon by Heneri to finding 10 Fly Amanita Caps for Vilja--and I was wondering, not if Vilja might become a vampire but whether one or another of her Morrowind relations might require a cure. I'm glad to learn this is not the case. My characters have never had vampirism but I have read about the cure and I would dread having to go through that. :-)
Vilja is a wonderful companion and I thoroughly enjoy having her along. My main project with her just now is finding a left-handed ring for her to wear, which I can then enchant. I swear I have tried on all the ordinary rings available for sale--gold, jade, jade ruby, pearl, etc. etc. ad infinitum--without success. Vilja must wonder why I repeatedly give her several rings, then look at her left hand, then take them away. I begin to think there is no such ring.

There are rings for both hands, it's just a matter of finding them. Or you could use the construction set to make a copy of any ring, rename it, set it for left hand, and leave it somewhere you can easily get it (NOT in a container, where it might be theft to take it).

Of course you know what will happen; once you find a left hand ring ....every ring you find for weeks will be a left hand ring.

Don't look unless you want a solid hint. There is the Mundane Ring and The Ring of the Iron Fist. Flat-out cheating. player.additem 9844b 1 player.additem 98458 1

Thanks. I would never use the console to add such rings but I will be on the lookout for them.
