Basically what the title says. She has an elder scroll now in her hands, and i can't make her get rid of it. I even tried to use the remove item on her and it didn't work at all.
edit: I had to completely uninstall Vilja and use the "we did this already" options to get back to something close to where I was. I probably will have to do the heavy wolf armor stuff again but she's not walking around with an elder scroll on her hand so...

I think the elder scroll is a projectile. If so, making her equip her bow should help her unequip it. A bit late and not sure if it's a proper workaround.

I assume you didn't give it to her, so, if it's really a projectile (which I'm almost sure it is), she could have picked up it from a container should have been directed to look for arrows, or during a combat where she was using ranged style (again, she needs to be directed to use ranged style) with no more arrows to use.
She could have get caught in an alias from another mod too (this is the most probable case. There are mods that pick NPCs randomly for filling different roles, but most probably a follower overhaul may have give her an AI package, making her pick up random arrows by default).

I picked up an Elder Scroll a while ago and am now stuck with it. An employment contract 7,000 miles from home.

Open the console and type CoC HomeCellInFrontOfTV. Then again, you need to open the console first, which is really difficult in this game

I think "coc Phuket" would be a shorter and better teleport

I think "coc Phuket" would be a shorter and better teleport I hate that place. Tourist hell with some Thailand attached. The hemorrhoid of the country. Now if I could only get coc Black Mountain to work. But there are too many Black Mountains.

I simply picked it up from blackreach and headed off to solitude after I used it at the throat of the world to put it in the Legacy of the Dragonborn Display case. When I looked behind me I realized in her city/home outfit she had the scroll in her hands. The only follower mod I have is the Immersive Follower Framework one, and it doesnt affect followers such as Vilja and Inigo by design.

Besides her picking it if you asked her to pick arrows or during combat, and directed by another mod caching her in an alias, if you are playing in Skyrim Special edition, maybe they added some of the AI changes from Fallout 4, which would make NPCs prone to hoard items. Who knows. Never tried Legacy of the Dragonborn, I only know you are supposed to collect unique items and place them in some kind of museum.
It's supposed to happen something to any of the items you put there in it's questline, or from the items perspective they are simply stored there?

It has several quest lines, some of which are tied ot the items you display. A haunting, several excivation digs, quests involving Snow Elves and their lost artifacts, and a really big one that I didn't get to try before I restarted my save, and its going to get even bigger with the upcoming Odyssy of the Dragonborn update. Its way more then a home or storage mod. It has support for a lot of other mods too including 3DNPCs and Vigilant so you can desplay unique items from them in the museum. Its really made collecting everything feel fun cause I am a bit of a hoarder.

Maybe it's one of those quests tied to items you display, the one that took over Vilja's AI for a moment and made her pick up the elder scroll then. Is any one of them related to a NPC taking an item there? (maybe someone stealing from the museum, or something like that)

Vilja picks up random object which is flagged... Break the quest, break the game or break Vilja. Decisions decisions. Sure glad he had lots of saved games.
