My Nord asked Sinnammu Mirpal to arrange her marriage with Julan on day 185, and helped her start the move to Ald Daedroth the same day... then went off and did other stuff, periodically checking in. (And sometimes having to console-move Sinnammu to an accessible location when she randomly vanished due to OpenMW bugs.) She kept saying she'd conduct the marriage when the Ahemmusa were done with the move. I've now finished Tribunal and Bloodmoon in addition to the main quest, but Sinnammu is still out there in Ald Daedroth with nobody but Ordinators for company. The Ahemmusa are still all at the original camp. And the "arrange the wedding" topic has vanished from all conversations. What's going on here? Does it just... take a lot of in-game time to for the tribe to move? Did the move get cancelled because I finished the main quest first? Is it just OpenMW being still too buggy to use with Julan? Please halp. My game engine: OpenMW 0.46.0 Flatpak version on Fedora 34 My mods (in order of loading): Patch for Purists
Julan Ashlander Companion 2.0.2 NatalieN's patches for Julan on OpenMW More Barter Gold No Arrow Weight Alex's Running Without Fatigue Westly's FCOT Better Bodies Better Clothes Better Heads Morrowind Optimization Patch Project Atlas TBH I've also been changing the mod order around lately to try and see if I can get Julan's pathfinding less broken... I didn't realize at first that OpenMW launcher allows changing load order, I thought it was in order of data= rather than content= entries in openmw.cfg. Also I started off without NatalieN's patches because I didn't know they were needed. Maybe my savefile is gronked? I sure hope not, I'm pretty invested in Ellis the Nord at this point. Edit: forgot to mention, it's currently day 207 ingame. Also thanks so much to Kateri for this amazing mod... TBH it's been keeping me sane lately.

I haven't used this mod so am speaking generically for Morrowind mods (and I've no experience at all with OpenMW). It is possible a script stalled and the move was never completed or maybe never started; it could be that you overlooked some seemingly trivial act - going somewhere, doing something, talking to a particular NPC, etc. - that was essential to trigger the move. And, sadly, it is possible the save is corrupt (never use quicksave, it is notorious for causing odd problems); worst scenario is some strange bug in the game is saved early and remains in the save from then on, to cause issues much later (this is virtually impossible to find, much less correct ...I had to start anew a couple of times due to such game breakers). If you started without the patches it is quite possible you did something, or didn't do something, that the patch would have corrected, but now it's too late; best advice there, if you have kept old saves, is to go back to a save from before you added the patch and play from there with the patch ...but you've no idea how far back you would need to go. Otherwise you will have to use the construction set to inspect the mod and find where you are in that questline, then use the console to advance the quest to the next stage. If Kateri were still here (haven't seen her in years) she could easily look up where your character is in the quest and how to advance them; hopefully someone else here has that data.

Ah okay, thank you anyway... Honestly I doubt this is an issue with OpenMW? At least I'd hope not. It's a clean room replacement for the engine, open source and pretty heavily developed, so I'd sure hope basic stuff like quicksave bugs would get weeded out early And I've certainly experienced very little instability with it so far, compared to running any 3D game from that era in Wine. Didn't know you could do that with the construction kit, thanks for mentioning. OpenMW has its own, maybe I'll check that out? In any case I started a new game already. (And I was roleplaying Ellis as a bit of an absentminded mad scientist alchemist, so her losing track of the wedding plans would kind of track anyway.)

Aha! Belatedly found the answer, it's a kind of specific detail. From Kateri's FAQ
Ellis never became Zainab Nerevarine, just coasted to the endgame on 50+ Reputation. The buying a slave/selling another woman to an abuser bit would have been super out of character for her, and also squicked me way too much.
Perhaps this time around I'll deal with it by taunting the Ashkhan until I can kill him, once he's given me his thong etc. That would be more in keeping with my current character.
Edit: just wanted to add - I have pretty strong feelings about slavery in fiction, and for the most part I feel like Morrowind does it right. But I don't like the way it plays female slaves' suffering for laughs (the Zainab Nerevarine mission, "The Lusty Argonian Maid", stuff like that) .

It made it a pain to write that part of my main quest fanfic. I ended up breaking from the way the game does it in order to keep continuity with how the main character does (and doesn't!) do things. p.s. I'm also running OpenMW. Aside from some minor annoyances, it's been running fine for me.

Well, looks like I spoke too soon. Became Nerevarine of all four tribes as indicated, went back to Ald Daedroth, and discovered Sinnammu had vanished completely from the shrine completely. ResetActors didn't help. Went back to the camp... went to her tent, empty... used ResetActors, and there she is. Talk to her, and she thinks she's still at Ald Daedroth, and won't give the quest to move the camp. Maybe I need to become Hortator first? I have no idea. Also BTW is it just me being dense, or can I not get Shani to join my party if I'm dating Julan? I really want to see her dialog in Tribunal, but she hates my Nerevarine

Might be too late, and might be obvious but here: fallingawkwardly.com/mods/JulanFAQ.html this helped me a lot, and I've additional screenshots coming from the bethesda forum should you need those too, as I had MANY issues with the moving to Ald Daedroth on OMW, which was only fixable with some scripts to skip it (said scripts are on the forum). I got the move to finish, and also was able to get the marriage topic working after completing the main quest. My LO is crammed to the brim AND I've got Shani with me (just as a friend, my Priestess felt bad for her so despite being in love with Julan she wanted Shani to not feel leftout). So yeah, everything can work in OMW it's just script issues. Side note I always thought it was better for her to be given to the tribe since she's not kept in a slavers market, abused and underfed. At the tribe she'd be looked after more, although ofc it's not incredibly better. My headcanon is that we also tell her how she can escape similar to how Mashti's mother did. Nobody would recognise her and she could find solace in the Mission, and perhaps even become a freelancer or work for them. EDIT: I've gotten the screenshots The link also describes how to get Shani to follow, but I can briefly summarise should you want it.

OMG thank you so much! Do you have a link to the post with the scripts? I kinda don't want to sift through hundreds of pages of forum thread... Edit: also probably good to keep backup copies of the scripts, since Bethesda will be shutting down the forums at some point. Edit 2: re slavery... I guess? The Zainab Ashkhan seems like quite a perv, and the tribe's Wise Woman is a close friend of the owner of the slave market. At least it's an aversion of the more common "noble savage" writing of the Ashlanders, I guess? Might be too late, and might be obvious but here: fallingawkwardly.com/mods/JulanFAQ.html this helped me a lot, and I've additional screenshots coming from the bethesda forum should you need those too, as I had MANY issues with the moving to Ald Daedroth on OMW, which was only fixable with some scripts to skip it (said scripts are on the forum).

One of Bethseda's numb nut foibles. The Dunmer being described as "They also have a natural affinity for magic and great intellect, making them skillful sorcerers." While in Morrowind they are mostly primitive ignorant xenophobic turkey butts. The developers tossed the slavery issue into Morrowind as a one of the main plot devices practiced by both Altmer and Dunmer. Go rescue 50 slaves and win a bouquet of dead flowers stuff. Mandatory trite Hollywood plot device. You have to have a few big bad meanies to overcome.

Well, whatever didn't work in OpenMW 0.46 seems to work fine in 0.47, and I was finally able to progress to the marriage! It was, uh. Something.
