Recently discovered, it seems that Vilja's inventory weight limit is zero after she meets the dragon and gets ready to fight.
When I import items with weight from her, I can't give them back, and with her inventory open, the My Inventory tab displays all items with weight in gray (disabled).
Never had this problem before, even after a fight with a dragon. It was after the "Diplomatic Immunity" quest that I found this bug, so I tried to retrieve the previous save data and proceed again, but after a big fight, her inventory still goes to zero.
The console key that increases the weight limit does not work, and wearing accessories that increase the weight limit does not solve it.
Strangely, I can put items normally into her separate Extra storage, but the fact that this function works normally doesn't help me much because I actually don't use it...
I use 4.2 version(SE). Has anyone experienced a bug like this?
What mods and conflicts cause these bugs? I need help.

While @emma or amgepo or Wolf probably know about this one thing you can try. Make a new save game. In the console, click on Vilja then type removeallitems <enter> and see if that changes anything. Have you tried in the console, do the click on her then Modav carryweight -265 ? This resets a bug caused by certain mods. You can also check her with clicking on her then getav carryweight |

I'll call up a bugged save and try it. However, I tried the "RemoveItem XX0C38D4 99999999" console that I found in Emma's FAQ before, but it didn't work. |

And also click on Vilja and use showinventory . This will reveal impossible items that shouldn't be in the inventory list as well as everything else.
And if all else fails, empty her inventory then click on her and use forceav inventoryweight 0

I've tried "showinventory" console before, but the only thing that's shown in the console window is items that were actually in her inventory and a bunch of '0armorbody' items. However, as far as I know, the '0armorbody' item has no weight, so I don't think it will cause problems with Vilja's carrying weight. |

Not an inventory issue then. A bug. The Diplomatic Immunity quest and the Thalmor embassy is loaded with bugs. The soundest suggestion is to revert to a save before you spoke with Delphine. Otherwise you could end up chasing ghosts. Some people have reduced everything to beta testing level. Dismiss all followers, carry no other quest items in your inventory then do the quest line without deviation from start to finish. A good idea is to also have no other pending quests open.And it's a good idea to not have any mods running that effect any NPC, the PC or events while at the embassy.
Once you have finished the quest use getstage to check and be certain it is finished.

I don't think it's a problem with the 'Diplomatic Immunity' quest. I loaded the quest save that meet Malborn, and then I engaged the dragon near White Run Without leaving my equipment to Malborn. After the engagement, Vilja's inventory still fails to receive items with weight. I received a carry weight value through the 'Getav carryweight' console, which was 35 and could be increased or decreased through the 'modav carryweight xx' or 'forceav carryweight xx' console. However, the problem that I can't give items to her inventory is still unresolved. |

"From my experience you would be best to reload a previous save "Before you spoke to delphine in Riverwood" Also before starting the quest clear as many quest items as possible so that you can get an empty inventory and store most gear in your own safe storage. As you have had difficulty with the quest you may need to allow skyrim to reset... before starting it sleep for a month in a small room then empty your inventory except for gear to give Malborn.
Then focus just on that quest."

As far as I can recall, we tried to prohibit this, and make her say no to following you, just in order to ensure that she wasn't affected by any of the bugs related to it. Maybe you used the console to summon her to you? There are difficulties with followers and this quest, and although Wolf and I have been discussing back and forth for more than an hour now, we can not come up with anything that is better than Sniffles' suggestions (that in fact are very good, and loads of thanks to you, Sniffles, for being so helpful  ) P S this is maybe a silly question, but you did try to use the Vilja Reset Spell on her, didn't you? |

Thanks ever so much on chiming in on this Emma. As an aside, as I properly prepare to re-install Skyrim, I've been studying mods very carefully. And quite honestly, I'm astounded as to how complex Vilja is. Not just a mod but a third generation honed and polished Skyrim adjunct worthy of being an optional game unto itself, IE Skyrim with Vilja.
Between you, your team and Smartbluecat's Inigo my mind boggles as to how much effort was put into those mods. (As an aside, what would be perfection would have been you and Smartbluecat working together on a joint Skyrim mod using Vilja in Oblivion as a prototype where the two would intrinsically interact.
I let my mind wander here, taking the personality you laced into Vilja, the staid steadfast determined practical companion of the PC with very much a mind and agenda of her own. It's easy to imagine Vilja having heard of or known Inigo sometime in the past. Vilja rolling her eyes at the mention of his name. "Yes, I know him. A good heart and honestly charming, but has a few very loose bolts in his think department. Sort of like having a pet ferret where you need to use some shiny trinket to mesmerize him and get him back on track when his mind inevitably wanders off.
But to the point, an unsaid, Vilja is more stable and in places far better coded than the Skyrim game itself. This is purely reasoning. When something goes wrong with Vilja the chances are she has had a conflict with the game and if not the games fault, it is much more suspect as the root cause of the problem than Vilja. Throw a super nasty variable into the soup, other mods, and it's a wonder Vilja works as well as she does.
But! And pardon the emphasis, there is one major problem with Vilja that has nothing to do with her. Several of her quests involve other NPCs such as Wilbert. Unfortunately quite a few of those are in an environment where scripts and other actions are going off - part of the game itself. Vilja can get victimized by all the other activities and her instruction set doesn't get triggered properly. The prime perfect examples are the Windpeake Inn, a quest killer in it's own right, and of course, the Thalmor Embassy, as well as others. Both of those two operate as beta programs that should have been play tested much more thoroughly. And other unforeseeable foibles as a crucial juncture in Vilja's quest line upon leaving Eldergleam sanctuary where the next part of her quest triggers which happens to be a spawning point. If the spawn goes off at just the wrong time, Vilja's quest goes to hell in a leaky bucket. Even her meeting and initiating the bottle quest in Riverwood got screwed up and never initiated once, thanks to the activity on the street including that dog. I had a vivid memory of this as Vilja and her quest never started and my only save game was before meeting Vilja.
And so, with the topic of this thread, I'm personally renaming the Thalmor Embassy the Windpeake Inn quest wrecker Mark IV. And without doubt others can think of lots of other locations and circumstances that were simply impossible to foresee in making Vilja. (Mark II being the Eldergleam exit cell and Mark III something to do with Markarth.
And if all that wasn't enough, the Mod Deadly Dragons can send a very liberal dose of gigantic lizard quest wreckers in at any time in the wilderness. Until that reptilian pollution is dead and the PC is done sucking dragon fumes no script or quest trigger will function. Other mods of course can do the same thing but a dragon every few minutes .... ARRRRG!

I think I've finally found the cause.
'facelight' mod appears to be the cause.
At first, I assumed it was caused by Elemental Dragon mod, but even after this plug-in was removed, not only the dragon, but also after the big battle, her carryweight disappeared.
This is the result of continuing to load the previous save file and changing the conditions.
I'm venturing without applying faceelight to Vilja anymore, and at least now she doesn't lose carryweight capacity after a big battle.

I'm curious as to how that lighting effects things, but probably wouldn't understand the technical-eeze. But I have read about many problems that light sources cause. From what I understand, they change the games light settings in a cell. Each light source forces the game to take that into account. So adding a constant variable, a moving light source such as an NPC - wouldn't that be an ongoing script or code demanding the game keep up with the movable light? If it changes depending on the ambient light that could really futz things up. Additionally, Elemental Dragons are another light source, again movable and variable. Sounds like you could have accidentally created a perfect storm scenario. But going back to what Emma said, if her and Wolf head banged ways to keep Vilja away from a location, you can bet very safe money they did it for a solid reason. If she went with the PC to that embassy it sounds like another mod conflict that over-rode Vilja's code - if you didn't summon here there. Maybe the game was so busy accommodating dragon lightning and her face glowing in the dark it missed properly running Vilja's background coding.
Just put 'Skyrim light source issues' into a search engine. I did come across this: " I found out that there is a limit in Skyrim's engine concerning light sources per grid"
Also, as an aside, the Thalmor Embassy also tweaked the lighting. They wanted the place to be a little dark and foreboding I think, as well as having numerous light sources.
AND, there is a whole lot about bugs from the general Skyrim shadows issues. Obviously this gives the video a huge ball of dynamics to work out constantly. This applies whether the light source casts shadows or not. The engine still has to check every light source.
Vaguely recalling what my computer expert once mentioned about my modding, paraphrased, "Adding mods to the original game beyond what it was designed and tested to run. Yes, you can put a 1500 horsepower engine on a skateboard and it could potentially work. But expect a few problems that could come with it."

Running Vilja ver.1, and I had the weight problem where Vilja would not 'take' any items from my inventory... so I looked in the FAQ, saw that it was solvable and copied out 'RemoveItem XX0C38D4 99999999', entered the game and put EXACTLY THAT into the console.
Result... Goodbye Vilja! She has now disappeared completely from my game and all my saves, and we were pretty well advanced through both the game and her quests.
Oh, well. I should have paid attention to the next sentence in the FAQ which clearly states, 'Instead of XX type the first two digits you see when she is selected on the console.'
