Does Vilja automatically change Clothing/Armor once in awhile? So if you build up a collection of clothing/armor for her, it would be useful. I just re-installed Oblivion after 2 years off. Skyrim has me drooling... Emma this is a great Companion Mod, Thank you. Will you be continuing your Mods when Skyrim is release? I sure hope so Ken

She'll use the "best" outfits that she has. When it comes to armor, it's the armor that currently gives her the best protection. So if she has several, she'll switch when one is getting worn. When it comes to clothes, it's the clothing value that counts - the more expensive, the more she'll prefer it. So if you have clothes with the same value, she will switch back and forth now and then, sometimes when switching cells, sometimes when switching ai-packages. If you want her to carry armor and clothing without wearing them, you can put them in her blue and red bonus inventories (inside her regular inventory). Whatever you want her to wear when she sleeps, you should put in the pyjama bag (also in her inventory). I'm glad that you like her . Yes, I do hope to continue modding when Skyrim is released - but not until I have played the game thoroughly, of course - I know that once I have started to mod, there will be no more "real" playing.

It appears that the defense of armor in the decision is based only on the base value, and not on any enchantments. That means that an Elven Cuirass will be chosen over a Mithril one, even though the latter has a Shield enchantment that makes it "better".
The same applies to weapons. A companion will select a bow and arrow that add up to a higher base damage, over a staff, even though the staff's damage is not affected by skill level, and actually delivers more.

She has always 'preferred' the Light Blue Regalia over all her inventory, until I dropped Syl's dress in her virtual closet... Now she refuses to take it off! ) (I don't like the spikes around the neck, but I don't have the heart to forcibly remove it.

So it took a lot of trial and error and about 2500 pieces of clothing to figure out what I could have easily found in this thread, but it was fun so oh well. But I still suspect theres more depth to Vilja than this thread suggests. Over the course of time I accumulated many pieces of Identical value ( within their slot) and have discovered that Vilja actually seems to have a sense of coordination or fashion sense. For example, in her inventory she has 15 dresses all at a 100 value with no armor points, 20 odd pairs of heels all of the same value etc. From those she seems to be able to select outfits based on color and style, and she seems to memorize those selection as well. An example of that would be that she has two particular dresses identical in style , one in pink and the other in blue, both with white details. For the pink one she selects white leggings and white open stillettos, for the blue she goes with the same white leggings and blue pumps. In the beginning, I started her off with the 2 aforementioned dresses along with a green dress, and yet she has yet to wear the green dress even though it has identical value, presumably because she has no shoes or leggings to go with it ( apparently black is not an option for her). It wasn't until I dumped a huge selection all at once into her inventory that I realized she actually coordinates which sort of blew my mind. What is odd is that she refuses to wear necklaces or earrings, not even seam hiders. The only necklace she will wear is the one that comes with Emma's Give a Gift Mod, which is sad because it is not a nice one and it lays funny (like it is made out of wire), She wont even wear the vanilla enchanted pendants. She does like her nail kits though and amazingly color coordinates those too, while still complaining that a manicure is out of the question, lol. I have held off on putting racey dresses in her inventory as they don't seem to suit her personality and usually have high values, but I did find a selection of a dress describes as elegant that turned out to be very short and revealing(more like boudoir wear) that came in red, black and white. I had forgotten that she had them( she has a lot of clothes she hasn't worn) but ever since her sister is out of jail, she has suddenly begun to wear the red one while relaxing at home and sometimes out in the wilderness. She quickly changes back to something more sedate when we hit town or and Inn. At first I thought it was just a random thing but shes pretty consistant about it. The more we date or have cozy evenings, the more she wears it. I never though I would be macked by an NPC, maybe its just my imagination. I have about 20 other female companions stashed about all with the same extensive inventory and they do not show the same behavior ( in fact it can be quite comical in some of their selections, like a purple dress with gold shoes and pink/black striped leggings lol). Emma, I don't know if this was intentional or an unexpected side effect of AI programming but it certainly impressive, especially considering she likes to walk in to walls when told to sit and thinks the shortest route from Cheydinhal to Corrol is via Bravil (yeah she has a great sense of location, it's direction she has trouble with lol), but I thank you for it.
