Hail and Salutations! After being absent for a long time (abroad), I returned home recently, to Morrowind and Skyrim and then promptly stumbled about Emma's plans to mod a Vilya-ancestor (so to speak) for Skyrim...That indeed sounds great! I just wanted to voice my deep appreciation for Emma and her work - I am really looking forward not to travel alone in the frozen lands...! All the best, Seeker

Here is a mod that I think is worth checking out.
Falskaar By Alexander J. Velicky
[flash=720,480]http://www.youtube.com/v/BxWpfz06sgw[/flash]
What is Falskaar?
Falskaar is a new lands mod that adds a brand new Expansion-sized land for the player to explore! It is lore friendly as far as not violating lore, though it doesn't exist in lore. (In other words it fits in perfectly. There are no purple unicorn ponies, or light sabers or anything ) At the end of the 2nd era, an expeditionary group wandering the hills of Skyrim finds an old Dwemer ruin. They explore it only to discover a mysterious portal of unknown origin. They cannot restrain their curiousity, so they activate the portal and pass through. They are met with the desolate, polar region of Falskaar, a small Island northeast of Tamriel. It's freezing cold, snowy everywhere, and void of almost all life. Through a miraculous turn of events, the land is transformed into a warm, inhabitable region. At least the Southern half of the island is, while the Northern half remains desolate and cold. The people flourish and develop. Over the next 600 years there are inevitably wars, conflict, and peace. However things take a turn for the worse, as people begin to flee the land, moving back to Tamriel. At present the people hold themselves together under the virtuous leadership of King Agnar Borvaldur, who's family has managed to keep peace for over 100 years. Though that peace, may soon be coming to an end...
Features
Upon completion Falskaar will feature: - 20-30 quests, including a 9 quest long main story, 5-10 side quests, and a big heap of miscellaneous objectives! - New items including new books, recipes, and potentially a couple weapons and a set or two of armor. - New spells and dragon shouts. - Potentially new birth stone powers. - A bard with a whole array of brand new songs! - Potentially custom exploration/battle music.
Falskaar will be fully voiced by a team of 31 hand picked voice actors!
Mauri Majanoja, Mick Mize (Currently performing in Cirque du Soleil!), and Robert S. Benjamin return from Deimos.
The cast also features Casey Mongillo who was in Red Dead Redemption, and Michael Johnston and River Kanoff who have both appeared in Xbox Live Arcade games!
I mean FULLY voice acted. No Vanilla voices are used! While in the land of Falskaar, every single bandit, guard, farmer, or townsperson you meet will be custom voiced for this project by my cast.
FAQ
When is the project going to be finished? My current goal for release is September of this year! That's right, no 5 year wait for this mod!
Are you adding new weapons, creatures, or foliage? Possibly new weapons, but no new creatures or foliage! I'm focusing on other areas like level and quest design for this one.
How big is your team? It's mainly just me! I do have a small group that does QA testing, and some people have helped by writing one or two books, then of course there's the voice actors. But, I do all the CK work! I've written all the dialogue, quests, every script, implemented everything, designed all the levels and worlds and managed the team! Yes it is a lot to do, but I manage by working 6-10 hours every single day! I sure love doing this.
How big is the land? Falskaar is about the size of 2-3 holds in Skyrim. Take Whiterun hold, The Rift, and Falkreath Hold and you get something roughly the size of my land.
Where will the mod be available at? As of right now it will be a SkyrimNexus exclusive. The Steam Workshop currently would not support the mod, but if it does at the time of release, it will be on there as well.
How long have you been working on this? I started writing the story/lore in October of last year, shortly after releasing Deimos. I then started putting it all together the instant that the Creation Kit came out on Feb 7th!
Why do you do this!? I'm here modding so I can get a job at Bethesda Game Studios. I think they are the best game design company in the world and I want to be right there working with all of them! That's why I may come off a bit 'showy'. I'm here to gain support so they can see my work and I can get a job. But of course I wouldn't be doing any of this if I didn't also have an absolute blast doing it!

So, what modding projects for Skyrim might you have up your sleeve? Myself, well, I believe the rumour has already been spread that I'm tinkering on something like this. I've been reluctant to mention it, as there are so many difficulties to overcome in order to make something that isn't just another follower, but now I think it is fair to say that she will eventually be a "real" companion. However, it won't happen that fast, so don't expect anything for several months yet. Vilja looks great and I'm sure she will fit in Skyrim very well. I played Vilja in Oblivion quite a time and enjoyed the mod so much. Are you still going to make Vilja to Skyrim and any idea when it is expected to be released. I'm waiting forward to have Vilja as a companion in Skyrim.

Bethruz, I had hoped to release her this weekend, but there are still some things we are fixing up. It's shouldn't be long now, though, although probably at least a week.

I'm looking forward to it as I really liked Vilja followermod most in Elder Scrolls Oblivion. I hope Viljas dialog is going to be as big as in oblivion version. I quess it's quite a job to make such a large mod as Vilja is. I've also worked some with CK and know how time consuming it is.

I hope Viljas dialog is going to be as big as in oblivion version. I quess it's quite a job to make such a large mod as Vilja is. Hehehe; I'm sure Emma will elaborate and correct me but it took years to get Vilja's dialog to be the size it is now! Vilja is at 4.4 I think now. Over the years many voice files were added and missions were added. Also voice files were added with all the homes that were made for her. And how can anyone forget all the special dialog written for Vilja by Discworld author Terry Pratchett. And the voice files for Wolfgang's mission and voice files for the extra ingredients mission after you get Wolfgang and extra spells for Vilja. The 4.4 Vilja you have today is far different from the original Vilja released way back when... I don't know, 3-4 years? One of the best features of companion vilja is the opening scene on the boat when you first meet her. Vilja's accent is much stronger than later voice recordings. I love those early voice recordings I always thought the accent added authenticity to the character.

Well, the good thing is that I have been able to re-use some of the old dialog - the more generic things of course, but still. It has saved me some time that I have put into making new dialog and new comments. So, Skyrim Vilja will from start have approx as much dialog as Vilja ver 4.04, including lots of comments on places and events in the game. The storylines will be new, as Skyrim Vilja is the great-grand-daughter of Oblivion Vilja, but there are three questlines included already from start... it should keep people busy for quite some time I believe. However, like with Oblivion Vilja, her quests shouldn't be "intrusive", i.e. you can play your own game and only help her when you feel like doing it. Still, the "rewards" will probably make it worth not waiting too long with doing them, as Vilja's various talents and skills will develope with the questlines.
I think my accent is probably as bad as ever - that's simply how I speak english - but maybe I was more insecure with voice-acting at the beginning and thus the accent became even more prominent. I'm glad that you like it... as I said so many times, it would be impossible for me to speak flawless english anyway, as I am from Sweden.

I think my accent is probably as bad as ever- ;D ARK! ;D You're too funny Emma! it would be impossible for me to speak flawless english anyway, as I am from Sweden. Oh my goodness! I couldn't imagine Vilja speaking perfect english. Then you wouldn't of been able to make fun of your pronunciation the way you did. That was classic funny. I recall reading a long time ago that you were embarrassed about your accent and I was so surprised. Your accent when you speak english is beautiful. Besides after a while you hardly notice it. Truthfully I don't understand why Bethesda doesn't hire more actors with accents as it only makes sense that Nords would sound different than Imperials. I think they really messed up wasting all that money for Patrick Stewart. They could of had 20 more voice actors When they finally invent robot butlers, I am naming mine Vilja and uploading your voice files for it ;D

I don't think of your accent as bad. It seems very pleasent even exotic to my American ears It certainly helps give Vilja character. I Know that.

Yes, I think the accent fits very well to Vilja and I couldn't either imagine Vilja with any other voice than Emmas.. Good old accent of northern vikings I also appreciate and am very thankful for Emmas work on modding.

Will Vilja use the vanilla companion system or her own? WIll she be compatable with the Ultimate Follower Overhaul or will I need to dump UFO to get her custom greetings and such? Or am I getting way ahead of myself in my excitement?

She'll have her own companion system, and should not be affected by UFO at all. We are almost finished but have a nasty problem with her inventory behaviour that we are still fighting, which has delayed the release. But as soon as it is working reliable, she'll arrive in Skyrim ; everything else is ready.

I have included it here for anyone that wants to try it. In-game it can be found in the Bannered mare, on the end of the bar. Attachments:
