I just wanted to share an exquisitely funny moment I had with Vilja. So, Vilja, Lyrias (my PC) and Lydia were on that rocky outcrop just to the north of Rorikstead, the one where the shrine is, and also where a few sabrecats hang out.
Vilja, with her normal amazing sense of timing, decided now was a good time to tell me more about her history. So, there she was, telling me about her time in Solitude, when I noticed a sabrecat appear on one side of my display. Uh-oh, I thought, going to have to cut this scene short ...
But no! Next I saw Lydia leap to the attack. Good old Lydia, ever reliable. She just took on the sabrecat singlehandedly (and beat seven shades out of it, too) while Vilja chatted to me entirely unconcerned.
This is now my favourite Skyrim moment, relegating my previous favourite moment to second place. My previous favourite moment was in an unmodded game, near Brandy Mug Farm, where I saw a herd of goats take on (and kill) a necromancer (or some sort bad-guy mage).

A very nice episode! Thank you for sharing this. I had an exquisite moment as well. If you do not mind? Shortly after upgrading to 1.2 the following happened: Vilja and I just came from Dragon Bridge and I handed the lead over to Vilja. We headed south toward Rorikstead where we had to take care of some important business. After a while we reached a bandit camp at Harald River. I knew this place from a previous encounter and I had bad memories about that location. I got a pretty bad feeling. The camp is called "Robber's Gorge" as far as I know. The problem there is that you have to defend against multiple opponents on two fronts at elevated positions. Further more the camp spreads on both sides of a road and is heavily defended. While I was still wondering what to do, the show began. I saw Vilja drawing her sword and storming up a hill to the left. I followed her closely and soon we were involved in a melee with three opponents. A fourth one was already underway. Two more I noticed upon a bridge connecting the two opposite parts of the camp. I had to defend against two bandits striking me constantly with heavy blows. In the background I saw Vilja who repeatedly struck her shield against a bandit's head and finally she threw the guy down with a violent blow. Then she suddenly disappeared from my view. Meanwhile, I was in serious trouble. The two jerks simultaneously struck at me with their swords, while a third one shot arrows in my back from the other side of the camp. Where in Nirn's name is Vilja? I also was very concerned about Vilja, because I could not hear or see a thing of her. I knew there was this archer and yet another fighter somewhere. My strength faded quickly and the end was near. Additionally my morale was at the end, because I thought Vilja died in combat. Then... all of a sudden... whooosh! A spell restored my health, I heard an angry yell: "You will be so dead!" Vilja had fought her way to the other side of the camp to stop the archer. She even had the time to take care of me. She'd saved at this moment not only my life, she had also managed to decide the battle for us. Everything else was a trifle. That was a very impressive moment. I was just seconds away from a disaster and would have hugged Vilja for this act of heroism so gladly. Unfortunately... I've to work a little to be allowed to do that.

Oh dear. Another guffaw-out-loud moment. In Northwind Mine, I'd just started to mine an ore vein, one of those on the floor. So you know the pose. Vilja was standing just behind me, facing away ... and then she turned to me and said "Was that you? What did you eat?"
