Not being happy with the interior of Benirus Manor after I acquired it (it is still too dark, I bang my shins on that table just inside the front door, and that shrine/altar is still in the basement), I figured others may have felt the same so sought a mod to redecorate it. One was a bit more than I wanted (quite a bit of optional scripting, etc.) but the other sounded ideal - "improved the lighting and cleaned up the basement". Well the lighting was better but that altar is still in the basement .... and Vilja refuses to sleep anywhere, complaining there is no bed. If I tell her to use her bedroll she puts it down then picks it up and complains there is no bed. Not just in Benirus, anywhere. I only have a couple of dozen mods, the Benirus mod loads early, Emma's CompanionInns mod loads last. I deactivate this mod and all is well again. If this bug only affected Benirus Manor I could live with it (we would just sleep at the inn when in town).
I could load the mod into the CS (haven't played with that yet) but have no idea what to look for. Also thought of creating my own Benirus mod (mainly to add a bed so I will have somewhere to sleep ...and to move that blasted table) but, due to my inexperience with Oblivion, considered I might end up with the same problem.

I know what you mean about that table. Why it is placed in that particular spot forcing you to stop and navigate around it cannot be explained other than the usual "it's Bethesda injecting something to interrupt the flow of the game". Sometimes it is a forced greeting and sometimes just a stupid table. I cannot imagine why whatever the Benirus mod does to beds would affect Emma's mod which loads later. Maybe a bashed patch through Wrye or a merged patch with TES4Edit would fix the issue.

In the CS, find the furniture section and drag n' drop a suitable bed into the cell that you want Vilja to sleep. The 'F' key will drop the bed to floor level...or until it hits an object that's in the way (click on the display window if it doesn't...it needs to be active). The 'T' key will put your view on top of the bed. The mouse will allow you to move rotate the bed. Holding the right shift key down will allow you to spin the whole scene around to suit your view. Double click on the bed and look for the Ownership tab. In factions, set it to 'Player Faction' and close the box. Setting the NPC ownership to 'Vilja' might also work but then ONLY Vilja could sleep in that bed. You can add a few decorations, lights after that. Avoid moving/deleting stock items unless absolutely needed. Avoid the use of many flickering light sources that overlap unless you have a powerful computer. Your FPS will suffer. A few are okay, of course.
After you're satisfied with your work, save and exit. Don't forget to readjust you mod load order as it usually sends the mod to the bottom of the list.

Thanks. I'm familiar with the CS from Morrowind, where I made tons of mods, but haven't yet had time to play with the Oblivion CS ...and its new features/limitations.
I dislike the lack of variety in Oblivion structures - the exact same building will be a guild house in one town, a shop in another, and an NPC home somewhere else. I miss being able to move into any unoccupied house as we could in Morrowind; and do not like the "prefab", and often ridiculously expensive, decorating after you buy a house (not that there is much else to do with money in the game beyond paying for equipment repairs). But given how little there is to do in Oblivion I doubt I'll pursue modding to the extent I did with Morrowind.
Flickering lights are an issue with many games; much as I enjoy them, I usually turn off the fireplaces in Rose Mansion because of the frame rate hit.

Luckily, with all the tile-sets, an almost unlimited variety of rooms can be constructed so you're not stuck with the prefab interiors, at least. Also, there's more stuff in the CS than actually made it into Oblivion, it seems. So search around...there's a lot...especially in the 'static' section. The CS likes to crash if your ducks aren't in a row. Save often. This page taught me the Oblivion CS basics. I'm pretty handy with everything up to quest making/dialogue. I'd be happy to explain where I'm able. cs.elderscrolls.com/index.php?title=Main_Page
